  • "This property is a recent quality refurbishment with a beautiful ‘seaside’ interior."

    It is exceptionally clean & generally well-presented. The property is headlined as a ‘cottage’. It is actually a 3-storey maisonette on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors of a 4-storey terraced house. It is described as having 5 bedrooms - we could only find 4. That is adequate for 7 people but there are only 6 dining chairs at the table. It has an unusual layout. The only toilet for general use is in the only bathroom, situated down 1 floor from the bedroom floor, and accessed through the kitchen. We like to self-cater but the kitchen lacked some basic equipment: medium saucepans, kitchen roll, etc. A teapot would be nice. There is full central heating, but it is controlled remotely by the owner via Hive or similar. If you return back from a long day walking the coast path, cold & wet-through from wind, rain & hailstorms (as we did one day), you need to have a warm house. This can only be achieved by contacting the local manager, who then contacts the owner, who relays a message back to us via the manager! This is very unsatisfactory & needs to be changed. Having said all this, it is reasonably priced & situated in an excellent location in the middle of town with a handy car park opposite.

    Dear Mrs Hine Many thanks for taking the time to review our property in lovely Teignmouth We have noted your comments and will certainly make amendments where necessary. With regard to the property being described as a ‘cottage’ and stating 5 bedrooms, as per the property information on Sykes website, it does state ‘3 storey apartment in Teignmouth’ and does advise there are four bedrooms. Perhaps you could let Sykes customer service team know where you have seen a description elsewhere that may not be accurate, thank you. Our central heating system is controlled remotely and this has proved satisfactory to our guests and is always adjusted promptly if requests received to increase/decrease temperatures. I note it was a cold/wet day and apologies if the 10/15 minutes it took to boost the temperature was not satisfactory. We will look at improving this of course Indeed a teapot is a requirement and I will replace the one that was there previously, it appears to have disappeared. Once again, many thanks for your review and we hope to welcome you back again to Sea Otter house where a teapot will be waiting for you! Kindest regards to you and your guests Sandy Property Owner

  • "A warm, spacious and well equipped property in a great central location close to both beaches and amenities."

    We have been coming to Teignmouth for years so were delighted to have found a place large enough to stay with our grandchildren and one which has been renovated so nicely.

  • "What a lovely house."

    Right in the middle of beaches and places to eat and drink, Plenty of space for 6 of us plus dog. Nice to have everything in walking distance but really quiet outside. Enjoyable few days had by all

  • "Thanks for the stay."

    .We put bins out tues but only recycling taken. Blind has clearly been an issue. Similar at my house needed plasterboard off and wood to fill void to allow heavy attachment. Special tool to attach to lintel

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Sea Otter House; it’s a stone’s throw from both beaches and the town, and the house itself was clean, spacious, bright and modern."

    I’m always grateful for a well-stocked kitchen utensil drawer and plenty of decent tableware! The loft room stairs are v steep but a door at the bottom of them would prevent little ones from attempting to go up them (my 5yo was able to navigate them supervised without much difficulty). A suggestion: the toilet in the loft was a welcome second loo in the property but a bamboo screen in front of it might be a useful addition to the room!

  • "Very accessible to everywhere and parking easy ."

    Also an enjoyable journey by train A well restored and modernised Georgian house The staircase to the top floor is a feat of carpentry and needs to be seen

  • "I had the benefit of staying in both properties, this one and the one bedroom flat below."

    The location is an easy walk from the train station and very close to the seafront. They're both a good size and recently refurbished to a high standard. I really enjoyed the open plan 1st floor and the light from the large windows at the front of the house. I would recommend paying attention to the owners' comments on space constraints and accessibility as this could affect your enjoyment of the property. There didn't appear to be a microwave or hairdryer in either property. This didn't affect my stay but is something to bear in mind.

    Beautifully presented property with everything you could need for a stay in Teignmouth. The property is walking distance to everything you need and the Arts District is right on the doorstep. I would recommend this property to anyone planning to stay in Teignmouth and would happily book again.

TEIGNMOUTH

Dartmoor National Park 12 miles; Torbay 13 miles; Exeter 15 miles.

The historic, seaside town of Teignmouth is situated in South Devon on the mouth of the Teign estuary and boasts a working harbour, sandy beach, Victorian pier, sailing club, diving centre and sea activity centre. The seaward side of the town is known as ‘the Den’ and has elegant Georgian buildings, a large public area with lawns, play areas, tennis courts, a bowling green, and a miniature lighthouse. On the opposite side of Teignmouth are fishing boats and beach huts, plus views of the village of Shaldon and the hills of Dartmoor can be seen. Teignmouth also hosts folk and jazz festivals each year, whilst both the town and Shaldon hold annual carnivals and water regattas.
