Kittiwake

We enjoyed our stay - the house was in a lovely position overlooking the creek, with a wonderful balcony it was quiet and peaceful.

The parking spaces are a real bonus. The house itself was very warm and comfortable, very clean and tidy with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The kitchen equipment was plentiful and generous. We enjoyed our holiday here.

Kittiwake is a beautiful holiday home with fabulous views over the creek in Noss Mayo.

It is very comfortable, well equipped and extremely clean. There’s plenty of fridge and freezer space, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The owners left us a delicious homemade cake and a pint of milk which was much appreciated. We highly recommend this property.

We know that you mentioned shower room reached by outside but this should be mentioned when you list the property has two bathrooms.

If you are unable to step into the bath you have to go outside for your daily shower - not always suitable for an older person especially when it is raining and outside rail wet and steep steps down to get to “the cabin “. Also found drive in and out of Noss Mayo very busy with very narrow roads. Not for us I am afraid.

Loved the downstairs sleeping ( much cooler)!. The property lacked nothing, I can't say enough about it other than fantastic.

Communication with owners was excellent and the arrival touches of a cake and milk for a cuppa were welcoming. Only wish would be for an earlier booking in time. All in all we had a wonderful week in an excellent property in a lovely quiet village location, (excellent weather really added to the week ;-)), many thanks.

Kittiwake is comfortable and inviting with an open-plan layout that works really well.

Fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard and everything was spotlessly clean. The elevated location and balcony are superb with the views of Newton Creek and Noss village. Bedrooms are spacious and beds are comfortable.

A wonderful holiday.

Clean, comfortable, well equipped. Everything we hoped for and more. The owners take great care over making their guests' stay as memorable as possible. The open plan living area overlooking the village and the creek is so impressive. It's no surprise, reading the Visitors' book, that so many families return to enjoy Kittiwake again and again.

This is our second Christmas at kittiwake.

I would absolutely recommend staying here. It is beautiful and all the locals are so welcoming . The house is fantastic

The property is beautifully presented and has every facility anyone would need.

The view to the estuary is stunning and many happy hours were spent looking at the rowers on the river. The two pubs were both very welcoming and we had a couple of excellent meals. We look forward to making further bookings. PS. The welcoming cake was a very nice surprise.

The "cottage" was first class in every respect and information from the owners re the local area was extremely useful. A great holiday for us - only downside - we forgot to book the sunshine!

The property was in a good location. Unfortunately on our return home we were contacted and charged for damage to an item of furniture which was in perfect condition as we left. This unfortunately would put us off returning for future stays.

We had a wonderful stay at Kittiwake.

Amazing views, spotlessly clean, well equipped, beautiful decor and very comfortable beds. Lovely walks from the property and two great pubs close by. Being able to hire paddleboards was an added bonus, given the river location. The owners are local, so on hand if needed.

Beautifully appointed house , quality fixtures & fittings very well decorated & comfortable.

Just a few extras would have been beneficial, only one toilet roll available, no cleaning products available in case of a spillage, no foil, cling film or kitchen roll supplied. Overall a lovely property.

This is our second stay at Kittiwake and it didn't disappoint.

The house is well appointed, clean, and comfortable in a fabulous location with picturesque views across the Yealm, carry paddleboards to the watersedge, or follow the coastal path for some incredible walks including a small and beautiful cove to swim. All this as well as convenient local amenities and three pubs! We even enjoyed drinks by the firepit as the sunset. A perfect place to create some very happy family memories - we certainly hope to return.

As wrote in the guests book, will be booking again without doubt, it ticks all boxes and is superb place to stay, noss mayo and newton ferrers is our must come destination as usual.

Noss Mayo is one of our favourite places & Kittiwake is an absolute gem from which to explore it, making it easy to enjoy the walks & pubs & soak up the unique atmosphere.

It’s a lovely upside down house with superb views. There was homemade cake and a pint of milk, plus tea, coffee and sugar. Lots of birdsong but thankfully few gulls! We were blessed with the weather so did lots of bbqs but we did visit The Ship one evening and the food was really good. Thank you Annie and Iain for your hospitality!

Spotlessly clean.

Superb location with lovely views over the estuary. Parking for 2 cars was really convenient as parking in Noss Mayo is limited. Large garage was really useful for storing golf clubs & walking boots. Information on local walks was very welcome. And the weather was good. We really enjoyed it.

No complaints at all.

