  • "This was our second visit to 2 Old Home Farm, this time we stayed for a week."

As before, the property was very clean on arrival and well equipped with everything we needed. The location is lovely and peaceful but also very close to nearby towns & the beach at Lyme Regis. We were a family of 6 adults, 1 baby & 1 dog & there was plenty of space in the property for everyone. We just had a couple of niggles which I think have been mentioned in previous reviews. The shower in the downstairs shower room would not drain away. We used a plunger to help clear it but I think this needs looking at properly. The heating in the kitchen & downstairs shower room didn’t seem to work the whole week we were there & the door from the lounge out into the hall doesn’t shut properly. None of these things would prevent us from returning & we would happily come back again to 2 Old Home Farm

  • "Few things: Please sort out the upstairs main toilet door handle - adults can open it but my 13 & 10 year old got stuck in multiple times."

The downstairs shower is not blocked but overfills the tray after a 10 min shower ? Plumbing as it gurgles when the sink is used. A path to the back gate would be nice as it was very muddy and the cars are parked at the back of the property. It would be nice to have recycling facilities as we produced a lot of waste as we ate more convenience food and it was heartbreaking to not recycle what we could. Otherwise the property is beautifully decorated, spacious rooms, everything we needed for 3 family’s to interact but also have time out. My parents coped well there and that was what it was all about.

Could possibly do with the heating being put on for guests arriving.

  • "Thank you for a delightful break."

A perfect retreat for our family of three (adult) generations plus our dogs. All bedrooms are bright, spacious, clean and comfortable. The downstairs bedroom and shower room were perfect for Grandad. The large hallway is very large - an excellent area for dogs’ crates and bags upon arrival. The kitchen is clean, well equipped and everything works well. Good WiFi connection. The Estate is fabulous - wonderful to walk around. So much history! The path to the private beach is steep and not suitable at certain times of year or for everyone but our son said it was stunning. We, on the other hand only got so far but the track was gloriously unspoilt. We will look forward to returning.

Kitchen floor was filthy I was allergic so suspect maybe due to dogs and the agency not cleaning properly Someone was parked in both parking spots the entire stay. No logs left for the fire Bins overflowing A lovely building , nice bedrooms

  • "Almost everything was excellent."

Very spacious. Beds super-comfortable. Facilities great. Even the parking was fine. Other residents were interesting and friendly. Great for dogs; super walks in the grounds. The 'private beach' was, we found, inaccessible for anyone with dodgy knees. The descent is too steep. My only complaint is about the sink in the downstairs shower room. It was basically blocked, though the water would drain away in a few minutes. Effectively made it unusable for face-washing and a bit awkward for hand-washing and tooth-cleaning (the positioning of the cabinet didn't help the latter, either). We do intend to book for next year! Ideal spot for us, the children, grandchildren and dog!

  • "The Rousdon Estate is a fantastic place to stay."

There are good short walks around the estate with a lot of interesting and quirky buildings to look at. For longer walks, the massive plus is that the estate has its own path down to the Undercliff (about half way along) from where you can walk to Seaton or Lyme Regis. If you cross the Undercliff path the private path continues on to a private beach which was virtually deserted both times we went (although the path is quite challenging). 2, Old Home Farm itself is a very clean, airy and well-appointed house which had easily enough space and seats, etc for seven of us. The large fridge-freezer was particularly welcome as we did a lot of cooking ourselves. The house also has a nice sunny garden, front and back. We didn't have any of the problems previous guests had with showers (we've had a lot worse!) However, although it was very clean, we did have a few niggles about how the house had been left for us. First, we had asked (when booking and also by phone the week before we came) for both the beds in bedrooms 1 & 3 to be made up as superkings. We had received an email saying that this would be done but bedroom 3 was still a twin when we arrived. We had to zip-link it ourselves and luckily we had brought a spare double sheet and duvet. Second, like the previous reviewer in April we were pretty appalled to be greeted by a pile of 26 empty bottles just lying around outside the back of the house. Then we found a further 14 bottles in a food waste bin in the same location, making 40 in all. Clearly the cleaners expected that it was future guests' responsibility to dispose of their predecessors' empties. Anyway, we put them all in black sacks and put them in the orange top black bin - where all rubbish and recycling has to go - and put the bin out on Tuesday night for Wednesday collection. We found out about this in the guest book but it would be helpful if this info could be displayed more prominently. In addition, there was no outside bucket for cleaning our dog's paws after a muddy walk so we bought a Lyme Regis "Crab Bucket". Before leaving, we wrote "2, Old Home Farm" on this bucket and left it outside the back door for future dog owning guests to use, so we hope that it is still there. Finally, we would like to say that these were only minor irritations and we really enjoyed our stay at 2, Old Home Farm and on the Rousdon estate and would definitely recommend it

