Such welcoming hosts, pool fabulous for families, very restful.

Accommodation facilities brilliant Welcome pack with food brilliant.

Lighting brilliant. Maintenance not so great. Toilet bolt iffy. Front door lock temperamental. Opening windows need adjusting. Biggest problem was stairs handrail which was difficult to grip towards top and needs to be realigned to the left of stairs so that it can be extended beyond top stair so that it can be gripped before descent begins. Not safe for elderly as it is. Overall it was brilliant and couldn't be bettered.

A cosy charming, clean and well-equipped cottage.

We enjoyed the garden views, and a friendly dog. It was a good base to explore South Devon from. The host was extremely helpful especially as I left something behind which they graciously agreed to post back.

It would have really helped to have a mention of Millmans Cottages in the directions!

Lilac cottage was right round the back & I had to call the owner as I didn’t know it was part of Millmans Cottages! Lovely cottage full of character - although my 6’3” partner met the low beams a couple of times! The owners were lovely & very welcoming, as was Nutmeg their cute dog! A few of the fixtures & fittings were a little bit wobbly/plastic/cheap looking & the shower could have been more adjustable - again my 6’3” partner struggled. It was a shame that the pool was not in operation, again it would have been helpful to include this in the listing. Overall we had a lovely stay.

Lovely little quirky cottage, very clean and really well equipped by the friendly owners with a fabulous welcome pack and fresh flowers.

The garden and pool area also good and overall the property is excellent value for money. Marldon is a perfect location for visits to Totnes, Dartmouth ( steam railway from Paignton), Greenway, Coleton Fishacre & Compton Castle NT houses plus Buckfast Abbey & Berry Pomeroy.

A small cute cottage!

It’s a listed building so is restricted on what can be done. Has everything you need and the hosts are very welcoming! Loved the pool in the garden but unfortunately didn’t get to use it as we had ran out of time before going home! My only suggestion (definitely not a complaint) would be to have a king sized bed, and perhaps a power socket by the dresser. A lovely weekend in a really nice base.

Exceptionally clean and comfy accommodation, well stocked with provisions on arrival.

Lilac Cottage is a lovely little property set in the popular village of Marldon which is very handy for exploring the Torbay area.

The cottage is well kitted out with everything you need for a holiday break and the owners, who live next door, are very friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. All in all we had a fantastic week and would recommend Millmans Cottages to anyone.

Actually I was given a free upgrade, so I stayed in Lily Cottage, not Lilac.

The only shortcoming I would mention is that there is no DVD - aside from that I have no criticisms at all.

They left everything we needed from washing up liquid to bread and butter in a welcome pack.. the cottage was cosy and warm for our arrival as it October and a bit chilly would highly recommend a stay here will defiantly be returning ...

I spent a wonderful few days in this pretty cottage, set in a delightful garden alongside a lovely outdoor pool.

Every amenity and comfort was provided including a welcome food basket of essentials. A must to return to one day.

A great little place, full of character and ideally situated for exploring South Devon.

While it was small, just two floors, it had everything we needed and the owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The cottage was within walking distance of two recommended eating places and it was an easy drive to get to other centres and beaches. We'll definitely be going back again.

Lilac Cottage is a lovely little house with many character features.

It’s very comfortable and well appointed. I enjoyed my week there and it’s a great place from which to explore Devon.

Charming little cottage, equipped little kitchen plus a lovely welcome basket, everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

The hosts are lovely and very helpful, plus there is a pool. We enjoyed our little holiday and we couldn’t recommend it enough. We will be back next summer for sure.

Warm and welcoming, the owners left a food parcel with a good selection of essentials, they also provided everything you would need for an home from home experience.

Very comfortable ideal for two either a shout break or longer, short walk to the local bus stop. Although last bus back left Paignton at 5.55pm. A welcome bonus was the garden pool not big but perfect for chilling and relaxing when you get back after a busy day. There's also an assortment of garden games available, sun beds, tables with umbrellas. We loved it and if in the area we’d love to stay again. Highly recommended!

It was the perfect stay for what I needed.

