Primrose Cottage

We had a really great stay, the cottage had everything we needed for 2 adults, a 5 year old and a 9 month old.

The views were beautiful and it was lovely and quiet which was ideal after busy days out exploring North Devon. We also loved spotting the local wildlife, particularly birds we don't have round our neck of the woods. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We had the loveliest of weeks in Primrose cottage.

It was really home from home with lots of beautiful quilting made by Hillary which added to it. The views from the living room + bedrooms were breathtaking which is just what's needed on holiday. Thank you to Colin + Hillary for the welcome gifts + for being such warm hosts.

This was our 2nd visit to Primrose cottage.

Its a great location for us to visit family and to explore the area. Colin is an excellent host, living next if needed. It is so peaceful and quiet, we enjoyed watching the swifts flying past. We will hopefully return again

Primrose Cottage was a very comfortable place to stay, with lovely views across the fields and woodland.

We had two horses, sheep and Lambs just over the gate, there were House Martins nesting in the surrounding houses and many other birds Pheasant, Goldfinch, Blackbird, House Sparrows, Dunnock, Buzzard to mention a few. Taff's Fish & Chips in Torrington very good Only 11 minute drive. Colin and Hilary were friendly and helpful hosts.

We chose this property because it looked nice and it was in a quiet location .

The property was beautiful- clean, well equipped and cosy . The owner had thought of everything! Even an air fryer ! The village surroundings were pretty and not too far to visit local attractions. The perfect place for a peaceful break . As discussed with the owner , the bath/shower is a bit small but it was adequate . Thank you for the lovely biscuits and the vase of daffodils !!!

Lovely, beautifully presented cottage in a quiet location where dark skies would have been a delight but for our misfortune with overcast every night.

The owners could not have been more welcoming. The only caveat would be for town drivers of a nervous disposition as the road in and out has two stretches of single track with passing places. We had lived in the area years ago so the roads were not an issue for us.

Primrose Cottage was a lovely, compact, comfortable cottage set in a tranquil village, enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside.

The Cottage was clea and comfortable with everything needed for an enjoyabe stay.

We had everything we needed for a perfect stay and loved the cottage.We were able to explore the area and found a nice cafe in Torrington.The only thing I personally would have liked, is for the quilt o. The single bed to be a double size, as that would give more coverage when moving around whilst sleeping.Would love to stay again!

We had a wonderful 5 night stay.

Colin and Hilary were great hosts. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you would need while self catering. The Cottage was quite remote, which we loved. Saying that beaches and sights were only 15/20 minutes away. I would highly recommend a visit. Sally, Amy,Orla and Lila x

Perfect all round - plenty of places to visit.

However think its a bit unfair that we can only arrive at property 5 o'clock saturday and have to leave following sunday by 10 o'clock thereby we lose a whole days holiday. There was only one property at this site so cleaning wouldn't have been an excuse.

Lovely comfortable cottage with everything we needed for our stay. Loved all the beautiful handmade wall hangings, so brilliantly done and in keeping with the cottage decor. We had a great week walking the coast paths and visiting RHS Rosemoor. With the weather being very warm we were bothered by flies on our last day there, possibly a door flyscreen would be useful.

Wonderful stay at Primrose Cottage .

It had everything you could possibly want . Situated in the countryside near Torrington it was ideal for enjoying the spring flowers and wild birds yet close enough to Barnstaple and Bideford for shopping. Our host Colin was welcoming and on hand if needed.

Lovely cosy cottage in the middle of the countryside with lots of wildlife around.

Huntshaw is situated in easy reach of many of the local beauty spots and attractions so there was plenty to do.

This is an excellent cottage to stay in, the beds were really comfortable, the kitchen spacious and well appointed, easy access for a vehicle, the peace and quiet was quite extraordinary, a rare quality in this often noisy world.

Our hosts Colin and Hilary were lovely people and most accomodating.

Colin was most friendly and informative, giving lots of information of what is in the area. The peace and quiet and outstanding views from the lounge and bedroom enhance the charm and tranquility of this place. I would highly recommended this place and would book a gain in a heart ♥️ beat. Very quiet. plenty of bird life to observe. Extremely pleasant owners Good access to North Devon, relatively easy to reach Dartmoor & Exmoor in an hour.

Primrose cottage was lovely.

Clean and comfortable with everything you could need and set in a beautiful location. A peaceful base to return to after a day out.

