  • "The property was generally great."

We did find the stairs a bit of a challenge and someone older may really struggle with them. Both the fridge in the kitchen and the fridge freezer could do with de-frosting. A taller bin in the kitchen would be helpful so people can use the full bag provided. The bin was full before the bag was and was a bit wasteful. We did, however, love our stay in your gorgeous cottage. Thank you.

  • "A very well equipped and cosy cottage."

Comfortable beds and fluffy towels. A tiled entrance useful for muddy boots and dogs. A large fenced garden making it completely safe for dogs. The garden has a lovely sitting area, perfect for sunny days. The cottage, although 15 minutes away from a beach is in a good location for Dartmouth, Salcombe etc Would happily recommend and hopefully return one day ourselves.

We all enjoyed your lovely garden and were lucky with the weather. Well placed for great walks and visiting nearby towns and villages.

  • "3 Rock Cottages was exactly as described, was well maintained and had everything needed for our stay."

The neighbours were also really nice (especially Bryn the dog...what a sweety). The garden was really nice and genuinely secure which was really important to us and our dog (she loved having the freedom to come and go at will). Several lovely beaches within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "We had a lovely holiday in your cottage thankyou - just a couple of points to note: The washing machine wasn't working and the flush to the outside loo didn't work, both of these problems were conveyed to the owner."

The stairs are very steep with small treads and while it was no problem to us I think it would cause difficulties for elderly people - maybe this should be mentioned in the details. I occupied the bed in the small bedroom and I think there is a slight tilt towards the window as I rolled out of bed once and was conscious of a slight slope after that. Apart from these observations the cottage was very comfortable and the walks to a couple of coves were spectacular - we had a good holiday thanks.

Very comfortable and clean with all the facilities you need, lovely enclosed garden for the dogs …shame it wasn’t sunny enough for us to sit outside with a drink looking at the view! We made the most of the local friendly pub just down the road with good food. Also thank you for the Prosecco!

  • "A lovely cosy cottage with a great secure garden for the dog, and a beautiful seating area to enjoy."

Beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. Lots of pots and pans for cooking a range of meals, although the kitchen is quite compact but expected with this age of cottage. The living room was comfortable with a wood burner we used on the colder nights. There is a very good sized smart TV and plenty of information about the local area. The property is located in a very rural location. Kingston is a lovely little village with access to Womwell and Westcombe beaches and coastal path walks. It is also within easy reach of Salcombe, Bigbury on Sea and Hope Cove.

  • "Very well appointed cottage, with the most comfortable beds and a superb shower."

The large garden was lovely to relax in, with great views; also secure and spacious for the dog. Ideal location for walking and also exploring the beautiful South Hams beaches. Bantham and Bigbury were our favourites! The owners 'Welcome Pack' was particularly helpful, with great recommendations for places to visit and eat out. This is also the first 'dog friendly' property we have stayed in that provides throws to protect furniture and beds from the dog, much appreciated!

Thanks Lesley, for your lovely feedback. We're so glad you had a great week there and enjoyed our little piece of heaven. Haste ye back! Best wishes, Sian Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely and in a great position."

It had all tools you could want Except for usable power points in the kitchen. The shower had fantastic pressure, but the hot water ran out after two showers, either due to the pressure using the hot water quickly or the heating of the water not being on long enough.so not suitable for 4 people Sadly, the garden had two dog poos in it, and there were lots of cobwebs and dead insects in the house The utility room floor paint was not sealed properly and was flaking, result was walking blue paint through the house constantly. Although felt secure in the house, the garden was another matter. The gates to the cottage had been opened overnight, and when filling the watering can, to water the pots, someone had put washing up liquid or something similar into the can, these events happened twice during our stay Could not find a food recycling bin However, we had a great holiday in a great setting Must mention the neighbours, Tom & Chris, fantastic in our hour of need when car broke down.

Neighbours were really lovely and helpful in suggesting walks in the local area. Great welcome bottle of wine, overall the perfect place for a relaxing stay. East to get to Hope Cove, South Milton, Bantham and Bigbury, and ideal for coastal walks. Highly recommend this cottage for a lovely relaxing time.

The garden put this property on another level. We were blessed with amazing weather so used the garden to have breakfast, drinks etc. We didn’t eat out at all because we just wanted to eat at the cottage in the beautiful garden. So peaceful with beautiful views - we have re-booked for next year. Would 100% recommend

Good choice of walks from the village and the local pub was always a welcome site after a day out. We’ll definitely be back.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for your kind feedback and I'm so pleased you had a good time. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Rock - autumn and winter are also wonderful times at the cottage. We were down at the weekend and had a fabulous day out kayaking on the Erme and around Mothecombe - crystal clear waters and warm enough to swim! Best wishes, Sian Property Owner

The village is perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful holiday in the countryside of the South Hams starting the day and returning home to a lovely cottage . The garden was a huge bonus for us and our dog. There are many footpaths leading to the coast , quiet bays and the nearby river estuary. The cottage is well equipped...all mod cons. Especially comfy bed. Sparklingly clean. We will definitely return one day that's for sure but for now we have new foot paths to explore.

location. A previous review has mentioned the lack of facilities for family dogs and the terrier next door - we did not find this to be the case, the enclosed garden was brilliant for our dogs and the dog next door was simply not an issue!

The keys to property fitted badly and it was very difficult to get it right to enter and exit property. Dishwasher power quirky so do read owners notes very carefully. Owners left excellent recommendations for things to do and local facilities.

  • "The cottage is well situated for a peaceful break near to the south west coastal path."

The instructions to get to the house are clear and provide several warnings about the neighbours dog that barks every time you walk along the shared access path. We had our two dogs with us which the neighbouring dog took a disliking too and so sitting in the garden was a little stressful at times! With regard to providing constructive feedback to the owners who appear to have bought the cottage in January this year. Firstly, the cottage is well equipped but to the point of being very cluttered. I find that when there are lots of utensils/kitchen items that other cottage users don't always wash things up properly and we found this out when using an oven dish that was covered in mould! Secondly, the master bed is small. My wife and I are about 64kg each and not big people, but we didn't sleep too well as the bed is very small. With modern mattresses like the emma/simba mattress, it would be entirely possible to get a king in the main bedroom and this would improve the stay a lot. Finally, on the subject of dogs - there is a charge for dogs but it is not clear what this is for! I find paying for dogs frustrating in any case as our dogs stay in their own beds and don't sit on furniture or come upstairs. They also don't shed hair as they are hypoallergenic breeds. Where we have stayed previously, and a charge is levvied for dogs, there is usually a small 'gift' like a bag of treats or a chew or perhaps a dedicated water bowel for the dogs but there was nothing like that. Small things like this make a big difference, especially when paying over £170 a night at the start of low season (mid/late September 2021). As nice as the area and stay is, we won't be returning to rock cottages as we feel there is better value to be had elsewhere currently.

Thank you Mr Ramsbury for your comments which we have taken on board. I'm sorry that you felt we hadn't catered for dogs, the charge which is not levied by us, and didn't find the dog treats and dry food in the utility room in case guests have forgotten theirs, as well as the dog towels, throws, Mud daddy for cleaning off your dirty friends and the dog bowl under the utility room sink. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely but didn’t work for a family of 4 with older children."

The kitchen is a bit too small, there wasn’t anywhere to put food other than in the fridges. It is a lovely cottage, nicely finished and furnished. The beds were very comfortable and great to have the garden when you’ve got children and dogs.
