  • "Large construction site next door spoiled the holiday."

    Inside the property it was very dusty in the kitchen and lounge, which we assumed was blowing in from the construction. The drive and bin area was blocked regularly by trademen's vans attending the site. Firstly, we should have been informed of the construction and the rate should have been amended. But for the construction work, it was a really lovely property.

We are pleased to hear that, aside from the neighbouring works, you found it to be a lovely place to stay. We are genuinely sorry that the construction activity next door detracted from your holiday. Prior to your arrival, we had been advised by the developers that the works were expected to be completed by May 2026, and we had also reached an agreement with them that contractors would not park outside the property or obstruct access. We were therefore disappointed to learn that this was not your experience. We completely understand your concerns regarding the dust and the disruption caused by vehicles associated with the site. Although the works are beyond our control, we take feedback such as this very seriously and will be raising these issues with the developers on both your behalf and ours. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding of a situation that was unfortunately outside our direct control.   • "The property is of course stunning two minor issues."

    The main bedroom door rattles in the wind and had to be wedged with loo paper to ensure a nights sleep and there needs to be a shower mat provided to avoid the elderly( us) slipping two reasons why we will not book this property again are Friday change over which resulted in our 6 hour drive becoming 8 hours start stop all the way from Essex and secondly asking the tenant to find the re cycling centre miles away is not acceptable Martin Henry

I’m so pleased to hear you found the property stunning, though I’m sorry that a couple of points detracted from your overall experience. We haven’t previously received any comments about the bedroom door rattling in windy conditions, but I’m grateful you mentioned it. We will certainly take a look and make any necessary adjustments to ensure it’s completely secure and quiet. Thank you as well for highlighting the shower mat. Your point about safety is entirely understood, and we will review this straight away to make sure guests feel comfortable and confident using the shower. I do appreciate that travelling on a Friday can make for a longer journey, particularly coming from Essex, and I’m sorry that this affected the start of your break. Our changeover days are fixed, but we understand that traffic at busy times can be frustrating. Regarding recycling, our intention is to support the local arrangements in place, though I’m sorry if this felt inconvenient during your stay.   • "Everything lived up to expectations especially the location of the property."

    The view of the coast from every balcony was beautiful, we had one stormy day that changed the view completely into yet another wonderful scene.

  • "The property is beautiful with stunning views, we had a fantastic weekend."

    The only minor disappointments being only having a cafetiere for coffee, for a property of this standard I would have expected to have a Nespresso or similar. Also the 9am check out was not the most relaxing end to our stay, and the earliest check out I have experienced in any self catering property.

    We have stayed in many houses/cottages over the past 20 years & this is by far the best yet. We would definitely love to come back. We had a Great holiday. There were 4 generations staying & it suited everyone. Great House. Well equipped. Comfortable. Great location. Love it!!!!!

  • "An absolutely stunning property, with amazing views, we all loved our stay and will return again."

    A short walk into Salcombe which is no problem as the views along the way make it worth every step. I cannot praise the property enough, extremely clean and the owners have thought of every little detail to make it special.

  • "I took my dad away to Courtenay Villa for his 50th birthday and wow, what a place!"

    Sadly, we were broken into by someone who claimed to be the owner during our stay. We felt threatened by the intruder and Sykes didn't take responsibility and action against that horrible, arrogant person. All in all, sadly it was a fearful experience and ruined my dad's 50th birthday celebration.

    Thank you for your feedback which is really disappointing but we want to assure you that there really was no intruder or break in and give a full explanation. Firstly we do value all our guests and privacy is of the up most importance. An important package had been delivered to our house Courtenay Villa and we asked our caretaker Chris to ask if he could pop in and see if the current guests minded if he collected it and put it in the garage. He knocked and politely asked if he could come and get the package and also checked you were all ok and were enjoying our family holiday home. Chris fed back to me that you were all lovely people and seemed very happy and enjoying the house. One of the owners then came to collect the parcel from the garage which is accessed separately to the house – he had left something in one of the landlords cupboards that he needed so rang the bell but there was no answer. He decided to quickly pop In through the garage to collect the item which was in a cupboard just next to the garage. In hindsight this was the wrong thing to do and he should have come back later and asked permission to come in so we do apologise for this. You were in fact in and he had a nice chat with you and you all seemed to be having a lovely time which he was really pleased by. All I can do is apologise but I want to make any future guests reading this understand that going forwards we have made sure that there won’t be any need for us to come into the main property unless there is a maintenance issue or emergency. This impressive accommodation is the perfect base for those seeking a relaxing getaway with all of their loved ones, with both North and South Sands beaches situated close by, ensuring a traditional Devon coastal getaway.

Be spoilt for choice by the sleeping accommodation that awaits you as the evening draws to a close, each designed to ensure a flexible sleeping arrangement to suit the needs of your group.

Here, you will find a super-king-size bedroom with glass doors offering views of the sea can be enjoyed as you wake up each morning.

On this floor you will also find a bunk bedroom and a double bedroom which also boasts pretty views of the coastline, whilst downstairs you will find a further double bedroom with a Juliette balcony and a twin bedroom with sea views.

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
