Superb property.

Clearly well thought out and overall the property is prepared to a very high specification. Lovely rural location with lovely views: wonderful peace and quiet

Our second stay at The Bothy and the accommodation was super clean again and had everything we needed.

We took long walks every day, directly from the property and can heartily recommend it, provided you don’t mind a few stiff climbs but that’s one of the charms of South Devon. The hot tub of course is a plus and relaxing in the warm water with a cool glass enjoying the view across the valley is a real pleasure. We certainly would like to visit again.

The location is absolutely beautiful, so quiet and peaceful. The accommodation was to a very high standard. We very much enjoyed the hot tub. We would definitely return again.

On first arriving at the property, The Bothy is a spotlessly clean modern barn conversion with a hot tub with amazing country views.

It is very rural and ideal if you want to get away from everything. We didn't see a sole at or near The Bothy for the whole week. We did however have some problems. This is the only cottage we have stayed at where there hasn't been a welcome pack, not even a pint of milk, considering you are miles away from any shops, remember to take everything that you need. The tv ariel was not plugged in, so took us a while to discover why the tv did not work. In total we had 5 spiders in the bedroom, some were under the bed amongst the cobwebs and dust! Which had obviously been there quite a while. Yes, we realise we are in the country but felt that attention to detail with cleaning under the bed should not be overlooked. There wasn't a shower mat for safety. The fan in the bathroom was full of dust and dirt. After our first hot tub we had no hot water. We found that the emersion wasn't turned on so we had used all of the hot water that was in the tank with our shower before the hot tub. We also had to turn on the towel rail. There is no exit from downstairs so feel that this could be a fire hazard if there was a fire upstairs. As there is no exit from downstairs to the outside, we had to shower downstairs and go upstairs to get out to the hot tub which is down some stone steps where there is no handrail and could be very slippery. You then have to go back up these steps, across the wooden floor inside the cottage and down the spiral staircase to get to the shower. We felt that if bath robes were supplied as they are with other cottages, this would have helped as you are setting up and closing the hot tub in freezing cold weather with just a towel around you (we visited in February). Also somewhere to put towels and robes (if provided) outside under cover would also help.

Very peaceful and lovely surroundings. The only draw back was the hot tub buzzing in the middle of the night but after a couple of nights we got used to it. Otherwise everything at the cottage is done to a high standard, beds comfy and good facilities. We really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We spent a lovely week at the Bothy.

It has lovely views of the surrounding countryside and is only a few mins drive away from Slapton. Dartmouth and Salcombe are within easy reach although would recommend sticking to the main roads and ignore sat nat as some of the roads are very narrow! We hope to return again soon.

This has to be one of the best cottages we have stayed in and the views were beautiful .

The only thing for me were the ants. Not to many for us in March but I can imagine in the summer there would be a lot more.

Felt just like home, but better! This is a fabulous property, with everything you could possibly need supplied for you. Would highly recommend this property for a relaxing stay.

Lovely property.

Everything was nice and clean. Hot tub was great after a day out walking. Loved sitting in the hot tub watching the sheep. We didn't use the kitchen for cooking but it seemed well equipped for if we had wanted to. The only negative was not being able to control the heating. Just a bitt too hot in the bedrooms for us. Would highly recommend The Bothy.

The views and the Bothy are lovely.

We found the heating a little too warm for us, it’s a very modern system that visitors can not adjust. The lanes through the village up are single track, and places to pass few. The peace when u arrive is worth it.

The Brothy was superb in every respect.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in. The views were amazing. It was well equipped and spacious. The hot tub was a definite bonus.

The Bothy is one of the loveliest cottages we have ever stayed at.

From the moment we rounded the bend in the track and saw it framed by idyllic fields, and with the backdrop of a blue, sparkling sea, we knew it was going to be a special place, and it was. It is completely self-contained - we didn't see another human being (apart from a farmer in the distance driving a hay baler and the occasional person who came to feed the sheep) the entire time we were in the cottage, and all we could hear was the wind in the trees, the birds and the aforementioned sheep, who were our welcome companions for the week. The views, from around the cottage and through the lounge windows, are sublime, and you can walk down the hill and into Slapton Wood which, again, was deserted and felt like our own private woodland. We heard so many species of birds, and saw both a barn owl and a tawny owl, which was wonderful! The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, and contained everything we needed for the week. The beds were really comfortable and, combined with the complete darkness and silence at night, gave us a week of great sleep. The hot tub is a lovely addition, particularly when sitting in it at night under the stars. The location of The Bothy is also ideal - we had days out in Brixham, Dartmouth and Salcombe, as well as a drive over Dartmoor. We walked the half a mile to one of the pubs in the village, and Slapton Nature Reserve (well worth a visit) and Slapton Sands are only a mile away. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing and nature-filled holiday, we couldn't recommend The Bothy more!