A lovely peaceful cottage in a nice quiet village where I was able to get some downtime from the noise and busy home life and able to take time to plan my backpacking travels. Matt, Rob and Lisza were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was really comfortable nice for cosy nights in and the layout is really cool, exposed beams, the bedroom upstairs very spacious with a nice clean good size shower cubicle, basin & mirror. The kitchen had everything you need to cook yourself meals and a table by the window or nice comfy sofa for those lazy evenings. A great location for visiting seaside resorts like Paignton, Brixham and close to Totnes which is one of my favourite places in the UK! I would highly recommend it.

We actually stayed in Rose Cottage but all the cottages are very similar.

It had everything we needed and was really clean and comfortable. The area was lovely and quiet and the owners were really helpful. A great base to explore the area. Would highly recommend

The cottage is delightful.

Quirky and well equipped. The garden is absolutely beautiful. Shame we didn’t get better weather to enjoy it but that’s English weather! Very helpful, friendly owners. The only problem we had was that the settee was a bit low for my more mature and less mobile husband to get in and out of but that didn’t detract from our wonderful time at this lovely place.

Lilac Cottage lived up to it's name as the 'Quirky Cottage' It was well equipped and very comfortable and we really enjoyed staying there.

Our grateful thanks to our hosts for a wonderful welcome package and their help during our stay. Hope to return one day.

The cottage was lovely, very quaint and characterful.

The grounds, decking and pool were well planned out, large and well maintained. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The location is great. Providing a base to explore many of the beautiful places the area has on offer. The main improvement as it stands would be to have a more sturdy handrail on the stairs. The stairs are very steep (which is not an issue as that is clearly listed), but the handrail is very flimsy and did not feel strong enough to bear much weight at all. Making descending stairs more difficult. After talking to the owners they are planning an overhaul of the property. Eventually an upstairs toilet would be ideal. If you want a place to stay in Devon, which is handy for local attractions but peaceful, beautiful and with character, this will be a perfect choice.

Lovely accommodation in a ideal place for us.

We had been notified that we would not be staying in our original booking due to some issue.

Instead we had a upgrade that was most satisfactory. Warm welcome on arrival by our host, the cottage had everything you need. Nice touch is the "welcome basket " and fresh milk. The holiday cottage set in the old part of the village with a 5/10 min stroll to the pub. If ever in the area again would certainly like to stay again. Highly recommended

Very cosy cottage in a lovely village, lots of walks, coast and countryside, convenient for access to Paignton, Torquay, Brixham and Dartmouth, very helpful owners and generous welcome pack on arrival, much appreciated.

All amenities provided including very fast WiFi and smart TV including Netflix. The only slight issue was the step up to the toilet some may find a bit awkward. Had a fab week in October, would recommend.

We were upgraded to Rose Cottage and found it to be very clean and comfortable.

Everything worked as it should with great wifi and a cracking smart tv. Car parking was good but the exit onto a narrow road was made a bit more difficult due to some bushes that need cutting back. The present owners have only been there for a few months and i am sure what is already great will get better and better.

Absolutely wonderful setting , so relaxing , we had a lovely week here , lovely welcome pack and fresh flowers , friendly family made us feel so welcome , the pool was perfect set in a beautiful garden.

The owners were welcoming and friendly.

The cottage was clean and tidy and had some added touches. However, we felt that it possessed some challenges, particularly for older people or those with mobility issues. The stairs were difficult to negotiate and lacked a second handrail, The downstairs toilet was hard to use as the toilet pan was perched on a large step. The shower in the bedroom was very restrictive and hard to manoeuvre in. The issues were to do with the physical makeup up of the building and not to do with any shortcomings of the owners. It was cosy and secluded but these issues rather detracted from our enjoyment.

Now has low-back sofa instead of IKEA style chairs as illustrated. Friendly and helpful hosts, who sorted minor problems quickly. Good location with nearby footpaths and easy access to coast and moorland.

Excellent in every way

We had a relaxing and enjoyable four day break, based at Lilac Cottage.

We thought that this was a lovely cottage for two. The recent additions made by the new owner enhance the cottage and make it more cosy and comfortable. We loved the welcome pack. The location was good for visiting Coleton Fishacre NT, Kent’s Cavern and Dartmouth Steam Railway. We also enjoyed a tasty carvery and dessert at Ye Olde Smokey House.
