    We have also never been to Devon before, the property was in a great location and has the most fabulous views of the estuary, only a 5 minute walk down into Salcombe with all it has to offer, pubs, cafes and lots of shops. The parking space was definitely an added bonus too. The property was spotless, very comfortable and well appointed. At the time of our stay the washing machine was out of order, which was a little inconvenient but I had received an email and small refund in way of apology prior to our arrival. Would definitely recommend!

  • "We have already recorded our reaction to the lack of a washer/dryer during our recent stay."

    However, to be clear; We booked this property ( again, many previous stays) as it is a great base, We arrived to find the washing machine not working. We spent quite some time googling the error code etc to try to fix it and called the office on the morning of Monday 9th May. We were told that an email had been sent to us. We later found this in our junk Mail. The email was dated 24 April, almost 2 weeks before our arrival. It stated that the washing machine would be “ unavailable” during our stay. We would like to know; What steps were taken in those two working weeks to either; 1. Repair the machine. 2. Replace the machine. It is not, from our perspective acceptable to declare the facility “unavailable”a poor choice of words at best. It was in the flat, it was available but was not working. No one, to our knowledge, visited the flat during our stay so we assume that the next customers will face the same inconvenience. We were looking at rebooking this flat in August for one week prior to our booking with you at 3 Church Hill flats in Salcombe but will not do so unless we are assured that this facility will be “available”. We work hard and look forward to our holidays. We are active people, swimming, running and so on when in Salcombe. It was a huge inconvenience not to have the machine working and the suggestion from the local office that we use the launderette in town was not acceptable. Did they seriously suggest that we walked down to town each morning to wash and they wait to dry our laundry? I would like your assurance that this reply is seen by the owners as we would be interested in their reaction to your handling of the situation. We appreciate that there are some situations when a problem may arise during a rental and a few days may elapse before a full repair or replacement is possible. However, this was not the case and we assume that you have removed the washing machine/ dryer from your website listing for this property so as not to mislead anyone looking to book it now. Due to the specialist nature of the appliance, unfortunately it was not quick to fix or replace.   • "We had a great time."

    The property is well situated and was clean and tidy, The living room and upstairs bedroom have lovely views, there is off road parking and it is easy to get to the main shopping street. The bedrooms are both nice, although it would be handy if the upstairs bath had a shower. Whilst the information says to bring oven gloves there are now lots of pairs! Do also watch out for the foil used to line the oven blocking the fan - this can considerably increase cooking times!

  • "Overall excellent."

    If I was going to be ultra critical the shower door was faulty, the shower head needs replacing, the radiator in the lounge was too small and the mattress on the double bed was too soft, but these are minor points the property was lovely, great views, fantastic location location and well equipped, would gladly stop there again. Superb.

  • "The flat was spotlessly clean with excellent facilities."

    Couldn’t fault it. The views from the flat are superb and being blessed with excellent weather we particularly liked the upstairs balcony and also the outside patio space. Parking space below was particularly useful. Excellent views have their downside - It is located half way up a steep hill and is a bit of a slog back up from Salcombe.

  • "Unfortunately when we arrived at 4 Blue View at 3."

    15 pm it was very disappointing to find the apartment had not been cleaned, the beds were not made and there was no sign of the cleaners. After a short period the cleaners turned up and did apologise for not having had time to clean the apartment. The lady said she had had to clean six places already that day. I'm afraid I was not a happy bunny and did say I expected to be able to access a cleaned and covid-19 prevention ready apartment upon arrival. My husband and I agreed to leave the property whilst it was cleaned but knew it would take quite some time to ensure it had been cleaned thoroughly. Whilst waiting in the car we saw both cleaners throw the dirty linen into the boot of their car and drive off! There was no explanation given. We went back to the apartment and I proceeded to clean it myself. I had just finished vacuuming and had started to make the bed when two ladies arrived from the office in Salcombe. They had been told, presumably by the cleaning ladies that "there was a problem" and these staff members from the office had been sent to make the apartment suitable for us "new arrivals". These members of staff were very apologetic and could see I was upset by the circumstances which had arisen. If only we had received a message via telephone or email, letting us know the property was not going to be available at the time stated, we would have delayed our arrival and the whole experience could have been avoided. It was disappointing as we had an especially long journey only to find that during the covid-19 virus, our apartment was not presented as it should have been. 4 Blue View itself is a lovely, well appointed property and we had an enjoyable week stay there.

  • "The flat was spotlessly clean as usual."

    We came with our daughter and 4 month old Grandson, and there was plenty of room for all his baby equipment and travel cot. We had 3 glorious days of Devon sunshine, warm enough for shorts on the balcony. It really was a tonic after a difficult year, and set us all up for Lockdown 2. We’ve booked again for March 2021.

  • "Apartment very clean."

    On arrival.Comfy bed and lovely shower.Sofas need to be replaced as becoming uncomfortable.Lovely views.Parking is very tight.But great to have parking.Salcombe is a lovely place.There is a steep climb back up from town, but a handy place to sit and enjoy the view halfway up.But be aware door to building can trap fingers when closing.Would recommend staying here.

  • "Blue View is in a perfect position!"

    The views from the apartment are stunning and Salcombe is easily accessible - just a short walk into town. The apartment itself is clean, spacious, very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Absolutely loved the little balcony on the top level and we really appreciated the 2 pairs of binoculars that were available so we could watch the activities on the water. We would love to return! One small piece of feedback - the en-suite bathroom would benefit from a shelf or cabinet on the wall as we had nowhere to place our washbag items.

  • "This was our third holiday in 4 Blue View."

    This property has the most amazing views of the Ria and from the top balcony the sea. We can spend hours watching the boats below us. The apartment is very comfortable and an easy distance to walk down into Salcombe for dinner. We love it and have already booked the same week next year!

  • "4 Blue View was a delightful apartment to stay in."

    It was well equipped and had wonderful views of the estuary. A couple of problems we had, were addressed very quickly by staff at Coast and Country Cottages. The staff we had dealings with in the office were extremely helpful and friendly. We have already paid a deposit on the property for next year!

  • "A fabulously positioned apartment with views that just keep on giving."

    Loved the upstairs balcony which is a great breakfast spot. We used the patio area, probably good if you are a family, but much preferred the balcony. A great addition. Easy to walk down to Fore street and all the eateries bit uphill back but that walks off pudding! Great walking from the doorstep and good weather meant no driving just heading off to local beaches. Negatives some of the doors needed a clean where fingers had been but that's a minor thing. Overall

The property

4 Blue View is a wonderful duplex apartment which has been newly redecorated in preparation for the 2020 season.

4 Blue View is situated in Devon Road approximately 10-15 minutes walk from Salcombe's delightful waterfront, shops, pubs, and restaurants.

The beautiful sandy beaches of East Portlemouth and Millbay can be quickly accessed via the small passenger ferry that runs from the town all year round. With two bedrooms in total, the master is an en suite with a King-size bed and plenty of clothes storage.

The second bedroom has two single beds and a picture window opening to a balcony with delightful views.

In addition to the en-suite is a family bathroom with a bath, hand basin, w.c and heated towel rail.

A cloakroom on the lower level offers a w.c and basin.

To the front of the apartment is a terraced area with a table, chairs and barbeque.

There is an allocated space for one medium sized car off-road beneath the building.

4 Blue View has a light and bright kitchen / lounge / dining room offering lovely views over the town, estuary and surrounding countryside, comfortable sofas and a Smart TV.

The modern kitchen has wall-mounted units, granite worktops, electric oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and Nespresso coffee machine (pods not supplied).

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
