Freshford, 3 Dartmouth House

Another lovely stay in Freshford.

many thanks for the Welsh cakes - they were delicious! As always the apartment was spotlessly clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The underground carpark is an added bonus, and although the shutter was still undergoing repairs, it nevertheless meant we had a guaranteed parking place throughout our stay. The weather was wonderful and we had a great week. I'm sure we'll be back later in the year!

this was our fourth visit and will not be our last.

We love the apartment and the kitchen and lounge are superb.

The beds are comfy but wardrobes are half full of paint tins, anti mould containers, and a lot of sundries. There is an old cardboard tube under the double bed? The tv in the bedroom does now work but has a very odd remote control and there are no instructions on how to get the thing to work. So we were not able to watch it. The worst thing is the cleanliness of the ensuite shower. The grab rails and bottom of the shower door are grimey and need a scrub with cleaner and an old toothbrush or something. The en suite lets the place down to be honest and us crying out to be upgraded. We have booked for next year and hope that these things might have improved because on the whole it’s a great apartment.

Freshford is a lovely apartment, perfect for exploring Dartmouth.

Close to M&S, which is so useful. We’ve visited Freshford many times, and it’s always a pleasure. A real home from home, comfy and welcoming. Kitchen well-equipped and both bathrooms beautifully clean. The underground car park is great, although the shutter door wasn’t working while we were there. Bit of a disappointment because we really value knowing our car is safe and secure. However it didn’t detract from our enjoyment. We’ve booked our next holiday already! Thank you to Pam for the delicious chocolate cupcakes - perfect with a cup of tea!

Another stay in our favourite place, and it never fails to impress.

The weather was a little rainy but it didn't matter, we spent those days enjoying our books and the comfortable sitting room, of course with a cup of tea and some delicious biscuits, (thank you for the welcome back gift - and the biscuits were absolutely yummy!). We really appreciated the new appliances, so much better, and the washing machine was so easy to use. The apartment is always clean and tidy and the kitchen is well- equipped. The proximity to the shops - M&S is the nearest- is great, and the town is lovely. Our only grumble (and it's very small) was that there appeared to be a problem with the ensuite shower door - it wouldn't stay closed - we think perhaps the bottom magnet was missing? However it wasn't a major problem as we used the main bathroom. All in all another fabulous break, we'll be back at the end of May!

Yet another lovely holiday in Freshford!

The apartment was, as always, sparkling clean and very welcoming. Unfortunately the gas work around Dartmouth did mean we had to park on the public carpark for a couple of nights, as the entrance to the underground car park was blocked. However it was soon cleared. (Coast & Country sorted out a parking pass for us - thank you). We had wonderful weather, although it was chilly in the evening. Didn't matter though, because the heating meant we were cosy and warm. We have already booked for next year - and we can't wait! A super holiday all round. P.S. Pam - thank you so much for the welcome back gift - it was delicious!

Hopefully you got my message about the freezer desperately needing defrosting?

The accomadation was clean and very handy for the town. The lift and underground parking were really useful.The bed was not very comfortable causing bad backs. It would also be helpful to have a bit more easily accessible information about appliances rather than having to wade through a large file of installation and maintenance info.

Our third year of staying at sykes , flat was in an excellent location abd great car parking.

Overall a bit disappointed with the flat though, thought it was a bit tired and dated. Dishwasher failed by day 2 and cooker extractor needed serious attention. Lounge comfortable but tv needed updating. Bedrooms both lovely . Overall we had a good week but don't I would return to this particular flat.

En suite shower was unfit for purpose, needs completely over hauling, if hot water was being used in kitchen you had none in either bathroom.

Kitchen needs upgrading. Could not open French windows how would you escape if there was a fire. Continuous noise from garage door being opened and closed.

Lovely comfy sofas and the bed too. We had amazing weather and would love to visit again.

Yet another wonderful stay at Freshford.

We have lost count of the number of times we have visited, and we are always delighted with the apartment. We only had some small niggles, the mattress in the main bedroom seemed to be a lot softer then when we visited last time, this meant we didn't get the best nights sleep. As we are getting older a firmer mattress would be better! The shower in the en-suite had a very persistent drip once it had been used, and no amount of turning the dial made it stop. However, Dartmouth as always was delightful, we simply love it. The secure underground parking is always a bonus. (Apart from the fact that our neighbours in flat 1 & 2 seemed to have difficulty staying within the lines of the bays which made parking for us quite difficult) Apartment was clean and tidy, kitchen well equipped, and oven was easy to operate.

Clean and quite comfortable.

Well positioned for shops, facilities and activities. Easy to access. Downsides are lack of any pint glasses! Noise of car parking barrier going up and down early in morning. And that we found radiators on and no way of switching off. Would have liked more details on rubbish disposal, particularly newspapers and bottles. We took ours home.

This is the second time that we have stayed in this property.