Super clean and comfortable with everything a family would need for a short break. Maybe a few extra coat hangers would be useful as not much drawer space in the main bedroom, especially if more than one person using the room.

We could not fault Kittiwake, it was warm , comfortable and I loved the little cabin !

We had a very comfortable warm cosy week in Kittiwake.

A lovely home made cake greeted us on arrival.The views across the valley were beautiful in the Autumn sun.The food in the local pub was exceptional and everyone we met spoke to us which made us feel welcome. We enjoyed coastal walks.

Well equipped and comfortable, Kittiwake is a great base to explore the area - lots of walking routes on the doorstep.

Kittiwake is a lovely cottage in a great location.

But we will never use Sykes again due to the awful customer service we had from a previous rental.

Didn't get the high-chair we booked. No general information about the cottage which would be nice - why the name, how long it has been rented out for - who takes care of it. Welcome cake was a lovely touch - thank you.

Perfect week away, home from home & more, everything you could possibly need with an amazing view.

The Ship inn is an excellent place for a meal & stunning walks right on your door step. We will be back for a 3rd visit.

The cottage was very cosy, clean and comfortable.

My son loved sitting on the balcony watching the world go by. My grandson loved swimming in the river. The only downside for me personally was the tree that obscures the view. If the tree could be cut back it would of been perfect. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.

We loved our stay.

Great location for walking to beaches ( Stoke & Wembley), coastal walks stunning. Paddle boarding on the Yealm fantastic and our hosts were on hand to answer queries really promptly. Book tennis online ( it’s cheaper ) and make sure you have cash for the very EXPENSIVE ferryman. We visited Bigbury-On-Sea, Salcombe and Mothercome by car. We were blessed with incredible weather but even without that the house and location are perfect. Highly recommend.

Kittiwake is a delightful residence affording stunning views over the tidal reaches of the river Yealm looking across at Newton Ferres.

If you are looking for a peaceful beautiful area to stay, this hits all the spots. Delightful lower garden perfect for relaxing sun bathing and upper outdoor balcony dining area. The property within is very well appointed. The area has stunning walks available along the SW coastal path. In proximity by car to historic Plymouth and an hours drive or less to Dartmouth and Salcombe in the east or Looe in the west. Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island only 30 minutes away. During our 2 week stay we enjoyed superb weather and had a wonderful time.

What a wonderfully relaxing holiday.

The property, and location were above expectations, and the cleanliness and decor were faultless. We love Noss Mayo and Kittywake was the cherry on the cake. We will definitely be looking at a future booking.

Very clean and comfortable. The views were amazing. Had the most brilliant week and enjoyed many of the walks in the area. We ate in The Ship Inn a couple of nights and thoroughly enjoyed the food and hospitality. Highly recommended stay at Kittiwake.

The only problem that was a bit restrictive was:- we had 2 cars, if the house below us were at home (they had 3 cars) then one of their parked cars prevented one of our cars from leaving.

It was ok once they had left for work but nonetheless it was restrictive.

Kittiwake is a lovely holiday home with beautiful views in Noss Mayo.

Interior was immaculate. We would have loved a couple of folding deck/comfortable chairs to sit out on the balcony. We also missed having instructions on how to work oven timer/microwave. Also found 9am departure time a little early when self catering. We really enjoyed our week though and would love to return.

Our second visit to Kittiwake and it is probably our favourite holiday cottage.

It is comfortable, well equipped and has an outstanding view from the elevated balcony. We hardly left Noss Mayo for the whole week. The owners live just up the road so can respond quickly if there is a problem. Wonderful.

This holiday was booked before covid, I had to call and rebook which was done with no problems at all.

Kittiwake is a gorgeous house, one of the nicest and best equipped we have been to.

The area was new to us and we were delighted with the views from the balcony of the creek. We were 5 minutes from both pubs, they were great, just a shame that we were just a few days from being allowed to go in them! There were some good walks from the cottage, all provided by the owners and Noss Mayo is a very friendly village. Highly recommend staying at this lovely house.

Kittiwake cottage has a wonderful position overlooking Noss Mayo and Newton Creek.

It is comfortable and well equipped and there are plenty of walks right from the door, which is a real bonus. Great care had been taken with the cleaning and preparation which was very reassuring.

Fantastic relaxed setting ,beautiful views and fantastic spot to while away the minutes / hours watching the activities around you.

