  • "The location of the cottage was gorgeous and the instructions to get there were helpful."

However, the cottage lacked comfort and a few home basics, especially in the kitchen such as no pint glasses, garlic press, cheese grater etc. The big issue was the garden furniture, it was so uncomfortable , and we had gorgeous weather the 2nd week we stayed so couldn't make the most of the garden! The chairs were small and after half hour sitting on them, you couldn't sit on them any longer , they were that uncomfortable. When we arrived, I had to wipe all the kitchen surfaces, before I felt I could use them and the main bathroom, the broken lamp shade, shards of glass were in the bath! The blinds on the windows, did nothing and the sun shone through them at 5am, if not earlier! Thankfully we had bought our eye masks! However, the main super king size bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot. The living room was cosy with comfy sofas. I expected a little more, for the price we paid, especially compared to other cottages, farm houses we have stayed in, in the UK.

I’m sorry the cottage didn’t meet your exact requirements. It would be difficult to provide specific items to please every guest, however, the kitchen is fully and adequately equipped with all essential items you would expect to have in any holiday property. Large highball glasses are supplied which suffice for any form of cold beverage and a selection of knives is provided which can be used for any type of fruit, vegetable and other food items. There is a cheese grater, It has now been re-homed to a different cupboard so it is more noticeable. The garden chairs are a standard size and cushions are supplied for comfort. The furniture set is very visible in the property listing. The kitchen surfaces are thoroughly cleaned during each changeover. The worktop is made of natural materials and therefore looks patchy in places but they are certainly clean and hygienic. The blinds in the master bedroom are fitted and dark in colour providing sufficient shade and privacy. The twin bedroom benefits from a black out blind. I’m pleased the beds and sofas were acceptable! I want my guests to have the best possible experience at the cottage and as Dartmoor is such a beautiful place for exploring and enjoying the outdoors I have ensured the beds and sofas are super comfortable and of good quality so guests can relax, have a good nights sleep and feel at home after enjoying all that Dartmoor has to offer. The price you paid for your stay was worked out using dynamic pricing which is based on market demand, supply, competitor pricing and time specific factors. The property listing is very accurate too with clear photos of what you are getting for your money. Sincere apologies about the broken lampshade which my cleaner did bring to my attention. A part had been missed and discovered behind the vase on the windowsill, simply an oversight. It is always advisable to check with the agent before booking if you have very specific requirement. The cottage is tasteful and lovely and warm. Easy access to different aspects of Dartmoor, we loved Lustleigh Cleve and The Two Moors Way at Grimspound. Happy hiking! We would love to come back.

  • "Wow! What perfection!"

Both location and cottage. We have stayed in many cottages over the years but never one as lovely as this. I loved all the quirky touches but the squirrel doorstep was my favourite!! My best ever meal a lentil curry at The Ring of Bells. Divine flavours. The weather has been very atmospheric and we feel we have experienced the moor perfectly. With our thanks, Lynda & Mark

  • "The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped."

It is in the most delightful location with a lovely walk straight from.the back door along the river. Having good broadband was also appreciated as my husband had to work and although many cottages claim to have good speed it isn't always the case but here it is. We would definitely like to return.

  • "Lovely cosy home, very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and all was spotlessly clean."

The heating was very easy to control. This was a short break so we didn't need to use washing machine and dryer but these would have been very useful if staying longer. We were able to do some lovely walks from the cottage. The parking opposite the cottage was very challenging as two other cars from other properties were there all weekend. Perhaps this needs to be highlighted in the advert more clearly. The addition of some coat hooks in the hallway would have been useful. Perhaps a cafetiere would also be good. The showers were brilliant. Good pressure, lots of hot water. But the ensuite shower in the main bedroom was a bit tricky to turn off completely. Thankyou for a lovely break

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you had a lovely stay. Sorry to hear you were unlucky with parking availability. This happens very rarely (if ever) and more parking is available a short distance along the road, towards the village center. We will update the advert as suggested - thank you. We do have a cafetière available at the property, sorry you couldn’t find it. We will have a rethink of organisation in the kitchen. Hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

The cottage was clean and comfortable, had everything you needed for a great stay. We couldn’t have wished for more. Our hosts provided a lovely welcome pack for us and Archie our dog. Wonderful walks straight from the back door and in beautiful settings. You are right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and not far to the coast as well. Lovely pub a walk away.We would certainly go back there again.