It’s a lovely property and has everything you need for a perfect stay. We love to stroll along the beautiful river and watch the world go by. There are some beautiful places to visit close by. The shops and restaurants are only a footstep away. We will definitely be coming back.

We have stayed in Freshford before, and found the apartment as lovely as ever.

Always a pleasure to spend time in Dartmouth even at the very end of the season. We were delighted with the apartment, always very well equipped and spotlessly clean. We knew that there would be scaffolding up and that there would be workmen on site, and were not bothered by this. However we were bothered by the fact that on one day, while we were in the process of bringing our shopping in and had not had chance to lock the front door, one of the workmen simply opened the door and walked straight in. He seemed to think it was perfectly ok, whereas it would be putting it mildly to say we were stunned. The only black spot in a wonderful holiday. What a shame. Hopefully the property owner and the letting company can pass on our dissatisfaction to the company employing the workmen.

We absolutely love the property.

It is always spotless and comfy. Our only criticism would be that the bedroom TV has never worked! We have been three times and never been able to watch it. It really is time it is replaced or removed ! Secondly the wardrobes are beginning to be full of storage leaving less room for visitors’ use. A few more decent coat hangers would be quite nice too please. The sound bar under the lounge tv is also not working. I know these are things which don’t matter too much with summer visitors but out of season visitors would like these things sorted! As said previously, we love the property and will be back when it will be interesting to see if our comments have been taken on board !!

The property is in a great location and the parking was perfect.

The apartment is very well maintained and the kitchen is well stocked with lots of utensils, crockery and pans. The bedrooms are a good size and the lounge area is spacious. The only issue was the difficulty figuring out the washer/dryer because the details have worn off and we found the manual quite confusing to understand. I'd definitely recommend the property because it was walking distance to everything you need in Dartmouth and just what we needed.

Great central position in the town, the biggest issue was with a nesting gull and her 2 chicks, they screeched all night

A lovely flat in an excellent area of Dartmouth.

Everything close by. We could not have wished for anything better. We will I am sure visit Dartmouth in the future and would hope to be able to book one of these flats again. The underground parking was a great bonus..

Nice apartment in a nice location.

Very quiet. Easy access to everything that Dartmouth has to offer. The M&S store on the doorstep is ideal for all your needs and there's some lovely restaurants within easy walking distance.

Really stylish modern property.

Loved the private parking garage and a great location very close to the shops and amenities. Could have done with recycling facilities though. Was asked to put in one bin bag.

We appreciated how clean and comfortable it was and that we had all we needed.

The central heating was very effective. It's great that there is a guaranteed space for parking your car and that there are so many local walks and good public transport. We would stay there again and would recommend it to friends.

A lovely apartment, booked on very short notice, but really pleased with everything.

Just as described in the listing, perfect for a stroll into town and with M&S only a 2 minute walk away, couldn't have been better. Underground parking a real bonus - we never moved the car during our stay. Will definitely be returning.

Great location close to all amenities, pubs and restaurants.

Underground parking was a real bonus and we never moved the car all week - so much to see and do in and around Dartmouth by walking, ferry and steam train. Clear and simple directions as well as key collection. We will be back!

Hot water taps are very hot, could prove an issue with young children

The property is exceptionally clean and very comfortable although the dining chairs are beginning to show signs of wear.

We could fault nothing and Coast & Country (Leah) were very helpful and quick to sort a problem with the bedside lamps which was much appreciated. The location is brilliant and we were treated to the best weather. A great holiday - many thanks

Aerial went down on Sunday morning, I had to keep checking in with progress.

I think it should have been the other way round, finally got fixed by Wednesday. It would have been nice if the TV worked in the bedroom ( new remote required) . Apart from all that apartment was lovely, very similar to the other one I stayed in.

Lovely apartment very close to the River Dart and shops.

This was the second time we have stayed in Dartmouth house. We thoroughly enjoyed both stays.

Convenient location, but not the best property we have stayed at with you.

The plumbing left a lot to be desired, as, after flushing any loo, the taps and/or shower would slow to a dribble or even stopped.

Lovely apartment and very well situated.

The double bed in the one bedroom was very lumpy and the shower over the bath was almost non existing regarding water flow. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. The car parking space was wonderful as Dartmouth was very busy every day.

The location is ideal, really central and a bonus to have on site parking (if a little tricky at times depending on who is parked either side of the allocated space!

). We were disappointed with the apartment - it's listed as 4 star and the price for a week in August reflected this, however compared to many other properties of this rating we have stayed in, it is more like a 3 star and felt overrated and overpriced. I agree with comments from other guests - main bed is really uncomfortable, bathrooms need updating including provision of proper shower facilities over the bath in the main bathroom and the kitchen needs some additional crockery and cutlery. We enjoyed our week, however won't return to this particular apartment.

Our main issue with the property was with the main bed.

The mattress needs replacing.You cannot move without the springs pinging - Didn’t sleep all week .

