  • "Lovely house."

Comfortable beds. Good kitchen. Needs some maintenance (ie damp repairs). Extra shower needed for six guests. Downstairs lighting circuit continues to trip every day. Light needed by front gate steps.

  • "The property itself was great, if not particular clean."

The biggest issue was that there was no parking and the customer service from Coast&Country/Sykes Cottages was extremely poor when trying to resolve. You cannot speak to a person and the automated options are shut down after hours. Parking was advertised as being available and was one of the reasons we chose the property. When we arrived someone had parked blocking the garage so no parking was available within a 5 min walk - not ideal when you have just driven 4hrs!! Inside the house was fine. Bedrooms were the highlight, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was good, although one side of the oven appeared to be broken. Sitting rooms were ok, not particularly clean and a bit dated. Of particular frustration was lack of batteries in the TV remotes and the old TVs. Small details once fixed would make a world of difference!!

  • "The property was ideally situated but be aware it is on a hill (fine for us) Very dissapointed, the approach to the property was un Kempt and weeds approaching the property."

The garden grass was about 8 inches high, over grown and should have been cut and tidied there was no excuse for that as a holiday rental other than poor management. The property it's self needed a through DEEP clean....dirty, kitchen cupboards didn't shut properly, broken shelves in the fridges. The furniture and carpets in the front room need changing and up grading! setee seriously stained so it the carpet and rug.... (Fortunatly I took my own throws) other wise I certainly wouldn't want to have sat on it. There is also damp coming through the wall of the front bedroom. Stairs are steep, NO baby gate provided however we did ask and were declined. We also asked to take our own to be told it the pressure caused any damage we would be liable.....absolute joke considering this is not a highly maintained property. There was no concern regarding safty of a toddler! It was nice to have the table tennis in the garage. They also lost console games however the wired to these also need replacing, This property needs care and attention and bringing up to a higher cleaner standard and maintenance issues need addressing also the damp in the bedroom. The garden should have also been kept clean and tidy, This property is neglected which is such a shame Next door is a rental too and unfortunatly the owners adult children liked to party till 03.00 am dispite asking to be quiet!

  • "Thanks for creating such a home from home with so many thoughtful touches in every room and numerous beautiful pictures and so clean throughout."

To have two spacious lounges to choose from as well as the extensive dining table and area really gave us room to spread out. It is always a nice surprise to come and find the holiday home looks better than the website pics. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Salcombe and the surrounding area - we will be recommending Wedgewood to our friends.

Kitchen well equipped, quality linen, games room an added bonus! Not too far to town centre, tho steep steps / hill so perhaps not ideal for less able/fit guests.,

  • "A very good quality, spacious, property, very suitable for holidaymakers with dogs."

The only issue was being located in Alllanhayes as parking was a nightmare. As soon as you left your space it was taken and it meant parking well away, up the hill, on several occasions. Maybe make the garage available for holidaymakers?

  • "The property is in need of a deep clean and all round general tidy up with regards to decoration and furnishings."

Carpets, rugs and cushions stained, holes in cushion covers. Fridge in kitchen didnt look fit for purpose so used one in utility room. Washing machine didnt spin clothes so they came out soaking wet. The downstairs, due to glass roof got extremely hot. Its a very well placed property, and we had a lovely holiday, but the property is generally tired.

Unfortunately the kitchen we needed to clean before we used as it seemed to have been overlooked. Overall had a wonderful week and would come back to Salcombe.

However, we did think the bedlinen was a little tired and some was stained and when we stripped the beds, there were no mattress covers, which we were really surprised at! We would book again. Happy New Year!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay here at Wedgwood. Thank you for your comments regarding the linen, we have passed this onto to owner and have requested that mattress protectors and provided for future bookings. • "Good location not far to walk onto town and along to beach and ferries."

Some aspects of house starting to look ‘shabby’ door handles missing and outside skin of fridge door peeling with rickety windows in the wind and big gap under the front door. Lacked instructions to use household items such as TVs and cooker...found our way about it all after replacing ALL the batteries! Good amount of local info, warm and comfortable house.

Many thanks for leaving us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. We were only sorry you felt the property was beginning to look tired and have relayed this to the owner. We do hope that despite this, you enjoyed Salcombe and very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week in Wedgwood."

The house was clean, airy and spacious and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us and the dog, We loved the big kitchen/diner, which was well equipped for cooking our own meals. Unlike lots of holiday places I've been, where you end up with bags and boxes of food on the counters, at Wedgwood there was plenty of storage space in the kitchen. Having 2 fridges was an added luxury! It's a short walk down to the main town and harbour (and yes, it's a climb back, but all of Salcombe is hilly) so it's easy to explore the nearby beaches, boat trips, and all the local pubs and cafes. I'd definitely go again.

  • "The house is beginning to need a refresh ."

The brown carpet in the second lounge needs replacing and did not seem clean .I did not want the toddler sitting on it ,it also doesn't fit and restricts the door opening . We had a leak from the shower into this room and even though it was fixed within a day it is obvious from the stains on the ceiling it has happened before . None of the remote controls worked and we eventually had to work out how to use the TV etc using manual switches which was a pain . The high chair was replaced as the initial one was mouldy and the travel cot also smelt . Overall the property suited our needs but needs up dating .The new shower/bathroom and new utility are great. A total repaint is needed . I like my rental property to be as nice if not nicer than my own home and this was shabby . The sofa in the main lounge sheds feathers and the other two sofas need replacing .

Rooms were a good size and we all slept peacefully. Home from home. The children liked the Wii! And we liked the fact there were two lounges. Short walk to town. The garden could be made more secure for dogs. Otherwise hope to come back next year.

  • "We have stayed at the house 3 times and love it."

It is great to see work done on it each year, e.g. bathroom and paint outside. However a few things to note which I hope will be of benefit and some perhaps worth passing onto owner: -The top bedroom in roof can get seriously very hot in warm weather as there is no airflow (we brought a fan this year to help). This can be improved two ways; (1) fit an opening window behind bath (the current window doesn't open and double glazing has blown so likely needs replacing in due course), (2) the blocked up window behind wardrobe is painted black outside and this acts as massive heat soak (wall gets very hot)! Could it be painted another colour? -The lawn was not cut for a good few weeks (same last year), would have been nice since we have young children -Master bedroom on 1st floor has some large cracks in wall and could do coat of paint -Rear downstairs lounge has several areas were plaster/paint is failing and could do with repair (might be damp?) -Twin room has some broken bed slats. The frames were also very loose (I tightened some with allen keys start of the week). Thanks, Ross PS we would like to stay there again next year for salcombe week (7th July next year)

  • "Lovely house a bit shabby and worn in places probably could do with a good clean."

Would really benefit from another bathroom/shower and the garden area more secure for doggies!!

  • "House was clean and tidy, but looked a little tired in places."

The gloss work could do with touching up. The back door still was painted with undercoat. The bathrooms were scruffy and the toilet seat in the shower room needs replacing. It was positively unhygienic! There was no plastic laundry basket to put your clean washing in downstairs. The only place to put it was on the draining board by the sink but this had a piece of old rolled up carpet next to it and biscuit wrappers, and I had to rewash my laundry after I had placed it there. Limited garden furniture meant that if the house was fully occupied there would not be enough seating outside for everyone. I didn't see a BBQ there. The table mats were faded and scratched and need replacing. The master bed was amazingly comfortable, however the some of the mattress and pillow protectors were unclean. Sorry to sound like I'm complaining, but I have two rental properties myself and I just mean this to be constructive criticism. We were extremely grateful to have a property at the last minute and had a very comfortable stay!