We had a lovely 5 night stay, the area is very pretty and close to lots of places to visit, the property is spacious and has everything you need for your stay, and was clean.

Negative points are that it is a bit tired in places, the lounge has damp on the walls with the plaster bubbling in places [the corner behind main sofa], being the worst area, the radiator in the bathroom did not work, and outside there is a very neglected bird feeding station which needs a good clean and some bird food actually put in it, we did not speak to the owners about these negative things, as they must know ?, and it is the last thing we wanted to do on hoilday as you do not want it to eat into your relaxing time.

A most comfortable cosy cottage in a very pretty peaceful setting.

Lots of wildlife and birds,we even managed to spot woodpeckers. Easy access to the coastal towns and villages. All in all a great holiday choice and a repeat visit highly likely.

Primrose Cottage is an ideal holiday home for North & Central Devon.

It is well equipped and in the main comfortable, (my wife found the bed a bit hard, but that was the only real issue). We tend to eat in when on holiday in the evening & we were very pleased with the amount of utensils & equipment in the kitchen which meant it wasn't much different from home. It is very rural but that means lovely views across the fields opposite & the opportunity to view Buzzards & Kestrels hunting & the local fox, as well as wonderful starry nights. We will happily return the next time we holiday in Devon.

The cottage is ideal if you want to escape from the hectic pace of life.

It is comfortable and has all the things you need for a comfy stay. The only problem we had was that the duvet was a double and we had a bit of a fight keeping covered as we are used to a king sized duvet!! However we still enjoyed our stay and the weather wasn't as bad as predicted, we did have a bit of rain but it didn't spoil our days out. We would recommend this cottage for a peaceful getaway and seeing the wildlife.

It was everything we could have wished for. The owners, Colin and Hilary made us feel very welcome and were always on hand if needed. The surrounding countryside was fabulous and very peaceful. We would highly recommend this retreat.

Lovely cottage, well equipped in a quite location.

Great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. A minor detail is the approach roads are narrow and rely on “passing places”, but not really a problem.

We had a fantastic relaxing few days stay at Primrose Cottage, it was everything we could have wished for.

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely host and the wine and biscuit awaiting us when we arrived were a really nice touch. Hope to return one day and will certainly recommend to friends/relatives.

A lovely, well equipped property.

The welcome with a bottle of wine and chocolates was appreciated. We did ask for the heating to be adjusted after the first night as we were cold, which Colin kindly fixed. However, it would have been preferable that we could control the temperature and timing to avoid needless consumption of oil. There was no subsequent communication from Colin and we did not meet his wife. The property was ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. We enjoyed our 7 night stay.

This property was one of, if not, the best cottage we’ve stayed in.

Such a cosy, homely feel, beautiful surroundings, fantastically clean and as it was February it was kept really warm for us as well. Our children loved it so much they didn’t want to leave. We will definitely book again in the future. Thankyou so much for such a lovely week away.

This is the most beautiful cottage I’ve ever stayed in!

Myself, my husband and 2 daughters came here for the October half term. We had the best holiday! The couple who own it are so lovely and so are the couple of neighbours. The cottage is super clean, had everything you could possibly need. I can’t recommend this place enough. There’s is loads to do around the area and the girls had the best time. We will definitely be booking here again for a family staycation.

Not to far from civilization. Cottage had everything you needed for a peaceful break away from hustle and bustle of life. Goody bag on arrival was much appreciated. Had an amazing week and would definitely like to return at some point.

Very cosy and comfortable cottage with lovely views of the Devon countryside.

Horses in the field opposite and rows of house martins every morning to keep us entertained. Many examples of Hilary's handicrafts which made it feel homely, absolutely spotless and very well equipped. Lovely greeting from Colin and really appreciated the welcome pack.

My family and I enjoyed a relaxing week at Primrose Cottage.

The communication with the owner was really good before we arrived, and they were kind enough to have some welcome goodies waiting for us when we arrived. The Cottage was lovely and spacious, with everything that we needed. The location is super quiet, especially at night. The outdoor terrace was lovely to sit at and eat alfresco, and perfect for enjoying an evening glass of wine or cup of tea whilst stargazing (you can see so many stars there). We even got to see a little family of hedgehogs one evening, and some kestrels (luckily not at the same time). The Cottage isn't far from several supermarkets and Barnstaple town, and you can get various beaches within about 30-40 minutes. We would definitely recommend staying at Primrose Cottage for a relaxing quiet stay, and look forward to staying there again in the future!

