  • "Lovely cottage on a stunning Estate."

Swimming pools were fantastic with the outdoor one heated an added bonus Overall the cottage was very nice, beds comfortable & kitchen very well equipped. On the minus points...could do with the main toilet sorting flush wise was not the best & we had the constant 'glug glug glug of the drain water from sinks. Outside steps Wooden handrail is rotten with exposed screws of which I caught my hand on..really needs replacing.

  • "We've stayed here a couple of times before so we obviously like the property."

It's a good place to stay with lots of facilities for our now teenage granddaughter and a friend. The outdoor pool is kept clean and is not usually crowded. The booking system for indoor pool seems to work well. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. As before, we found the fridge and tiny ice box too small. We enjoyed our stay.

  • "Overall we had a lovely stay and the facilities on the Colmer Estate were great and the location too, however, there was a very musty smell in the Coach House upon arrival and it persisted for the duration of our stay unfortunately."

We did relay this feedback directly early in our stay but there didn't seem to be a solution, just an acknowledgement that it was an old building. Upon arriving home we had to do about 10 loads of washing to get the smell off all of the clothes/towels etc that had been in the accommodation, even items that hadn't been used, which wasn't ideal. If the underlying issue could be addressed and the property was given a bit of a refresh, we would consider returning, but not if the necessary work doesn't get done.

  • "This is a lovely place to stay with excellent facilities for families."

This was our second visit and we enjoyed our stay. Our grand daughter is a keen swimmer and made lots of use of both pools. The outdoor pool was never very crowded and the booking system for indoor pool means you have it to youselves. The Coach House is very comfortable. The only negative we have is the size of the fridge and tiny freezer compartment. We hope to return.

  • "You have a wonderful property in a beautiful setting, which enabled us to have a wonderful stay, thank you!"

The property was very well equipped also. The property was a little cobwebby here and there, but everything else pushed this into insignificance and a minor maintenance issue was resolved very promptly. Thank you for facilitating a wonderful start to our summer holiday :) !!

Great location and very friendly. Lots for the kids to do to keep them entertained.

  • "The venue was lovely and location excellent."

There was an issue with the fridge/freezer, the size was OK but there was no internal shelf and the door to the freezer compartment was broken and could only be closed with difficulty. There was also an issue with the swimming pools, neither had a rail by the steps. I have an arthritic knee and could only enter when others around to assist. I swim regularly on my own. This was a problem for me, particularly in the indoor pool where a rail or other could be easily fixed alongside the steps.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately I was only very recently made aware of the fridge issue - replacement parts have now been obtained. Apologies if this caused any inconvenience during your stay. There are many steps around the estate and there is indeed a safety rail installed along the steps from the outdoor pool to the indoor pool building - although I do acknowledge these steps are reasonably steep. • "Yes, the fridge is too small and its shelf was broken and balanced to look ok but was unusable."

My mum has a much more useful, yet still half size, fridge. Also the sink needs a drain clean as it glugs loud enough to hear from the car park, or wake you at night. The laundry dryer at 4quid (why? 20p in London) and didnt quite dry. Small things, otherwise the Colmer estate was super, relaxing and quiet and we enjoyed the super pools and easy shoert drives out to many pretty coves and small towns.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay at the Colmer Estate. I will investigate the communal tumble drier - no other comments have been received. If there is a plumbing issue with the kitchen sink it will be rectified. Property Owner

  • "We have had a lovely time at The Coach house, nice spacious accommodation and good size garden."

Lovely surroundings and the outdoor heated pool which made it for the kids as even when is was raining the kids were in the pool. Location was also good, took us about 20/30 minutes to get to different places apart from Torque which was about 50 mins. Little pub and a petrol station/spar shop within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Cottage was as expected - clean and tidy on arrival, all services working in the cottage."

The owner called me on arrival day to mention an issue the previous week which was fixed by the time we arrived. It was good that the owner called and wished us a good holiday. Facilites in wider Colmer Estate were as detailed, the outside pool was a success with the kids. If there is one area of upgrade that I would encourage the owner to consider is to put a simple wifi connection into the cottage. We knew it wasn't there but I was hoping that I could use my mobile phone roaming signal, however, Colmer and the immediate area seems to be in a particularly poor mobile phone signal area. Wifi would have been very useful, to allow us to plan, book tickets etc. rather than having to leave site all the time to do this.

  • "The coach House was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing break."

The indoor pool and gym could be used at anytime (maybe not during school holidays though) and the grounds were a pleasure to walk around. The garden was a sun trap and was a pleasure to sit out of an evening. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quite relaxing break.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at The Coach House. The gym and indoor pool are available for use all year round and the outdoor pool is heated from the end of May until early September. We hope to be able to welcome you again to the Coach House in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a few issues with the cottage: - There was no wi-fi or mobile signal available."

This made it impossible to plan or book anything to do locally without a trip up the road. I'm aware that the cottage listing doesn't mention wi-fi anywhere but it would seem essential in an area that has no mobile reception either. All the other cottages seemed to have wi-fi networks except this one for that reason. Some of our neighbours were good enough to let us use there's when we needed to call anywhere but this couldn't be done from our cottage. - The fridge in the kitchen needs to be fixed. It worked fine but is very small and all of the shelves inside the door are missing meaning you can fit even less in there. - The DVD player stopped working while we were there. Luckily we managed to get a DVD out before it stopped turning on all together. - The bed in the main bedroom is very small and uncomfortable. The room could easily accommodate something bigger. Other than the above we were very happy. It's a lovely cottage in a great estate. *** Owner Response *** Thank you for giving your comments after your recent stay at the Coach House. The property does not currently offer wi-fi which is accurately noted in the property description. Mobile phones can be used at Colmer - but given it's rural location signal is intermittent and some providers are better facilitated than others. The new fridge in the kitchen now has an added door shelf which will hopefully provide extra storage space. Unfortunately our stone built property which dates back to mid 18th century gives limited space to install a large kitchen! The DVD player has always worked well and unfortunately malfunctioned during your stay - it has since been replaced. The double bed is a standard double size and is a quality bed - no further comments have been received from other guests. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday and benefitted from the many facilities provided at the Colmer Estate***
