    Very comfortable one bed apartment. Electric gates and space for parking a car. Friendly Steph showed us where to walk into town. Great location for exploring North Devon. The hot tub is such a lovely added extra. Much needed for relaxing after a day out. 5/5

  • "Everything was lovely."

    Steph was really helpful and was available if we needed him. On a personal note the bed was soft and I prefer a harder bed. The hot tub was brilliant the accomodation was clean and well thought out. It was very quiet and very safe. I would definitely go back if I stay in Bideford again

  • "Fantastic owner very nice man spotless nice modern property high end fixtures and build."

    The bed and bedding could do with an upgrade fine but doesn’t make the quality of the rest . Mattress bit tired. Frying pan needs replacing not flat . But would not hesitate.to stay again

  • "A lovely warm, clean home, garden is well kept and have all you need to enjoy your time away."

    Steph and Val, the hosts are lovely people. They live upstairs but leave you to enjoy your holiday. The hot tub is hot and clean and well maintained. (Lovely sat in there watching the squirrels) If I had to pick out anything it’s to add a potato masher to their utensils and a microwave bowl, very minor things. Close enough to Bideford to walk to the town if you don’t mind the hill back up. Would recommend ‘Mr Chips’ for fish & chips or ‘The Black Smiths Inn’ for Sunday Calvert. I’m sure there are others but we only ate out those days as we cooked at the house. We would definitely book again if staying that way

  • "A perfect stay - everything was exactly as described, spotlessly clean, fantastic bathroom with a huge bath, lovely hot tub and has a secure well kept garden for the dog who loved squirrel watching."

  • "The listing advertised the property as “self-contained,” but that was not the case."

    The owners live directly above and even have a door leading into the rental space. Throughout our stay we could clearly hear them upstairs, which completely undermined the sense of privacy and made it feel far from self-contained. After a five-hour drive, we arrived on Sunday evening (after 6pm) to find no shower gel provided. Since all nearby shops and supermarkets had closed at 4pm, this was very inconvenient. The “welcome provisions” were also disappointing—just two tea bags, three Nespresso pods, and no sugar—for a multi-night stay, which felt thoughtless. Adding to this, the owner came by during our stay to check the chlorine levels in the hot tub, further disrupting the sense of privacy. When we raised these concerns with Sykes, their response was simply: “Why didn’t you speak to the owner?” As if it’s reasonable to tell the very person renting the property that what they’re providing doesn’t reflect the price we paid.

  • "Secluded and quiet."

    Clean, comfortable. and adequate. Can recommend it. Anyone with walking problem may find the flight of steps down to the flat not easy. A rail could be a useful addition. The host was very pleasant.and helpful.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at the Valise, it really is a nice property."

    Steph the owner was very helpful in explaining local attractions and routes. Lovely easy to use hot tub, a very spacious property for a 1 bedroom, lovely bath/shower room and very clean and tidy.

  • "We loved the property."

    Real top quality. The sofa was a little small for our personal liking. The bed also was a great size but the mattress wasn't too comfortable for us. We're used to stiffer mattresses. Although there is an electric gate at the top of the property a gated area may be nice so could let our dog roam. All of these are small things though as we did love it and property owner were incredibly friendly.
