  • "This property is immaculate throughout."

I actually thought I was the first guest as it was so perfect! Everything from the bedding to the appliances, carpet and sofa are excellent quality. The view from all windows is stunning and we spent many hours watching the boats and sailing school from the living room. Every morning I took about 15 steps onto the gravel beach with my dog and it was bliss! Towels, bedding and hairdryer all provided. Although there are 3 floors I found the stairs easy to manage and actually not many steps they probably make 1 normal size staircase. As mentioned there is no parking at the property but there is a carpark about 5 mins walk away and some street parking just outside the carpark. This is a minor inconvenience but we soon got used to this as the village is so pretty and welcoming you forget about the car quite quickly. The Swan Inn served lovely food and had a great atmosphere day and night… we whiled away many hours watching cyclists pass by. The Swan Inn and train station and corner shop are 2 to 3 mins walk away. This little cottage would be perfect for someone travelling alone as it’s do central to everything. Thank you ‘Alongside’.

We’re delighted you had such a happy stay at Alongside. Like you we love whiling away the hours looking at the ever changing views, heading out for a dog walk or popping to the Swan for a great pub lunch. We do hope you’ll come back another time and do it all over again! Property Owner

  • "The property description and photos accurately manage your expectations in respect of this lovely dog friendly cottage, it's facilities, accessibility, central location and nearby facilities including parking availblity, local pub, cafe and station."

The property is pristine, equipped to a high specification and delightfully furnished to maximise the space available. The bed has a comfortable mattress and quality bed linen. The stairs to 1st and 2nd floor living room and bedroom could be a challenge for the less mobile but grab handrails have been thoughtfully located to provide assistance. The property is located at the end of a small terrace "alongside" access to a small "beach" next to Peter's Tower where you can sit to enjoy the gentle lapping of the Exe Estuary tide and a sundowner watching the sun set. Trains run approx every half an hour with Exmouth, Exton and Topsham just minutes away, the latter providing a good choice of pubs and dining options.

Thank you very much for your lovely review and for being such wonderful guests. We’re so happy you love “Alongside” and its location as much as we do. We hope you’ll come to back to stay again. You’d be very welcome. Property Owner

Lympstone

Nestled on the eastern shore of the stunning Exe Estuary, Lympstone is a picturesque fishing village with a vibrant community centred around the harbour, foreshore, pub, shop, café, clock tower and art gallery. The village is on the SW Coastal Path, the longest National Trail in the country as well as the Exe Estuary Trail – 26 miles linking Lympstone with Exmouth, Exeter and Dawlish – offering an unforgettable experience for walkers and cyclists alike to enjoy stunning views across the estuary - recognised globally for its significant wildlife and habitats. As the River Exe is tidal, Lympstone constantly changes – at high tide there’s boating, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming. At low tide walking, rock pooling or crabbing from the harbour wall. Whatever the tide, you’ll find people birdwatching, painting, photographing or simply enjoying the exceptional west-facing views across the estuary with its ever-changing colours and textures.
Lympstone has its own train station with regular trains to the historic Cathedral City of Exeter and beyond. The traditional seaside town of Exmouth is just 3 miles away with its two miles of golden sandy beach making it perfect for watersports enthusiasts to enjoy kite surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, SUP, wakeboarding and water-skiing or families to enjoy a day on the beach. Exmouth lies at the gateway of The Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site dating back over 250 million years covering 95 miles of stunning coastline, rich in geological interest with spectacular scenery. Within a day’s trip the Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks can be explored. Lympstone is recognisable by its waterfront clock tower built in the 19th century by W.H. Peters as a memorial to his beloved wife. Peters also built several fishermen’s cottages in the village that still line the water today. Alongside Cottage is one of those fishermen’s cottages lovingly rennovated for the 21st century. We hope you enjoy your stay.