The accommodation was great and of a high specification. Very well equipped, obviously a lot of thought has been given to what guests may possibly need to make their stay very comfortable indeed . It was lovely to given direct contact to the owners and Iain and Annie who were absolutely fabulous too. We will absolutely recommend friends to consider a stay at Kittiwake and we hope to revisit again next year . Rachel and Steve

Kittiwake’s location is superb, with fabulous views over the creek leading into pretty village of Noss Mayo.

We enjoy canoeing and paddle boarding so to be able to just walk down to the creek and start paddling was amazing. Kittiwake itself was like home from home with everything you could ask for.

We very much enjoyed our week in Kittiwake and appreciate the efforts the owners had made to make it an enjoyable holiday.

The cottage itself is in a lovely location with beautiful views over the creek. We were very disappointed with the service you provided however as a company. We appreciate that it is difficult times, but as an excuse, it has worn very thin when you don't reply to emails or you don't answer your phone to answer queries we had as far back as June.

Beautiful property in an idyllic location.

This is a beautiful house with beautiful views that sits In a privileged spot within the sleepy village of Noss Mayo was the perfect base for us to explore the area.

The house has everything you need for a self catering family holiday, it was spotlessly clean ,cosy and warm . We especially enjoyed relaxing in front of the log fire and enjoying our breakfast in the open plan kitchen diner with views accross the bay. We would love to return , thankyou

The cottage was superb And the mince pies , clotted cream and a bottle of fizz waiting for us on arrival was totally unexpected. I would welcome anyone to find fault in this outstanding property .

Kittiwake is a superb house in Noss Mayo.

..everything about it is 'just right'. It is very tastefully decorated, warm and and has great views. There is good access to the coastal path and three great pubs within easy walking distance.

Personally found the beds a litttle soft and would have liked to have been able to have bedroom windows opened a little at night but they did not have a catch to do that.

Over all an excellant house to stay in. It might be useful to visitors to know of the single tract road to the locations which did occassionally cause issues when meeting a car coming the opposite way.

We had a great weeks holiday in this lovely house and lovely place (Noss Mayo ).

All was as expected only a little mention we did find that garden wooden chairs little hard and uncomfortable and had noticed in the picture they had shown rattan furniture.Might just be our age but thought I would say .thank you for the cake and the warm welcome Debbie .

If you're looking for the sunshine, this is the house to find find it!

We had such a lovely summer holiday at Kittiwake, the house is absolutely lovely and the view is just stunning. The house is just as the pictures show and has everything a family wants and needs. We were welcomed with cake and everything needed to make a hot drink and even wine! There is a big box of games in the living room that the kids enjoyed playing with and plenty of space for everyone. The third bedroom is an annex connected to the side of the house but has a separate entrance. As our children are small we decided not to use this room, as there is plenty of space in both other rooms to accommodate an extra bed/ cot. There is a lovely fire pan outside and everything supplied to have a fire (except matches). We toasted marshmallows and had fish and chips from the take-away van that comes on a Monday evening. Just down the hill from the house, less than a minutes walk is a big open field, tennis courts (adults £2.50/ children £1 - bring your own rackets) and wooden play area - which everyone really enjoyed. About 3 minutes walk form the house, is the creek side. We had lots of fun watching the tide come in and out. We ended up buying a boat, as it was so easy to carry down and had lots of fun paddling/ swimming and rowing the boat! The garage is an excellent place to store any equipment and had a full washing machine and dryer to use, which was really useful. There are two pubs within a 5 minute walk, we preferred the food at the The Ship but both were nice and The Swan does Chinese food on a Tuesday night. Noss Mayo itself is just a beautiful place to be but it doesn't take long to visit other areas too. We enjoyed River Dart Country Park, Cellars beach, Thurlestone Sands, House of Marbles, Salicombe and went on a boat trip from Brixham and saw dolphins! Kittiwake is an absolutely great house to stay in and throughly recommended. A big thank you to Iain and Annie for such a fabulous holiday house.

This was the first time the owners had rented Kittiwake out and were still finishing off when we arrived.

They asked us to leave a note with any issues/improvements we thought might be beneficial. This we did such as a laundry basket being required. This was identified on Wednesday and actioned the same day. There was also an issue with the door lock on the patio door. Reported to oweners at 11:30 am on Wednesday by voicemail and fixed by 2:30 pm. Excellent service. Nice cottage but somewhat over priced as 3rd bedroom is completely separate from the rest of the house
