Lovely accomodation, all as described in the brochure.

Very comfortable, modern and well equipped, spotlessly clean and well maintained, Hot tub was excellent. The quality of toiletries was appreciated as was the generosity of the welcome pack. The host was welcoming and on hand if needed. Well positioned for the South Devon beaches and towns of Dartmouth, Totnes and Salcombe. All in all, excellent.

Lovely spacious accommodation, large comfortable bed and bedroom, with bathroom, big open planned living area.

Balcony with seating and hot tub. Julian (owner) introduced himself and checked all ok. I had issue with my car i had to return home one day, Julian and his wife checked in with partner offering to take into town, both friendly and accommodating. Whilst not accommodation related, but I'll mention it's remote and narrow country lanes, be prepared to reverse and happy driving on such roads.

The property is in need of some serious maintenance.

We only bumped in to the owner by accident and he never asked whether we needed anything or was everything OK. The property is also very remote and we would not recommend it.

Lovely accommodation and owners.

We were welcomed with a welcome pamper with fresh essentials and a bottle of wine. The lodge does overlook the owners property and garden but this didn’t concern us at all as still felt quite private, all depends what you’re looking for. The accommodation also overlooks beautiful fields with amazing sunsets/rises. Lots of places to visit nearby with a car but also lovely to stay in and chill. Overall really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at Higher Gitcombe Lodge, the location is perfect if you are looking for peaceful solitude, which always helps with a great nights sleep.

The lodge is well equiped, very spacious, comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony soaking up the suns rays. The welcome pack and the information pack were much appreciated. The proximity to Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Salcombe is ideal. The local pubs and restaurants were fantastic too.

We were welcomed by the owner and their lovely dog. The property is a great base for visiting towns, villages and beaches in South Hams. The property is very comfortable and has everything that is needed to provide a relaxed break without the need to travel far… an added bonus as weather was awful! The property is a little bit off the beaten track and lanes are narrow, but this wasn’t a concern for us. We would certainly book again in future.

We had a great 10 nights in this lovely accommodation, great location for visiting the coast & Dartmoor, the accommodation had everything we needed, really comfy king size bed , lovely bathroom & outside space with a hot tub we used every night, we ate out apart from breakfast but everything was available in the kitchen if we needed to cook , lovely owners we spoke to Julian on several occasions & we were provided some great goodies as a welcome pack, on a clear night the star gazing is amazing with no light pollution we even spotted a shooting star!

The apartment reached by 11 steps is well furnished with good quality bed which is very comfortable.

Generous welcome pack left, would benefit from larger fridge. Well positioned for Dartmouth. The balcony overlooks the owners garden and driveway so does not feel at all private for them or guests. In order to see the surrounding views you need to be standing not seen when sat down. We arrived during a heatwave to temperature inside apartment 29.5 so a fan would have been appreciated.

A short while after arrival we were greeted by the host and his younger Son with unexpected welcoming gifts which included bread, milk and bottle of wine.

We had a lovely stay, Hot tub used every day and the bed lovely and comfortable and an excellent bathroom. Please do not complain about the pine needles which were sometimes visible around the place, as the lodge is serviced with opening roof lights and not windows and if it's windy and you have the lights open they may well blow in, at the end of the day you are in the countryside. Disappointed it lacked a freezer but having stayed there it was understandable why. My only real criticism was the dining table peeling it's surface. I would have like to have seen and spoken with the owner before leaving but we left an hour earlier than needed so perhaps that may have been the reason. Would definately return but as I am waiting for my other knee replacement which should be sometime August on, I suspect it would be about 18 months. Charles

We had a lovely week at this property, situated in easy reach of Dartmouth and the Devon coast.

Plenty of places to eat a short drive away. We chose to eat in a couple of days and the kitchen had all that we needed. The welcome pack was generous and everything was very comfortable and relaxing, the weather was kind enough to allow use of the hot tub every day. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

Great place, lovely and clean with everything needed for a relaxing break.

The extra bits put in the property by the owners is a real nice touch. We certainly enjoyed the bottle of wine and strawberries. It was all perfect.

Lovely stay at this little apartment , greeted by the friendly owner Julian and arrived to a little welcome pack of milk, bread, butter , pastries and a nice chilled bottle of Rośe wine .

