What a lovely stay

The property is in a good location and the kitchen is very well equipped and clean.

My only complaint is that the all in one living area is small and no mention is made of the size of this area in the description. There is mention of the "king-size" bedroom - though hardly king sized it is quite adequate! There is also nowhere within the shower to put showergel/shampoo etc. For these reasons have deducted one star.

The accommodation was wonderful.

It was the best sykes property we have stayed in having used Sykes for over ten Years.

Little Acorn - a fantastic property.

The hosts were so friendly, and left us a lovely Devon Cream Tea on arrival. There were also fresh flowers, biscuits, chocolates, coffee, tea, sugar and milk too. The accommodation is very well equipped, so you can cook anything. There were handy instructions in the welcome book, and many information leaflets for places to go. The bed was so comfy, and the shower was lovely and hot. The views of the countryside are amazing, and it was very quiet too. It's a perfect base for walking, driving or getting the train to your chosen destination.

my husband and I really liked the accommodation the views across the fields were beautiful we liked everything about our holiday it was so quiet and relaxing the accommodation had everything we needed very comfy and spacious well done to the owners we will look forward to going back again soon sue and Gary

We have been to this holiday property 4 times since 2018 and we cannot fault it, In our opinion it is the best Holiday Home to date, so if you are looking for a Quiet , Comfortable, well cared for, and lovely views from the Home in North Devon this is the one.

The Hosts are very welcoming and helpful. We hope to return again in the future.

A lovely annex to spend time relaxing after a days exploring.

Clean and comfortable with plenty of space in each room. The owners are friendly, approachable and on hand if anything is required. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning if we decide to visit this part of Devon again in the future.

The owners are welcoming, with a feeling of generosity throughout. Immaculately clean and every need both thought of and catered for.

A lovely cosy first floor accommodation, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay with views from the balcony of the sheep which were a delight to see.

A wonderful welcome cream tea was on the table, together with a pack of biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar and a beautiful vase of flowers, a lovely personal touch. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely. The kitchen had all utensils needed, fully equipped with dishwasher and washing machine (if you wanted to use them).Ali was absolutely delightful, allowing us an early check in as we were in the area, she was there for us if we needed her , all in all, a fabulous week was had and we will have no hesitation in going back.

Little Acorn is a lovely apartment.

It's spacious, comfortable and equipped with everything you could need. The view from the balcony is over far reaching countryside. The hosts Andy and Ali were great, very friendly and helpful, as my husband is recovering from illness, they carried all out bags in, and made sure we were ok with everything. It's situated perfectly for visiting lots of enjoyable places. We definitely want to return, and would have no problem recommending it to others. Linda and Peter.

Great Sandy beaches in the area, many gardens ( in Gardener's World two for one scheme) and Nationals trust places to visit . Barnstaple is a good shopping town too. Overall a great place for a holiday.

On arriving at Little Acorn see were delighted to find fresh flowers and a delicious cream tea laid out on the table.

The immaculate accommodation was perfect for our needs, and the spacious veranda with the beautiful view was a great place to relax. We have no hesitation in recommending Little Acorn and would like to thank our kind hosts for making us so welcome.

The cottage was absolutely stunning inside & out.

Location was perfect with lovely clear views towards Barnstaple. We arrived much later than planned, but we're delighted to find a welcome pack of fresh scones/cream & jam. Ali greeted us the next morning & was exceedingly friendly & helpful.

Really well equipped with everything you might want - lovely welcome and very receptive to our requests eg parking for an extra car! Would thoroughly recommend Little Acorn and will be doing so when our friends visit now we have moved to Devon!

Lovely, welcoming, comfortable accommodation which provided all we needed.

Excellent location for exploring the local area with it's many houses, gardens and walks.

Thoughtful touches, like being able to make a hot drink on arrival before going grocery shopping and sample a bit of Devon with clotted cream, jam and scones.

There is space to move around in well kept clean accommodation.

The welcome pack was well received, thank you. The only negatives were the lack of anywhere to hang coats and the constant noise from the main road across the fields. Obviously nothing can be done about the noise but a few more door/wall hooks is easily sorted

A relaxing and hassle free stay from start to finish.

All the facilities we needed for our holiday. A great central location within a short drive (less than 30mins) of all the places we wanted to visit in North Devon. The owners were great and made us feel very welcome. More than happy to recommend to others.

The accommodation has everything you need for a holiday but some areas need a little updating. The cold water tap in the kitchen and shower require some attention and the hot water in the bathroom takes ages to come through. The balcony is a lovely feature and place to sit in the sun and admire the views over the countryside. Lots of lovely areas to visit but definitely need a car.

A beautifully maintained first floor apartment which contained everything necessary for our comfort an enjoyment.