A beautifully appointed property set in the heart of the countryside and with stunning views in all directions.

We made full use of the hot tub, which manages privacy while still giving stunning views of the countryside, not to mention the birds feeding their young in the nest box in the oak overhead! We managed plenty of walking with several trips to the beach and a couple of pubs but we ate at the Bothy every night to make the most of the views. On 6 out of the 7 nights the weather was kind and we ate outside to the sound of lambs and owls. A brilliant holiday.

Fabulous place to stay.

A beautifully renovated building the perfect location for peace and quiet. Very well equipped and very comfortable. If you were going to choose a ‘bolt-hole’ and build it to a perfect specification this would be it!

A wonderful property equipped with absolutely everything we could have possibly hoped for, for a quiet, restful and enjoyable stay.

The location is second to none, both in good and bad weather - with dry moments presenting the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings whilst in colder, wet weather, the log-burner turns the Bothy into a lovely cozy space to watch the weather from. We will most certainly be back.

Isolated amongst fields. The Brothy was well maintained with good quality amenities. Loved the hot tub. Really recommend for anyone wanting a quiet time to relax.

Every thing fantastic

The Bothy has everything we look for in a holiday property.

The situation is fantastic being as rural as we could possibly wish for and yet very convenient for lovely towns, villages and seaside. We are always happy when we stay at the Bothy. It is now our third stay. We love the peace and quiet and especially watching the sheep. Loved it!

The peace & tranquility are second to none. A Unique & Contemporary Cottage set in the most beautiful countryside. What’s not to like. My wife was reading on the Deck when a Barn Owl landed on the fence not 10 feet away. The only issue is I wouldn’t like to keep opening the two gates in the rain. All in all a wonderful experience.

This was our third stay at The Bothy, and sadly our last.

We have had two exceptionally great holidays here in the past, but it seems the general care for the property is not obviously a priority for the owners anymore. We can not fault the location and setting of The Bothy, which is just so unique and the perfect place to get away for a relaxing break. Sadly, the bedding was very unclean on arrival along with generally everything in the house, we had to wash all the bedding and mattress protectors. Everything in the kitchen cupboards was really grubby, and had to be washed up. Not only was the cleanliness dreadful throughout, but a lot of things in the house don’t work properly or are broken, the list is endless! A real shame as it used to be our favourite place to stay and was always immaculately clean and well cared for, but unfortunately the location and setting do not make up for these issues.

The Bothy is a very comfortable, clean cottage with all mod-cons in a beautiful rural location near Slapton.

If you are seeking a quiet location in the countryside, surrounded by sheep, wild birds, and fine country views, this is the cottage for you. You will need a car to get around, although you will be a short drive from the village and the coast at Slapton Ley. Great coastal walks at Start Point and Little Dartmouth are within easy reach. We had a minor problem with low water pressure and the owners sorted it out very quickly.

Such a relaxing peaceful place to stay at The Bothy.

Everything you need for your holiday in the barn. So clean, quiet and a bonus with the hot tub. Listening to the sheep and wildlife is what a holiday is all about. A real good find and will definitely book again

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bothy, despite the weather although that did mean we got to use the wood burner which we probably would not have done otherwise.

We found the whole place clean, tidy and very comfortable especially the beds and everything worked perfectly. I would have only two minor suggestions, i) in terms of rubbish, apart from the "blue" cardboard bag it was not clear what could and should or could be put in the clear and black waste bags, so some comments in the cottage notes would be useful; ii) we were also not sure what bowls could be used in the microwave and whilst there were sufficient pans there were not any specific microwavable containers. But as I say very minor points and the Bothy is certainly somewhere we would use again if visiting Devon.

