    “Super cottage, our 5th visit.”

So this says it all. Bit disappointed that the previous week's guests were left wine and cake, whereas a basic not even any milk was left for us for a much deserving coffee on arrival. We were careless enough to pull the door to and get locked out mid week. Rang the first number...no, we couldn't leave an email. Rang the second mobile number....no answer. Jackie, our last resort at Helpful Holidays was excellent, professional and helpful. Seems that this has been an issue before us, so a 2nd keysafe has been installed. Had we have been able to contact the Caretaker first thing (or read this in the cotttage info on our arrival, had it been there) ..we would not have had to worry (despite it being our fault) and resolved in a few minutes.

The property

This 18th century terraced cottage is located in Noss Mayo, facing the river across a lane.

With homely comfort, period features and designer fabrics and furnishings, this is charming accommodation.

Traditional stable doors lead into the sitting room, all cosy and snug with a sofa bed for convenient sleeping arrangements.

The two en suite double bedrooms are on the two levels, with a smart kitchen on the first floor where you can open the back door to the garden on a sunny day.

This garden at the rear is terraced, with steps taking you up to a sunny elevated decked area where you can see the river between rooftops.

You have the bonus of a second outdoor seating area down by the river, accessed across the lane and with a table and chairs.

You need only to stroll 200 yards to relax in one of the friendly pubs, which offer a tempting menu too.

Plymouth has all the city amenities you could wish for, with restaurants, a theatre and history to explore.

Around the village are lots of activities to experience, from sailing to paddle boarding, riding and tennis.

And of course, the lovely coastline is the focal point of this South Devon region, with a beautiful sandy beach at Mothecombe and a brilliant beach at Wembury for rock pooling, swimming and visiting the marine conservation centre.

With all this surrounding the cottage, Cherry Tree Cottage is a lovely place for a relaxing break.

About the location

NOSS MAYO

Newton Ferrers 1 mile; Plymouth 10 miles

The tiny, pretty village of Noss Mayo is hidden away on the southern bank of the Yealm Estuary and is home to two good pubs. Across the water is the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and you can get between the two villages by a causeway at low tide and a seasonal ferry that operates a triangular route and calls in at the SW Coastal Path, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers. Newton Ferrers has a local butcher, chemist and Post Office. The village pub has fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.
