  • "Where to begin about our 4 worst nights sleep ever."

    The bed mattress has been the worst thing I have ever tried to sleep on. Thin, hard and springs that dig into the body. Couldn’t sleep and on the first morning had pain everywhere. It would have been easier to sleep on the floor. We tried to contact the owners through the WhatsApp link in the email and after explaining the bed problem and asking for something, anything to put on it got a chat bot that said someone will contact us but that never happened. We spent 3 hours driving to Exeter and back to find a mattress topper which cost us £55 which made the mattress a little more bearable. Also reached out to the owners through Expedia but still no reply. As we're traveling from Australia we couldn't take the mattress topper with us (no room in the luggage) but left it for the next unsuspecting souls. Also asked in the messages to be reimbursed for the the topper we bought, don't think that is going to happen. Would NOT stay here or recommend it to anyone.

  • "The interior of the property was clean and well thought out,but clothes kept in the underbed drawers came out damp and the bottom 2 drawers on the right side of the bed were too awkward to use, unfortunately the small outside area which is on the listing on Sykes was totally unkempt and not fit to be sat in, there were only 2 chairs (table was shown on listing)not that we could have used them anyway."

    Ideally situated for all Dartmouth has to offer. We were very disappointed when a couple of weeks before check in that the use of the parking permit had changed (this permit pretty much sealed the deal for us to book this accommodation) sadly we wouldn’t use this property again.

  • "Our 2nd stay at The Mew, just an ideal place for us, very close to the Quay & town as one of us has mobility issues."

    The flat is compact & has everything you need for a restful stay. The parking permit in Mayors car park very good for us, but now changed to a permit for the park & ride would be very difficult & would probably stop us from booking again. That is the only negative thing everything else was excellent. Our thanks goes to the ladies in The Coast & Country Cottages, especially helpful.

  • "What a beautiful little cottage."

    All the facilities you need, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Its position is spot on for accessing the town and the car park pass is great. the crisps and welcome packs were a lovely surprise. Could I suggest perhaps a non-slip mat in the shower, it gets very slippery. We had a wonderful week and the weather was kind. Thank you.

  • "Another great stay at The Mew."

    A lovely perfectly formed bijou studio right in the heart of Dartmouth. All spotless. The parking permit a real plus with only a short stroll to the studio. The weather was amazing during our stay so sat outside making use of the wooden table and chairs. Thank you to Dartmouth Coast and Country staff for making the key collection so easy and another big thank you for returning our left behind clothes so promptly. We will return. Overall another excellent stay at The Mew.

  • "It's a lovely little cottage in the perfect location in dartmouth."

    It was quite hot at night could probably do with a lighter tog duvet. We will definitely come back next year.

  • "The Mew is a great bijou but perfectly formed studio apartment in the heart of Dartmouth."

    The studio is extremely well designed and tastefully decorated. Quiet at night. The apartment was spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable. The studio manual was very helpful. Parking permit most important and only short walk from Mayors car park to The Mew. Only thing missing was a dishwasher because of lack of space. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thank you Coast and Country for making the key and parking permit collection an easy task. Hopefully we will return.

  • "Amazing location, so close to everything most things are within walking distance."

    Perfect for 2 people (has everything you need). Very cosy and well equipped. Property was clean and tidy. We did find that it needed ‘airing’ due to been quite a small property- so just recommend having the windows open at least once a day to stop stuffy/damp feeling.

As a small studio apartment we took advise on best way to air property and following advice ensured that as well as windows a stable door was installed to assist in airing property.   • "Picking up the key was very easy & lady in the office was very friendly & helpful."

    Having a parking permit very handy,getting our cases from car to apartment was a little difficult only because of a fairly recent major spine operation. Everything was just great for our weeks break away- including the weather! Thanks.

Tucked away in the heart of Dartmouth, Devon, is this charming, ground-floor studio apartment, The Mew.

Enjoying a great location within the South Devon AONB and just moments from the River Dart and range of amenities, The Mew is a fabulous choice for couples.

Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, where you will find a compact yet well-equipped kitchen for rustling up tasty dishes to enjoy at the dining table over a bottle of wine, before kicking back and relaxing on the plush seating in front of the electric fire, as your favourite show plays out on the Smart TV.

Wash away the day in the shower room, before climbing into the double bed and dreaming about the adventures to come.

Within the bustling Naval town of Dartmouth there is plenty to fill your itinerary; sample fresh seafood at Rockfish, British classics at The Cherub Inn, Indian at the Taj Mahal and European at Andria, stock up on essentials at the numerous delis and independent shops.

Tour Dartmouth Museum, hire a boat out on the waters of the River Dart, or explore the historic delights of Bayard’s Cove Fort and Dartmouth Castle.

Pack your bucket and spades and head to the Blue Flag Blackpool Sands, where you can sunbathe with your favourite book, try your hand at watersports and dine at the on-site café.

There is no garden but you can sit outside the front of the property which whilst not enclosed, forms part of the property.
An annual parking permit, for one car, is provided for the Mayors Avenue public car park until 30th June 2026. From the 1st July 2026 a parking permit for the Park and Ride car park at the top of Dartmouth will be provided.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town.
