Little Claremont

Martin and Lynn are fantastic hosts.

Arrived to find bread, milk, butter and eggs in the fridge for us. Great base for the moors, the beaches and some great dog friendly National Trust houses. We had a wonderful 4 days. A big thank you to Martin for answering all my questions about eateries, parking and so much more.

Lovely property with everything you need, extremely comfortable place.

A lovely welcoming letter from Lynn and Martin on the table when you walk in. Met Lynn on the first day absolutely lovely and hospitable lady. Property is situated in the perfect place for nearby activities. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at Little Claremont.

Martin and Lyn were good hosts. It was amply big enough for two (without a dog!) There were generous extras in the kitchen, so we could have a cuppa before we went to do our local food shop. The sun shone throughout, which was the added extra, so we could watch Spring and the sunsets through the glass front door everyday. We love Dartmoor and it was well placed..

In a word, disappointing.

On the positive side This property is ideally located for exploring the Dartmoor national park with easy access to Plymouth and beyond. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and provided milk, eggs and butter as a welcome gift. Unfortunately there were a number of issues which we wouldn't have expected to encounter. The standard of cleanliness left much to be desired with accumulations of dust indicating the property had not been properly cleaned for some time. The shower was grubby and suffered from poor water pressure. The double bed needed a new mattress. Some of the kitchen utensils need replacing (a rusty can opener!) The standard of decoration is poor, and needs a complete makeover. During the week we stayed at the property the weather was good for the time of year (March)

From start to finish the accommodation was clean and tidy we met the owner and they welcomed us saying if we needed anything just ask we did and straight away what we needed was seen to great holiday great people and would recommend to anyone

We really enjoyed our stay at Little Claremont, so cosy and comfortable.

Martin and Lyn really made us feel at home, we enjoyed our chats with them, and they made sure they were always on hand if we needed anything, our thanks go to them for making our stay so welcome. Our elderly collie loved his wander around the garden, also, we were close to explore Dartmoor etc. Lovely food at the Rock Inn at Yelverton, and the incredible weather we enjoyed all week made our stay so special.

Property very central to the areas we wanted to visit. Bed very comfy. However, living area could be cleaner.

Martin and Lynn were kind and welcoming. They provided milk, eggs, bread and butter on our arrival. We had use of the garage for our motorbikes and Martin offered us lifts to local places when it was raining. The annex is cosy and had everything we needed. Thanks for everything and happy to recommend to others.

A nice, quiet and comfortable 1 bedroom "Granny Flat" situated in Dousland on Dartmoor.

The facilities were more than adequate and the use of the front garden for the dog was most appreciated. We even met the owners two dogs who enjoyed my lunch on one occasion :-). We spke to the owners at the end of our stay and expressed how happy were were with the property and informed them that maybe adding a handrail into the property for the slightly disabled might be a good idea.

Perfect location for Hiking on Dartmoor Little Claremont is perfectly located for exploring Dartmoor, the quiet beauty of early morning Burrator Reservoir and surrounding hiking trails, and for those interested in history, Sheepstor Church with the grave of The First White Rajah of Sarawak, who retired to Burrator.

Well located to the small shops of Yelverton and the delicious selection of gourmet pies of The Game Larder. Tavistock too is worth a visit but make sure you go on the days the Pannier Market is open with crafts/antiques on different days. Burrator Inn, is walking distance from Little Claremont offers a very good Sunday Roast, but make sure to book. Little Claremont represents a comfortable space for two people. Morning sun in the kitchen and evening sun in the lounge. Outside a bench and table so you can enjoy the evening sun. The garden photographed is for your use. Car parking on the drive within feet of your front door. Flat access, apart from 2 to 3 shallow steps to front door. Most important to me was the kitchen. The fridge/freezer worked well, despite me overloading the fridge with all things green, other cottages I have been to I have had to resort to coolboxes with the fridge just giving up on my plant based diet. The fridge is a decent size, bigger than an undercounter fridge. The ceramic hob worked well, and although I did not use the oven it was very clean. There was also a small microvave. The bed was comfortable with clean pressed bedding. The shower was one of those with instant hot water, and as long as you had the setting right it was fine. There were overnight storage heaters but I did not use them as kept most windows open for fresh air. I pointed out several Housekeeping issues to Martin that needed to be urgently addressed and he was very keen to sort them out. I believe he will undertake to resolve these issues before the next guest arrives.

A delightful location from which to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding areas.

The property is well-stocked, cosy, with traditional decor, and represents great value for money. Ideal space for a couple with a dog. Owners Lynn and Martin were friendly and extremely helpful. Just wished the shower was slightly more modern/powerful and the bed a bit bigger. We had a lovely meal at the village pub.

We loved our stay at Little Claremont.

Martin & Lyn (the hosts) were fantastic. The place was superb. It is ideally situated for walking and exploring. Our dog loved it too. Loads of pubs to stop and eat at and the local is only 200 yards away so if you fancy a pint and a pub meal without having to drive then it's perfect.

Needs to address toilet seat issues and hot water pressure issues in bathroom, No extraction in kitchen for steam/smoke whilst cooking and smoke alarm positioned right above hob/oven!

! Would have been nice to have had a bread bin and Cafetiere in kitchen and a bigger waste bin.

We really enjoyed our stay at little Claremont, our hosts were a lovely couple who gave us lots of handy advice about the area and were always willing to help, thank you for a lovely stay we all enjoyed it especially our cockapoo Cali, who loved the wide open moors.

A very nice location for exploring Dartmoor.

Easy to get to Plymouth & Tavistock. Quiet place to stay with private parking on the owners driveway. Shops & petrol station only a 1 mile drive away in Yelverton. The cottage was very well equipped. We were provided with bread, milk, eggs & butter on arrival. The owners are really welcoming & friendly. Would stay again.

Lovely to come down to this part of the country to revisit old places and meet up with some old friends that we have not seen for a long time.

I really enjoyed my stay in Little Claremont.

It was a granny annex so is very well appointed for all kitchenware and storage space in the bedroom. The owners Martin and Lynn were friendly and helpful with their own 2 dogs so they were so considerate about my dog Hettie. Great location in village on Dartmoor with plenty of National Trust places to visit and gorgeous walks. A particular favourite of mine just 5 mins drive away was Burrator Reservoir. Park in Quarry and go up over the top away from the road, Sublime views over moors and reservoir. Also a must for dogs is Lydford and Teign Gorges the latter near Castle Drogo which is also worth a visit.

We had a lovely stay!

Martin & Lynn are very friendly and helpful, perfect hosts! Cottage had everything we needed, and the hosts left us bread, butter, milk eggs and teabags, thank you! Had a good meal with family at The Rock and visited a couple of National Trust properties while we were there. Tavistock is a nice little town well worth a visit. All in all a very enjoyable few days.

The owner, Martin, was very welcoming and helpful.

Milk, tea bags and eggs were left for us. The night storage heaters kept the place warm. My only problem was that the bed was too hard for my comfort.
