  • "The barn exceeded all our expectations."

It was spotless, cosy and inviting. Everything you would want or need was supplied to a very high standard. Our host Shaun was an absolute pleasure, warm, kind, friendly, unintrusive, but always on hand to assist if required. His daughters were an enormous help with the more technical aspects i.e working the projector, setting up the firestick! Thank you ladies.

  • "Spent an extended period of time at Becket’s Farm."

It really was a home away from home. Weena and Shaun were wonderful hosts, bringing fresh plums and cheerfully gluing on the sole of a well worn running shoe. Also the ride in Shaun’s vintage car was a real treat. Everything was spotless, well thought out and welcoming. Beds were really comfortable. We cooked many meals as the kitchen was very well equipped. Location is very special, with a great view from the balcony. All in all, nothing but perfection!

  • "The property was amazing and completed to a very high standard."

Bed was comfortable and the bathroom fitted with a very good shower. The kitchen well equipped and a had full range of cooking utensils. We particularly liked the balcony with its view over to the church. The striking of the church bell for the quarter hours and hours did not disturb us at all. The provision of a projector and screen was a lovely add on. Having logged on to our amazon account we were able to enjoy a film in the evening. Shaun and Wenna were lovely hosts and very helpful with any enquiry. The local pub, less than 5 mins walk, was really good and served lovely food on the evening we ate there. We would go to this property again.

The projector was awesome on the afternoon it rained and the hot tub superb. The picture window bifold doors beats the telly any day with lovely views of the birds (local buzzard!) and lovely walks in the lanes. The Friday morning breakfast at the pub around the corner was awesome too. Hosts were super accommodating and we highly recommend it and are likely to stay again as we had such an amazing relaxing stay.

The property

Nestled within the heart of Northlew, a chocolate box village in Devon is Becket's Barn, a sympathetically-restored, reverse-level barn conversion.

Resting paces away from the village pub, whilst within driving distance of Dartmoor National Park, Becket's Barn offers a fabulous base for a rural getaway, inviting for guests.

Within the courtyard of a medieval farmhouse, the accommodation boasts two off-road parking spaces, a hot tub for the exclusive use of guests, a private dining terrace, and a snug seating area complete with firepit for nights spent under the starry sky.

Step indoors to be greeted by a stunning, spiral staircase, guiding you up to the open-plan living space, adorned with hand-crafted oak roof trusses, and a contemporary interior.

Use this space to prepare delicious meals in the sleek kitchen, dine as a four, and unwind upon the Chesterfield sofas, selecting between the Smart TV and projector for entertainment.

Step out onto the balcony to take in the breath-taking views across the beautiful ancient churchyard whilst you dine alfresco and toast to your getaway to the accompaniment of glorious birdsong.

As the sun sets, retreat to the ground floor where you'll find two, well-appointed double bedrooms, both featuring exposed stonework, plush bedding, and decadent en-suite shower rooms, providing plenty of space to refresh and unwind.

Come morning, head to the neighbouring market town of Hatherleigh to stock up on supplies at the Co-Op, before you travel to nearby Okehampton to tour the Museum of Dartmoor Life, discover the remains of Okehampton Castle, practise your swing at Okehampton Golf Club, or hike around the landscape of Meldon Viaduct.

Head for the national park, brimming with beauty spots, with the Black-a-Tor Copse National Nature Reserve ready to be explored, or follow the walking trail up to Higher Tor for picturesque, elevated views across the county.

Pay a visit to Lydford, where you can stroll around Lydford Gorge, with the Devil's Cauldron Trail recognised as a favoured route to follow, resting alongside River Lyd, or opt for a more leisurely activity by visiting Lydford Gorge Alpacas, before returning home for sundowners.

If you're celebrating a special occasion, round off your break with a chauffeur-driven evening out in the owners’ beautiful classic 1947 Riley RMA car to dine at one of the fine local pubs or restaurants before heading back to Becket’s for a night cap on the balcony.

Escape to rural Devon at Becket's Barn.