Excellent cottage in a beautiful rural location.

Lovely owners and spacious cottage for a family of 4. Brilliant base for exploring wider Devon with some top tips on the black folder within the cottage.

A beautifully located property, with all the facilities needed for a lovely holiday, and a warm welcome from Colin and Hilary greeted us on arrival along with a ‘welcome’ pack, which was much appreciated!

The high standard of the cottage meant staying there was a delight, and hope to return in future.

Primrose Cottage is just delightful - so comfortable, equipped with absolutely everything we could need, beautifully decorated and furnished, cosy without being cluttered, and in an idyllic location.

We had a three-night break, but next time will come for longer, as there is so much to see and do in the area. Colin was friendly, helpful and welcoming - top marks to him and Hilary for creating such a wonderful holiday hideaway.

A pleasant place to stay.

The cottage was beautiful, warm, clean and furnished to a high standard.

The pictures and wall hangings all added to the "home from home" atmosphere. The owner was there when we arrived and showed us round and we were left bread, milk, eggs and a bottle of wine. We had a lovely, peaceful stay.

It's extremely quiet with an attractive rural outlook. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

Spotlessly clean and slightly larger than it appears in the photos, we have a lovely, quiet stay [as a family of 4] in this two-bedroom cottage.

Late check-in was no problem, the owners live on-site in an adjoining building, and Colin met us on arrival. We were pleasantly surprised some eggs, bread butter and something to drink were left in the kitchen for us. This was just what we wanted, a quiet rural location near Torrington with a small M&S local and Lidl a short drive away. Thanks, Colin, we had a very pleasant stay.

All facilities are there and the cottage is so cozy.. Ideal location for visiting places in North Devon. Colin was always on hand if we needed anything, which we didn't. Would definitely consider Primrose Cottage if we have another staycation in the area.

The owners Colin and Hilary are very welcoming and helpful should you need anything. We, a party of four loved our stay, it’s was just what we needed to explore North Devon, there are some wonderful places to visit and see spectacular coastal views and beaches. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back here in the future.

Great cottage in a very peaceful location with excellent hosts.

A great location for days out to a host of what North Devon has to offer and a lovely base to return to for a relaxing evening. Only had a week break but it felt so much longer (in a good way!) and returned home feeling very relaxed

Although the weather was diabolical the cottage was warm cosy and very comfortable.

It was spotlessly clean had everything one needed and the owners were extremely helpful. I would love to return one day and explore the area in better weather. The cottage was in such a lovely spot where one could enjoy all that the beautiful countryside has to offer. Loved it!!!!

One of the best breaks we,have had in a long time. it rose well above our expectations and the owners were very kind and pleasant would highly recommend Primrose cottage and Sykes for finding it for us.

Very clean and well equipped together with friendly owners. Located in a very rural area but within easy reach of Great Torrington, Bideford and Barnstaple.

We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, well equipped (dishwasher was so welcome), cosy, comfortable and so quiet.

The owners were very helpful and friendly. The local area is beautiful and the views from the property are lovely. Our little boy really enjoyed trips to the field opposite to visit Bailey the goat and the chickens. We would like to return soon.

Colin and Hilary were always very helpful.

After an horrendous 11 hour bank holiday weekend journey we arrived to find bread, butter, eggs and milk had been thoughtfully left for us which meant I didn't have to go out again that night to the supermarket. Everything very clean and everything you need at the cottage.

With a warm welcome and beautiful views this is a lovely place in which to relax.

Our favourite visits were to Rosemoor Garden, and Dartington Glass which are very close by and to Clovelly and Appledore villages not too far away. We would have like to do more walking, but unfortunately I arrived with a sprained ankle, which held us back a bit!

We had a great time.

The cottage was lovely, furnished well, well equipped kitchen too which isnt always the case with holiday cottages. Owners were friendly but gave us plenty of space. Our children enjoyed the field opposite which we were allowed to access and had lambs and chickens in. We had good weather for half the week so we could eat our meals outside. The area was wonderfully quiet but not too far from the coast.

this was lovely cottage as a base to explore the lovely area although the sofas were very low backed and the seating very soft, would benefit from two new ones, heating difficult to control as the thermostat was just above the boiler

Plus they were there to greet us and explain everything. In addition to all this there was a midweek surprise of chocs and wine, as they had to have the builders in and were concerned that the noise may have spoilt our stay,
