On balmy evenings, step outside to the side courtyard to enjoy your evenings alfresco toasting to a fun-filled getaway over a cold beverage of your choice.
When the sky grows dark, venture back inside to wash away the day in a stylish bathroom, indulge a long soak or revitalising shower ahead of completing your all-important skincare routine and retiring to one of two immaculately-presented double bedrooms, both hosting Smart TVs for a homely spot to unwind.
When it comes to exploring, you’re spoiled for things to see and do here, begin your day with a visit to the Dartmouth Museum and immerse yourself in the local history ahead of relishing a picnic in the Royal Avenue Gardens and admiring imposing views over the River Dart and Dartmouth Harbour.
Explore Bayard’s Cove Fort before venturing to the magnificent Dartmouth Castle and Sugary Cove Beach, a tranquil spot to get lost in a book or paddle in the shores.
Traverse the landscape of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty via a plethora of walking, hiking, and cycling trails or journey to Torquay where Tessier Gardens, Babbacombe Model Village and Babbacombe Beach all await.
Here, you are also within accessible reach of the bustling city of Exeter which hosts an overwhelming number of pubs, restaurants, and cafes as well as the stunning Exeter Cathedral.

We had a lovely stay at Dancing Beggars.
The property is extremely well presented and clean. Quality bedding and towels. Easy, fairly level less than 5min walk to Dartmouth shops, cafés restaurants and harbour. The bedrooms are on 1st and 2nd floor accessed by narrow spiral staircases with handrail, aesthetically pleasing, but would be difficult to manage by people with mobility issues. Super modern bathroom on 1st floor. Kitchen is well equipped although there isn't a freezer compartment in the fridge which would've been useful. The only real downside to this property was the noise from deliveries and trollies rattling across the M&S car park, which the property backs onto, between 5.30am and 7am every day. There is free nearby on street car parking overnight from 6pm to 9am but spaces are limited, and then 2hrs max with 2hrs no return from 9am to 6pm. Otherwise there is an adjacent paying car park.
Great location and a good place for a small family (2 adults, 1 kid).
All in all, we had a lovely week and enjoyed Dartmouth as our home base. We booked this property last-minute and got a pretty good deal, but I would be hesitant to pay full-price. Based on other Sykes Cottages we have stayed at, this one is acceptable at £800-900 but seems over-priced for what it is at the full summer list price of nearly £1400 for the week. One big thing to be aware of with this property though... As the listing mentions, the property overlooks the M&S carpark. What the listing fails to mention is that M&S takes their deliveries at 7am every morning! Assuming one sleeps with the windows open as we did in the summer, it is impossible to sleep while the extremely loud deliveries are taking place for over an hour. Also be aware that the property comes with only a cleaning starter pack (which seems to be typical these days for properties owned by a company instead of individuals) that will not last you the entire week.
The property is ideally situated in the centre of Dartmouth.
It was well equipped with spacious bedrooms and comfy beds. There were lots of great places to eat close by and so much to see and do. A great base - thank you. We had a lovely week.
