• "We have stayed in Dartmouth House several time but at another Property."

  The layout is very nice, however, there are a lot of issues with the place, which we were really disappointed with, not all the property, but with Sykes / Coast and Country. Although Iona at the Dartmouth office was great. The issues started when after arriving late and tired we just dropped our bags and went out. next day on inspecting the property, it had not been cleaned very well at all. Dust everywhere, dirty windows, fluff on the floor, a shower mat that was filty. The blind on the juliet balcony window, which again was filty, was broken. When i eventually got through to someone at coast and country they offered to send a maintaence man round, but it could have been any time, so they said they would report it. this was not the local office by the way. we went out for lunch and purchased food for the evening which, my wife cooked, it was only when she asked me to lay the table that we couldn't find the cutlery. wWe looked everywhere. I rang Sykes and got a message someone would come back to me in 20 to 30 min, 1 hour larter no call i rang again and left another message, no call this went on for four hours nothing. I gave up in the end, food ruined, upset wife, didn't need this. The following morning i rang sykes again, spoke to a lady who told me she would come back to me straight away, nothing. 1 hour later i called again, only to be told someone from the local office would call me, i insisted on waiting for them to talk to the local office. I was then told that the local office would call me straight back. Iona did with in 15 min, i explained everything to her and she checked about the cutlery, which is in a secret drawer with a label on...No label obviously. she talked me through it and there it was, but without a label you would never find it like we didn't. i sent her some photos of the cleanliness issues, a video of the broken blind, the shower room door lock is also broken. When you are paying £160 approx per night you would expect the place to be immaculate, as is the other apartment we stay in. I am expecting Sykes or the owners to give us a partial refund on our payment, as we have had such bad issues. i will just add that Iona at the Dartmouth office tried her best to sort things. I will see if i get my refund and reply. 51,000 people on my trip advisor await the outcome

  We throughly enjoyed our stay at no 8 Dartmouth House everything was provided ( couldn’t find any cutlery but then found the hidden drawer ) was really so clean and quiet the lift was great as I have difficulty with stairs and having a parking space is also brilliant, I was staying with my daughter and son- in - law so having the twin bedroom with the on suite for myself was wonderful I would throughly recommend no 8 in Dartmouth

• "We were very comfortable and had everything we needed."

  Well equipped kitchen. Very central to Dartmouth town but not noisy in any way. The flat faces away from the road. And no inside noise from other flats. The underground car park is a definite bonus.

• "This was our second visit and will not be our last."

  The property was clean and comfortable. Great parking. Nice and peaceful. Great to have a local M&S Foodhall. Lovely towels and bedding. Useful items such as an umbrella and lots of kitchen equipment. The only things that would have been useful are hand wash in the kitchen and a kitchen roll.

• "Without appearing to me dramatic, as a flat, this is possibly the best I have ever stayed in."

  ( I am 70, 3 holidays a year, stayed in over 15 different properties in Dartmouth with 30+ visits) The decor, furniture and appliances were second to non, immaculate. I honestly cannot pick fault with anything at all. Watch you fingers in the novel cutlery draw :-) The flat is situated in a prime location, 100m from the nearest supermarket and has its own reserved car parking in the basement. The only thing that I missed, was a view over the River, however the outlook was pleasant, albeit we were woken every morning at 7:30 by a dog in the neighbouring building. All in all I can only recommend this flat as being way above average in every respect.

  8. The flat was well equipped with everything we needed for a home-from-home. Dartmouth House is well-situated for everything in the town and has the enormous benefit of secure parking.

• "Very comfortable accommodation very close to the waterfront and shops."

  It was great to have a dedicated parking space in the secure underground car park with a lift to the accommodation. So convenient to have an M&S food store just along the road from the apartment. The office managing the property was also close by and the staff were very helpful and sorted minor queries very quickly. A great place to stay.

• "The property is well looked after and equipped and very convenient for the town."

  It was beautifully decorated and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay there. There were a number of small issues that should be kept in mind. The property has a lift and the property can be accessed without steps from the underground garage but there are some 6 or 7 steep steps to access directly from the ground floor pavement unsuitable for people with mobility problems. On the last day the lift was being serviced just before check out time without notice. My husband had to negotiate the two flights of steps with much difficulty and I had to take the cases down the fire exit. The parking spaces are really useful but tight for a larger car. The king sized bed needs a better mattress which was uncomfortable. The high pitched call of the numerous seagull’s is lovely during the day and reminds you, that you are really close to the coast but is persistent throughout the night and means that the windows cannot be left open when it is hot so you really need some form of cooling in order to sleep. There is a hidden draw for cutlery. Well hidden. These things are small compared with the convenience of the location and the otherwise beautiful apartment. Dartmouth itself is lovely and Kendricks restaurant a real find. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely return if the mattress was improved. This time we would bring our own fan.

  Dartmouth House has over the years had a number of permanent residents with mobility issues who have coped well with the building, which is one of the few, if not the only, holiday accommodation with full wheelchair access to the building. I can only apologize for the lift being serviced on the last day. This is carried out every 6 months arranged by the building management company. I have asked them to arrange it in future on a day other than change-over day. I should make it clear that the fire exit is the main staircase for the building. Mattresses are a very personal choice with some people preferring firm and some soft. The mattress on the king size bed is a good quality, little used interior sprung mattress which everybody else has found comfortable. We are sorry that you did not find it so, particularly as you changed your booking at the last minute because of the bed at your previous booking. I am afraid that seagulls have to be expected at a town near the sea and as a protected species, we can do nothing to remove them or their nests. The information folder has been updated with information about the cutlery drawer, including a photograph and a fan will be purchased. Property Owner

  The owner had thought of everything. In perfect condition and the lift and underground parking great. 5 minutes to Dartmouth front.. Having M&S food store almost next door a bonus. Booked again for September