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed some lovely walks, and the natural surroundings of the Rousdon Estate. Apologies that we did not make-up the beds as requested by yourselves. We have updated the guest information to point them towards the Welcome Folder for rubbish disposal and collection instructions. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Just returned from a 3 night stay and wish we could have stayed longer."

We travelled as a family - 6 adults, 1 child & 1 dog and found the property to be very spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, water was always hot and the garden was pretty and safe for the dog. There were just a couple of negative things. One being all the showers were fairly weak, particularly the one over the bath. Secondly, the outside bins were full of rubbish from the previous occupants. We realise the bins are only emptied once per week but it did make it a bit tricky getting rid of our own rubbish. Plus, seeing a load of wine and beer bottles outside the property on arrival was a bit unsightly. The estate & surrounding area is lovely, very peaceful, with easy access to Lyme & other towns/villages. We would happily book this property again & hope to return next year.

  • "The property was lovely and we enjoyed the stay."

The surrounding grounds are great for a stroll or, if you own dogs, they are easily exercised without driving anywhere. There are a couple of criticisms, the ground floor shower kept flooding because there is an issue with water draining away, one of the reasons we chose this property was because my 86 year old father could use the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, the shower became unusable, rang the office and a maintenance person came out but the issue kept reoccurring. Only half of the toaster worked. The open fire was lovely but the fact the logs were stored outside uncovered meant that the logs were damp, an easy fix that would make a big difference.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will ask our team to take another look at the shower drain, attend to the toaster and ensure the logs are covered. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely property and is very well equipped."

We were very comfortable especially as there was plenty of wood to light the fire given the cold weather so we were very toasty. Our only slight concern was the length of time it took for the water cistern in the en suite bathroom to re-fill after flushing... Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

  • "We loved staying at 2 Old Home Farm."

We were dreaming of relaxing by an open fire, and the plentiful log supply made the dream come true! Luxurious bed linen and such comfortable beds meant good night's sleeps all round. The dogs were extremely happy with the garden, and we all loved the walks around the estate and local environs. A hiccup with the plumbing was solved quickly and without fuss, with a very helpful and friendly person on the phone, fielding our concerns. And what a lovely, airy, spacious house. We particularly loved the openness and grandeur of the hall, landing and staircase. Joyous! If we were to be really picky, perhaps there could be some larger bath towels in the mix.

  • "We had a lovely stay at 2 old home farm, the estate is beautiful, all the local residents we met was very friendly."

The house its self had everything you could need, the only issues we had was, in the main bedroom upstairs the end of the bed was broken, it was on the floor when we arrived. But during the week as I walked past it I scrapped my leg and cut it. I did leave a note as I felt this should be fixed before the next person stays there and happens again. Also there was 5 of us staying, there was only towels left our for 3 people, luckily we took beach towels too so had enough with us but if we hadn't it would have been a bit tricky. Apart from that we has a lovely time and I cant fault the house.

  • "Just the most beautiful place to relax for our fortnight in Devon."

The Estate is close enough to Lyme Regis for great beaches, cafes, bookshops, bakery and Tesco/Coop express with a largeTesco at Axemouth for more choice. The house offers comfortable, flexible accommodation with lovely room sizes. Perfect sized garden for our needs and secure. Everyone we met on the Estate were friendly and helpful; offering a lift from the entrance to the door on a day we were caught out by rain! The bus service to Lyme was regular, reasonably priced and on time. All in all, the whole family were very impressed with all the house and estate had to offer.
