"Very disappointed upon arrival."
What the lodge is nice, there was an awful sewage like stench outside the property and in the bathroom of one of the bedrooms. The decking was covered in leaves and the table and chairs covered in bird droppings. Whilst I appreciate there are trees surrounding the lodge, the amount present clearly indicated it had not been cleaned and swept in days. I contacted the housekeeper, as advised on instructions, to be told they only deal with the inside. The property manager finally called me and attended the property. I advised I had had to spray copious amounts of perfume to try and get rid of the stench. They told me they could not smell sewage, only damp. The smell returned a couple of days later, I may contact but did not receive a reply until I had been home a couple of days!
I since looked through reviews and there is one on this site from back in April where a guest complains about the state of the outside decking and furniture. At the time the manager accepted the outside needed to be sorted. They also complain about a Christmas tree being in a wardrobe, that is still
Present. I have requested a partial
Refund, only for this to be denied. Terrible service and would definitely not be returning. I do not recommend this lodge. It’s a shame as it has the capability of being great. Attention to detail would certainly improve it.

"This property is well situated being close to the shop, cafe and pub."
The lodge we stayed in looked a bit unloved outside, as did some of the other lodges. The garden furniture and decking needed a wash down. Inside was okay, but a few things could be improved. The kitchen could be better equipped, only five mugs, so no point in putting them in the dishwasher, but a cupboard full of glasses! No kitchen scissors, no measuring jug, and only two small saucepans. The settee was uncomfortable, and the room could do with some coat hooks on the wall. The bedrooms need blinds that block out the light. The wardrobe in the twin bedded room had little storage, due to an empty cardboard box and a Christmas tree being stored inside, and very few coat hangers. The duvet cover had marks on it, it looked as though it had been washed but a previous stain hadn't completely come out. My son who slept in the double bedroom said the bed was uncomfortable.
Newton Ferrers is a lovely village to stay in, we had sunny weather and no rain, so enjoyed our holiday, but we expected the lodge to be better than it was.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We really appreciate you letting us know about these points.
The exterior of the lodge is scheduled to be pressure washed, and the outdoor chairs will also be cleaned. This has been slightly delayed due to ongoing bookings, but this will be completed in due course.
Our housekeeping team will check for kitchen scissors and a measuring jug to ensure these are available for future guests. There should be a full set of saucepans in the cupboards, specifically induction-safe pans, and it’s possible that they may have also been stored in one of the other cupboards.
Regarding the sofa, it is a leather sofa and we’ve not had previous feedback to suggest it is uncomfortable, though we do understand that comfort can be quite subjective. The same applies to the beds — everyone has different preferences, but we will certainly keep your comments in mind.
We will remove the Christmas tree and storage box from the wardrobe to ensure the space is fully clear for guests’ use. Blackout curtains won’t be added at this time, but we appreciate the suggestion and your thoughts. Our housekeeper will check the duvet cover and the coat hangers.
Thank you again for your helpful feedback — it helps keep us to keep improving the experience for our guests.

"Cabin was lovely and clean with a beautiful shower
The only thing was the sofas were very uncomfortable so we struggled to sit on them in the evenings ."
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the lodge. We are sorry that you found the sofas uncomfortable, we have not received comments from any previous guests about the sofas being uncomfortable. The photos on the website, do show that they are leather sofas, so maybe not what you are used to at home. Aside from this we do hope that you enjoyed your stay.

"Wide doors easy access for disabled but non of the furnishing were disabled friendly unfortunately."
Toilets too low and all sofas too low but in excel condition.
The high shrubs at front of property meant decking was damp and no sun ...trimmed much lower would have been perfect. Overall not suitable for disabled but still lovely break.

"The lodge is excellent and disability friendly."
Very spacious and bedrooms extremely comfortable. A large deck surrounds the lodge, all of which is wheelchair friendly, although can be a bit slippy due to falling leaves. Nice big table and chairs outside. Once you go through the gate however it’s a gravel road and the cabin is at the bottom of a slope, so you would have difficulty with a wheelchair or mobility scooter - we needed a car to get on and off the site.

"Best accomodation yet being able to get round in her powered chair was a god send."
The gravel road outside was a nightmare could do with one more row of paving stones it would make it easier getting my wife into car with out getting stuck in gravel . Other than that brilliant would book again next year if we're well enough.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property. We will look into this, however the gravelled area belongs to the site. It would be lovely to be able to welcome you back again next year

"The only thing I could fault would be the need for a welcome package with details of surrounding area ie doctor, pharmacy, local shops and places to eat."
Other than that a lovely stay in peaceful surrounding. Hedgehog not sighted but rabbits certainly were.

"Lovely place to stay, kitchen has everything you need and even came with milk in the fridge and a few extra bits."
Towels and bedding very clean. The bed was a little uncomfortable but that’s probably more personal preference. A little more information on how to operate heating, things to do in the local area and how things are preferred to be left upon checkout (such as where to leave bedding etc) would be ideal but overall really nice and would stay again. We also had the resident hedgehog visit every night :)
