So much thought has gone into making sure that this is a home from home, with everything you need at hand. Fill the bird feeders and sit back and enjoy the amazing bird life. Wi-Fi hit and miss but didn’t bother us! Nice touch from Jeanie, bottle of wine & yummy biscuits (thankyou). We lit the fire at night and enjoyed a glass of wine …perfect. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

  • "The place was spotless when we arrived, credit to Jeanie the Caretaker who met us there and was really nice and helpful."

The cottage itself is idyllic, beautiful views, nice local walking and a lovely cottage garden with views to sit out in. It is worth making use of the bird feeders as they were very well used when we were there, and I spotted 15 species from the garden itself. In general the cottage was very comfortable and the bed particularly so. It is also a very convenient location for touring around with many sites (including the moors) within 30 minutes drive. The EV charger was a very welcome bonus. I don't use a full EV as usually in the countryside chargers are few and far between, but I do have a plug-in hybrid. Being able to charge it at night saved me a fortune in petrol. Two minor quibbles, neither Jeanie's fault. 1: No freezer although to be fair we were told this in advance, and as Jeanie said, it would have to be placed in an outbuilding as there physically isn't room in the kitchen. 2: No mobile phone reception, again warned in advance, but the WiFi was decidedly flaky, the router needing to be re-booted at least once or twice a day, and the advertised landline phone didn't work. I suspect the latter is because it is an analogue phone and BT have recently switched all lines over to internet only so an internet phone is required. Fortunately we were able to use our mobiles in "internet mode" so that when the router wasn't playing up we were ok. Overall thoroughly recommended and we will be back.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. BT had a fault with the external line, and open reach came out to fix it. We are pleased to hear you had a lovely time, and enjoyed the beautiful views and we look forward to welcoming you back again! Property Owner

I am sound engineer and frankly this TV/CD player is NOT fit for purpose. We were unable to listen to it, as it is tinny. I know what I am doing with technology and this could not be improved either in personal settings reducing the treble or in the standard setting or any other for that matter. It just has cheap speakers within it. There are far better small tv's out there that don't sound as awful as this. This is why i marked the facilities low. The rest of the cottage is fine. The birds singing each morning are wonderful and there is a pheasant that squarks every now and then. At night we saw two hedgehogs that visit the garden. It was sunny enough for us to eat breakfast and dinner in the garden which was lovely. The cottage inside is cosy with nice furnishings. Only negative things is the shower doesn't work on high, it's either scolding hot or freezing so you have to have a bath every day really unless you can deal with the shower drizzle on medium or low setting. Also kitchen cupboards/tiles/bathroom tiles could do with a wipe down but overall the cleanliness is good. We've been twice now, we love it and will be back again. The fireplace is amazing.

A place to survey the bluebells and primroses that carpet the lawn . The only other sound, the breeze playing through the trees. It’s as if time has gone back 100 years and as I sit outside the cottage door I imagine the view is unchanged. Peace is this place, sitting under the pear tree that reaches up to the thatched roof. A stoat runs across the lawn. A gravel path, a blue wooden gate and stone flags by the house. In the distance , across the peaceful valley, the trees are coming in to leaf; the fields are bright with new growth. All this and, inside, vases have been filled with bluebells and a cake awaits us in a tin.

The kitchen was lacking in storage space for the food items that we brought with us ( bearing in mind the COVID19 rules maye have prevented us eating out) . The heating was by Night Storage radiators and all of these were shabby , with rust spots and worn heating controls and in need of replacement . There was only a small cupboard located between the two bedrooms with hanging space for clothes and felt damp . As already reported we had a problem with mice in the space between the thatched roof and plasterboard ceiling and for the first three nights they were so active and loud and this prevented a good, full night's sleep .....this was dealt with but it needed two phone calls to yourselves to obtain a solution as at first we were told that it coudn't be dealt with until we left on "changeover" day ! We were disappointed that despite opting for a 4 * ( or tick ) rating we encountered these problems and the property did not meet your usual high standards. On a positive note the standard of cleanliness was very good and the caretaker is to be commended for her work in this property ....and her help with the mice problem.

Eva the very helpful lady who looks after the cottage so well was aware and had previously requested something should be done but despite her remind request still no phone when we left.