I had a really enjoyable stay - but it went too quickly!

Owners very friendly, kind and helpful - particularly with regard to an online shop. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Really convenient for public transport to explore places without having to drive. And nice patio area to chill after going out and about.

Little Acorn is an excellent base to suit our needs.

It is our second visit to complete our plan to walk the North Devon coastal path. Not only is the property comfortable and well equipped it gives easy access to the bus stop at the railway station (9 mins)and retail outlets to replenish provisions. The view from the flat is far ranging and it is a quiet spot on the rural periphery of Barnstaple.

Beautiful well equipped cottage, veranda at rear allows for quiet space to enjoy the view and relax.

Cottage it tastefully decorated, spotless with everything you need at hand. Lovely touch with cream tea provided on arrival.

The welcome pack was a bonus The only small niggle was the hot water system was slow and not very hot and the heating cannot be controlled by the guests.

Little Acorn is the perfect property for couples.

It has everything needed for your comfort, from the right size teapot, to cosy, large bath sheets to wrap yourself in after a shower in the en suite. Well situated for the Tarka Trail, local buses and the nearby railway station . Perfect hosts, and a delicious cream tea on arrival - what more can you wish for!

Great base for exploring North Devon and Somerset.

Easy walk into Barnstaple where you can shop, eat, visit the theatre or cinema, a lovely little town. Little Acorn is very homely with a comfy bed and lounge area. Nice big walk in shower and all the kitchen equipment you could need. The cream tea and biscuits were very welcome after a 2 day journey to get there! Thanks Ali & Andy for a lovely, restful break.

Cosy, well equipped, ideal rural location on the periphery of Barnstaple with a wide ranging. Kew over the Taw Valley. A ten minute walk to the retail park and bus stop. Ideal for reaching access points to the south west coastal path.

We had a very enjoyable week at Little Acorn exploring the area using local bus services to enable us to do linear walks along the SWC path.

A very comfortable and well equipped apartment. At times we were aware of some distant traffic noise from the by pass in the valley.

We enjoyed our second visit to Little Acorn - Ali is a wonderful host and the property is a clean and relaxing holiday base to explore North Devon.

Can't really fault the annex if you don't mind climbing the stairs.

The host family are truly very friendly and helpful an excellent place for a holiday home.

It is clear from earlier reviews here and in the visitor's book at the property that this property is thought of highly and we can only confirm that this property has been put together so well with such hospitality from Andi and Alli.

We enjoyed it so much (so homely) and continued to find those "extras" that made this stay like home. Wonderful - we will return as it is a wonderful centre to visit North Devon and relax..

The accommodation exceeded our expectations with its lovely clean modern decor. Ali and Andy are very welcoming hosts and add little touches which make the cottage and experience personal. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and Little Acorn is amongst the very best.

Little Acorns is a real home from home.

The apartment was immaculate with lovely fresh smelling towels and bedding, it was very comfortable with lovely views across the valley. The area is peaceful but close to all amenities and easy to get to places like Clovelly, Woolacombe, Hartland etc. Ali and her family are friendly and helpful and the added touches they left with the flowers, scones jam and cream and biscuits. We would not hesitate in returning and highly recommend the property to anyone wanting a holiday in North Devon.

Little acorns has got to be the best place I've stayed, it was a perfect location, a beautiful one bed apartment loved the views even when it rained, perfectly clean, and the hosts were so lovely nothing was to much trouble for them, very thoughtful with milk in fridge & jam cream & scones.

Loved everything about it, we will definitely be going back & will recommend to everyone.

The flat is very well appointed and run by a lovely friendly family who leave you to do your own thing, but are there if needed.

The flat is everything as promised and more. A welcome pack of milk, cream tea for two, tea, coffee and biscuits, along with some fresh flowers. Everything is like new and a lovely fresh bright feel to the accommodation. It's in a good position, close to Barnstaple town centre and a supermarket in walking distance, but we drove there! We really enjoyed the week and have only good thoughts and were sorry we had not booked longer, and will try and find time to come back in the future.

Top quality accommodation.

The space to use as more than just a place to sleep.

On not so nice weather days we were able to stay in without being on top of each other. It is well placed for trips into Cornwall - we went to Bude but also we could walk into Barnstable when the weather was good.

Ali, the host, was great.

Communication with her for arrival and questions about the place could not have been better. We had everything we needed. It was a quiet retreat for us and we would definitely return.

This holiday was enjoyed very much, mainly because of the location, the facilities and the hospitality of Ali and her family at Little Acorn.

A lovely one bedroom upstairs annex to the owners property which has everything you need for a holiday in North Devon.

Owner left a very nice cream tea with a selection of drinks and goodies which was a welcome surprise on arrival after a long drive. Barnstable is a good central location for many of the tourist attractions and walks in North Devon and Somerset.

