It was warm and comfortable, and the Pack Horse in Mark provided great meals and a friendly, safe environment. Also, the local shop provided plenty of ingredients for cooking in the lovely open plan kitchen/lounge, and we had a relaxing week enjoying the scenery. One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

The owners are lovely people and it makes a world of difference them living on site. A real treat to be surrounded by flowers and lawns. Great to sit under the parasol. Very well furnished and equipped cottage. The owner told us that she furnished it to the same standard as her home. The location is lovely - in the middle of nowhere but only eight minutes to the motorway. Excellent wifi. Our dog loved it. All in all a lovely holiday in a very comfortable cottage. Would we return? YES!!!!

  • "Pear Tree cottage was gorgeous and exceeded our expectations."

The owner was really helpful and even offered to pick up some groceries as our car had broken down! There had been a lot of effort to make the cottage look festive with tasteful decorations as indeed was the tasteful decor. All needs were catered for in the fully equipped kitchen. It was warm cosy, the beds were really comfy and I can't fault anything! It is a great base from which to explore Somerset and blissfully quiet! We will definitely be back!

It had been raining all day but there she was and the log burner was roaring away making up for a very miserable journey. Cottage was well laid out and we could not have asked for anything more. So forget the time of the year and the weather it could not have been better.

  • "Really nice cottage with everything you could need in it."

Lovely garden . . Lovely owners. Nothing was any trouble to them (but they were not intrusive) and by the end of the week we felt that we had known them for ages. The area was peaceful, people were friendly. Village only one mile. We were lucky to have a couple of really hot days so it was nice to sit outside the cottage under the umbrella for a few hours. The small caravan field is no problem, in fact we took our dog for a run up there every morning and evening. We met some really nice caravan owners to chat to. Burnham on Sea is only 10 minutes away by car. No dogs on the beach but Apex Park (free to park) at the far end is great for dog walking. Takes about 40 minutes to walk around the lake and then plenty of picnic benches and seats. A catering van plus ice cream van are in the car park. All in all a lovely place to spend a couple of hours or more with or without a dog and less than 10 minutes from cottage. We also loved Wells only 13 miles away. And Clark’s Village, Street for shopping. Weston Super Mare is only 15 minutes away. We would highly recommend Pear Tree Cottage.

The cottage was very clean & had all necessities we could want, even a lovely log burner, with a starter pack. Fresh flowers. We really enjoyed our stay at Pear Tree Cottage & would recommend it to any one, who would like a peaceful quality cottage to stay in.

The cottage was very well cared for and the owner very friendly and helpful. This cottage is on the Somerset levels and there is a field "drain" running alongside the garden making the cottage not suitable for small children unless well supervised. This is stated in the details of the cottage. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and are hoping to return next year.

About the location

Burnham-on-Sea 5 miles; Glastonbury 11 miles.

The pretty village of Mark is situated in the heart of the beautiful Somerset Levels, and is criss-crossed by long watery rhynes, which drain the wetlands for pasture, aiding the production of fine Somerset cheese. The village boasts an ancient church, built in honour of St Mark, as well as excellent walking and cycle paths, and a variety of rare species of birds, making it a haven for twitchers! Situated at the mouth of the River Parrett and Bridgewater Bay, the popular seaside resort of Burnham-on-Sea is just 4 miles away. With views across to distant Wales, and 7 miles of sandy beaches and dunes, the town also boasts Britain's shortest pier and some of the most distinctive lighthouses around, as well as the marble carvings of Sir Christopher Wren in its parish church. The Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Weston-super-Mare, ancient Glastonbury and the cathedral city of Wells are all within easy driving distance. A fantastic location for a varied holiday at any time of the year.
