“This is a beautifully furnished well appointed cottage perfectly situated a short stroll from the main shopping streets and quayside of the historic town of Dartmouth.”

Perfect for us non car driving types who had to catch the bus from Totnes. We were lucky with the January weather the first few days of our stay so managed to explore nearby on foot (lovely walk to Dartmouth Castle!) However the weather turned on our second to last day but this was no bother. We hunkered down in this lovely cottage for the day and watched the rainy weather glide down the valley from the comfort of the sofa with many cups of tea and a book (many great books in the bookcase!). However the weather turned on our second to last day but this was no bother. We hunkered down in this lovely cottage for the day and watched the rainy weather glide down the valley from the comfort of the sofa with many cups of tea and a book (many great books in the bookcase!). We were lucky enough to get some logs for the wood burner delivered too. (Hardwear a shop in the market are very accomodating) so a long cosy day in front of the fire was just perfect! Would definitely come back for our annual winter getaway!

The property

Armada Cottage is a traditional 19th century terraced town cottage, just a short stroll away from the heart of Dartmouth, with its boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants and waterfront.

The accommodation has been refurbished in recent years whilst retaining much of its original character, including exposed stone fireplaces.

The property is reached via a flight of steps from Southford Road.

Enter through the front door and find yourself in an open-plan living space, with kitchen, dining and seating areas, boasting a neutral décor mixed with period features and subtle nods to the seaside location.

The comfortable living space features two sofas and a woodburning stove, perfect for cosying up on cooler evenings, with a set of double doors leading to a spacious patio area furnished with a table, chairs and a garden bench, ideal for enjoying al fresco dining in the summer sun.

At the rear of the living area is a dining table seating five guests.

Upstairs you will find two well presented bedrooms; a master bedroom with a King-size bed and a twin bedroom.

On the ground floor is a shower room with a large walk-in shower, whilst on the first floor is a family bathroom.

With a number of attractions within walking distance, such as Dartmouth Castle and museums, this is a great location for a couple or family.

Take a boat up the River Dart to the quirky town of Totnes or village of Dittisham, or ride the Dart Valley Steam Railway from across the estuary at Kingswear.

Alternatively, visit the stunning Start Bay coastline, just a short drive away, including the Blue Flag awarded Blackpool Sands beach.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