We had great weather along with great accommodation, location good with the host Ali and Andy very friendly.

Just need to be prepared to book any activities and visits to gardens as limited places due to the current measures in place for social distancing. We still enjoyed our time away, a well deserved rest in a very lovely part of the country.

The weather was pretty dire along with most of the rest of the country but it was good to know we had a warm and comfortable apartment to go back too.

It contained every thing we needed to make our holiday go smoothly and the owners were very friendly and lived next door so when we had a problem with the TV they came straight away to fix it.

The owners were very friendly without being intrusive.

Ali and Andy were extremely helpful and on hand for any information. It was a clean comfortable and well positioned accommodation. We hope to return in the future.

Excellent holiday accommodation.

On arrival there was a cream tea for us as well as a bowl of fruit, On the table there was a vase of beautiful roses. The owners were very friendly and the view from the balcony looking over a field of sheep was very restful. There was everything we needed in the apartment including beautiful thick towels. It couldn't have been better

Our second visit was as good as the first!

We were again given a friendly welcome, delicious goodies and flowers. We visited Arlington Court, walked round Wistlandpound Reservoir and walked at Baggy Point. We dodged the hail showers by spending an afternoon at the cinema in Barnstaple! Due to Ali’s attention to detail we are happy to highly recommend this cottage. Rosemary and Peter

Little Acorns was very clean, tidy warm and cosy.

Ideal for the two of us taking a break. on arrival we were welcomed with a bottle of bubbly, flowers, fruit and a devon cream tea. What wonderful hosts and family. Brilliant location and accommodation.

Little Acorn is an excellent base for touring North Devon and Cornwall.

It is a beautiful apartment with everything there that you might need for a really comfortable stay.The kitchen and lounge have lovely far reaching views and it was just wonderful to lie in bed at night and look at the stars. It is in a really quiet and peaceful area, but only a few minutes from the main roads and shops. Ali and Andy are a really lovely couple, nothing was too much trouble for them, and the cream tea on arrival was superb. We hope to go back again one day and would highly recommend this holiday apartment to anyone who is looking for something a little bit special.

The heating is controlled by the owners as there isn't a separate control at the property yet.

This is a bit is an issue in November, the owners did provide a heater and said to contact them if we wanted the heating on more than they provided. A separate control would be ideal as you don't want to keep bothering the owners. In the summer months this wouldn't be an issue. The pressure for the hot water could be improved too.

Little Acorns exceeded expectations.

Far enough from Barnstaple to be a quiet retreat, yet close enough to walk to should you wish to. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and our hosts Alison and Andy were friendly and helpful.

Would highly recommend Little Acorn to everyone and it deserves a 5 star rating.

I needed somewhere to stay for 10 nights due to business commitments.

I tried to book in to a hotel but alas they were all full. Fortunately I stumbled upon Sykes Cottages and Little Acorn and booked up. What a delight I was met by the owner given the keys etc. The apartment was superb; fridge freezer, oven, washing machine and tumble drier, kettle, coffee machine, toaster etc. I went shopping beforehand, for basic provisions like washing up liquid, salt and pepper, washing tablets etc but there really is no need, basics were supplied. Even a cream tea (scones, jam and clotted cream) was waiting for me! Little Acorn is a 15-20 min walk in to town, very private and quiet. If I get the opportunity to travel to North Devon again I will certainly stay at Little Acorn.

Little Acorn is an absolutely beautiful apartment in such a lovely setting.

It had everything we needed and more. The hosts were amazing, leaving little touches like a cream tea on arrival - nothing was too much trouble for them. The neighbours were friendly too, making us feel very welcome and at home, we would have loved to stay longer, We had a wonderful break even without the sunshine - typical of holidaying in England!

Everything was as previous reviews from the excellent views the lovely Ali and Andy ,and the apartment it ticks all the boxes and they are doing an excellent job ,the scones and all the other things they supplied,the neighbors were very friendly and you can discover lots of Devon with local buses and train station nearby.

!! Nothing was too much trouble for them, they always found time to have a little chat, so friendly and obliging nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was tip top very clean spacious and beautifully kept.

This appartement was very convenient cosy and beautifull.

The view was fantastic There was a large range of comfort and a pretty garden to sit in there was many touristic informatiion of the area, books to read and DVD to watch . Barnstaple is a nice little town with many shops and weekly an antique and curiosity market. It is also a good place to visit by car,bus of train the touristic places. Ali and Andy were very helpfull and gave us all the informatiion we could need. This appartements is really the best we ever had ( we travel already more than 43 years) We recommand this lovely house to everybody. PS: We stayed for 3 weeks. Vercauteren Freddy from Belgium