Everything was good but you need more mugs and cutlery because with four people having cups of tea etc we needed to do a lot of washing up and had to wait until the evening to use the dishwasher you need at least 14 mugs and a lot more cutlery

Place is generally OK but could do with a few things sorting, squeaky bed need updating, second bathroom needs a proper over bath shower with a screen, crockery, cutlery and glasses need review.

The flat was great and the bonus of having underground parking made it extra good.

It is an ideal location right in the centre but , apart from the seagulls, not noisy. We couldn't fault it from any point of view and are already planning our next visit.

As always, "did exactly what it said on the tin".

Easy booking last year but no problem with transferring to this year due to Covid. Couldn't make it this year due to personal reasons but again, transfer to my daughter and son in law was handled extremely well with friendliness and professionalism. They had a great stay at a great property. We will all be back next year (Covid permitting!)

This was the 5th time I stayed at Freshford, 3 Dartmouth House and I hope that I will be fit and able to stay again.

Next year

En suite light switch not working correctly, no shelf or cabinet for toiletries, mirror far too low.

Tumble dryer just heats wet clothes. Main bathroom no screen for shower over bath. Double bed mattress too low for frame, bruised legs when you sit on bed. TV in main bedroom found in closet- nowhere to put it in room. Two lights with blown bulbs 1 in kitchen 1 in living room.

Excellent location.

Parking space a particular benefit.

A really great location for a stay in Dartmouth but we were slightly disappointed on returning to the property for a second visit in 12 months this year as the property had deteriorated quite a lot since our last visit.

The main bedrooms en suite had mould developing outside the shower cubicle and the vinyl flooring had lifted. Having reported the squeeking of one of the single beds in the second bedroom last year again we were very disappointed to find exactly the same problem this year.

We have stayed in this block in Dartmouth several times before although this is our first time in this particular flat.

The location is excellent, close to the shops and on the level. The parking is a bonus but the allocated space is rather tight for larger cars. It was evident that the caretaker was making sure everywhere was clean and sanitised. The flat is well equipped and very comfortable. Thank you for an enjoyable holiday.

What a fabulous appartment to use as a base to explore Dartmouth and South Devon.

Everything you could ask for in terms of comfortable furnishings, appliances and location. The underground secure parking is an added bonus. Two improvements we would suggest One of the single beds devloped a creak and whilst the maintenence engineer tried to fix it when we contacted the office it was not sble to be fixed. So to sort that out would be good Secondly we contacted Coast and Country to see if a hairdryer and iron / ironingboard were included in the property. We were told no but only to find when we arrived that both were in place and of good quality. VERY FRUSTRATING However other than these two observations would have no hesitation in recommending this property

Poorly equipped property compared with other properties in Dartmouth House that we've stayed in.

Cleaning products almost non existent. No drawer space in bedroom 2, no surface space in master bedroom (nowhere to stand personal items). Bedside table window side not usable due to both drawers full of books. Couldn't t put cases in wardrobe as full of superfluous items. However there were THIRTY SIX COAT HANGERS!!!!! Will not book this property again. However would heartily recommend other Dartmouth House properties we've enjoyed.

We like cooking in the place we stay. The kitchen only had the bare essentials. A few more dishes to cook things in in the oven would be great.

Although there is no river view, it is very handy for the Embankment and everthing in Dartmouth and is very comfortable.

We were very disappointed that this property was on your books, we have stayed at your properties in salcombe and they have been excellent. The carpets and sofas were grubby and worn and very uncomfortable. The windows were dirty as were the skirting boards and the tiles in the shower were black. It is very tired and needs updating. The position and the actual lay out of the property is excellent.

Freshford is good but as in previous years we have had a problem with the channels on the TV. This TV really does need replacing as it is old , the problems with the channels , and it is far too small for the size of the apartment. Also the lack of broadband is an issue and as a result of these issues we will need to consider alternative accommodation.

We love it here and will book again. Would like a few more dishes for use in the microwave but otherwise all good.

Enjoy staying at Freshford and I am seriously thinking of booking for a third time!

We have used this property for the last four years, it is in a prime central location and the apartment is clean and although some of the furnishing is looking a bit tired. It is still a good apartment and and a bonus having private parking.

It's a nice airy, flat with a modern contemporary feel, in a very convenient location and the lift is a real plus when you have an elderly relative with you. The flat was clean and tidy, but was let down by the shower in the en-suite, which we didn't use in our previous visit and didn't like to use this time either. It really does need attention.

The accommodation was good, clean and well equipped. We hope to return next year!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Not far to the river & the town. Parking space was a huge plus.

We have stayed at freshford several times .it a lovely apartment and location is excellent.its always beautifully presented.

Had light bulb fail in passage way - tried all those spare in the kitchen draw, but ALL faulty !!! went out and bought a replacement. CCC could check the condition of the spares kept in the drawer?