Great little place , very clean and very comfortable with a nice hot tub and balcony to eat outside . Huge bathroom with both a great bath and good sized walk in shower ..nice selection of dvds , books and board games available to use .. lots of good walks in the area .. we walked to the Maltsters pub and had a good lunch here .. but our favourite find was the Watermans Arms a bit further up the river .. best meal of the week here , closely followed by Rockfish in Dartmouth . Really enjoyed our stay , thank you . We definitely recommend a stay here if you are looking for a peaceful , quiet , relaxed break .

What a fabulous place to stay.

The property has everything we needed and was in such a peaceful location. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake. The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome. All the little items provided at the start of our holiday were a lovely touch. There is nothing to fault and I really hope we will be back next year. You get used to the narrow roads and they are worth it for the beautiful location of the property. It was a real wrench to leave and we had such a relaxing time. There are a couple of lovely pubs a few minutes drive away situated on Bow Creek another lovely setting. I recommend The Maltsters Arms for great food and service (Keith Floyd’s old pub). The hosts were so helpful with where to go and what to do and we made the most of the advice. Most places less than 20 miles away and little more than 30 minutes drive. We visited Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe, Bantham, East Prawlthorpe, Gara Rock and Hope Cove to name a few. Great coastal walks with stunning views. The Round Robin trip was also a great day out with open top bus from Totnes, Steam Train, Ferry, a stop in Dartmouth and a Dart river cruise back to Totnes. Highly recommended it. We had a great Bank Holiday weekend at Higher Gitcombe Lodge.

Easy to self check-in, even though we got in quite late. Lovely welcome package that included bread, pastries, juice and wine. A really nice touch. The place itself was as shown. Very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, every single day! Would definitely stay here again if we’re in Devon.

Everything is as you see in these pictures. It’s peaceful and cosy. Just what we needed for our week away. Sunsets and hot tub make this location perfect. It’s a place we will be revisiting.

Accomodation is very clean, thoughtfully decorated, quiet and cosy.

Just what we needed to recharge our batteries. Host was very helpful, ensured hot tub was ready for use, had every utensil you could need in the kitchen area also lots of cupboard space, lots of space to put thing away in bedroom and very comfotable bed. Thoroughly enjoyed our break and would highly reccomend to anyone considering this as an option for a weekend away.

Excellent facilities for a two person indulgent stay.

Very well appointed in all respects. Location good for peace and quiet and visiting the locality though the very narrow lanes raise the stress levels. A comprehensive Welcome Pack inc chilled vino and fresh pastries was thoughtful, helpful and indeed, welcome. All in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Ideal for any couple wishing to reconnect…

Thank you for the welcome pack left for us in the fridge and the bread and cakes, all much appreciated. Only one suggestion to make. There is nowhere to store food, so a bread bin and a small cupboard over the work top would be very handy. The location although remote makes for a very peaceful and relaxing stay with a great choice of pubs and restaurants close by. Dartmouth is only a short drive away and for shopping there is a supermarket even nearer. We loved our week here so much we are hoping to return next year.

Superb, comfortable holiday home for two people in a quiet rural area with amazing views across the Devon landscape.

Don't be put off by the unusual location over a large double garage. This modern, beautifully fitted property really has everything you could wish for including an outside patio deck with hot tub. The owners could not have been more welcoming and the welcome goodies the best we have ever had. This light and airy property certainly lives up to its 5* rating. Highly recommended.

Friendly hosts and one of the best welcome packs we have received.

They were helpful in providing useful information on the local area. Also we appreciated the various supplies left throughout the apartment. The apartment was to a very high standard with high quality fixtures and fittings.The bathroom was amazing with good attention to detail. The location is good for lots of visits and whilst we knew the property was in a rural location we were not made aware of how narrow the lanes were until we received key collection details were received. We believe this should have been highlighted in the online details.

Not a downside but a personal thing, I would probably need a washing machine if I was to stay longer than a few days...But an absolutely beautiful place to stay :)

Our stay at Higher Gitcombe Lodge was a wonderful experience.

The property is very well fitted out and in immaculate condition. The bathroom is so well designed and beautifully warm thanks to underfloor heating. The large bedroom has plenty of storage and is blessed with a large bed that is so comfortable. The excellent living room opens to a large balcony with wonderful views. Totally independent of the family home, the owners are available to give advice. We loved the visit and would recommend a stay at the lodge to anyone wishing to explore the Torquay, Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth and Totnes region.

May i say that the owners of this.

( Julian and Pippa) have done a fabulous job on this property and the local information they supplied was very good. As for contact for any inquires there was somebody always there. Also there supplied a list of local. Eateries and pub, walks. And the local golf course. This helped my wife and i no end. We would certainly return.