The Bothy is in a great location with wonderful views. The owners have thought of everything for the property and the house was very well equipped and beautifully furnished. Having a hot tub was a bonus and it was lovely sitting out and looking up at the stars. We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to visit again.

We had a lovely holiday at the bothy, and particularly loved the views, the sheep and the hot tub.

Unfortunately, hours of barking by an out of control sheep dog prevented us from booking again for the summer. The underfloor heating is not sufficient for the cold winter months. The bothy is tastefully furnished, but could do with some window dressing to keep out the dark. The place was superficially clean, but could do with a more thorough dusting. Please, replace the very dirty toilet brush.

It has everything we look for in a holiday cottage. It is in a fantastic position with panoramic views all around. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the sheep and simply the peace and quiet.

A beautiful property and stunning views! The hot tub was an added bonus and we enjoyed relaxing in it at the end of the day with a nice glass of wine whilst stargazing. The property was very clean, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the storage for clothes was the best we've ever had. We will certainly be booking again!

It is peaceful with gorgeous views across sheep filled fields. The property has been beautifully renovated with everything you need and more. Hot tub is in a lovely spot to relax and the outside dining and sun loungers catch sun all day. Perfect for your morning coffee/tea and then basking in the sun come afternoon and evening. Only 5 minutes away from slapton sands by car and situated perfectly for visiting the English riviera as well as the South Hams

The Bothy was everything we had hoped for and more.

For us, the combination of the quality of the property coupled with the peace, quiet and remoteness was perfect. Yes you need a car to get everywhere, but that is a small price to pay in my opinion. The central location enables you to access many of the wonders of the South Hams with ease. The owners of the property are on hand if needed, nothing is too much trouble for them. The Bothy is decorated, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Lovely touches abound including a night light in the bathroom, timed outside fairy lights above the hot tub area and plenty of logs for the fire pit for barbecuing or simply enjoying an evening outside with a glass or two watching the sunset. No surprise then that we have already rebooked for the same week next year.

The Bothy is really well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday.

the fact there were tablets for the washing machine and dishwasher just made everything really easy. The property is clean and has more than enough space for 4 people (we are a family of 4 with two late teenage sons). The fact the property is away from anything else was fantastic, real peace and quiet (apart from the odd bah of a sheep!). We have two kayaks with us and there was more than enough room to leave them outside, plus about 20 more! Lovely stone cottage, furnished to a very high standard in a very quiet location close to beach at Slapton (5 minutes by car, or 1/2 hour walk).

Beautiful holiday home with fantastic views.

Very modern and clean. Very comfortable. Only one thing that spoiled the holiday was the sheep farmers dogs that barked continuously.

We loved our stay at the Bothy.

The location is quiet and peaceful - a fabulous base for a very active week, my husband sea kayaking and I walking sections of the sw coastal path. The property is appointed with everything you could possibly need and finished to an extremely high standard. Slapton is a great village and we enjoyed both of the friendly pubs - a bonus was happening on open gardens weekend. The hot tub and the fire pit were particularly welcome. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

A better description on the approach to the property would be more beneficial.

Although the view is beautiful from the property some window dressings would be ideal at night. Better welcome pack on how to use things, only discovered the downstairs bedroom window fully opens which is ideal when using the Hot Tub. No instructions on how the cooker extractor works!

Beautiful property in a wonderful tranquil and peaceful location.

Comfy beds, good shower with lots of hot water, views of the fields and valley from every side of the living area and a hot tub to relax in. There was nothing to complain about, it was a truly relaxing and rejuvinating week at the Bothy, we hope to be back next year.

Absolutely beautiful location and views. The new hot tub was very much enjoyed as were the very comfortable beds and log burner. Couldn’t fault it whatsoever apart from we couldn’t see that we were able to alter the heating and found it a bit stifling in the mornings. But better than way round than being cold! Wonderful base for walking and getting to Salcombe and Dartmouth. I must apologise - a wine glass was chipped in the dish washer. I believe my friend left a note. Thank you so much for having us! The Bothy is a fantastic well designed and well equipped cottage.

It has real charm and provides excellent inside and outdoor space to relax in. On a personal note it would have been a little nicer to have been closer to Slapton Village and the Ley but this is compensated by the stunning views and tranquility of the surroundings offered by The Bothy

This is a quality barn conversion in a picturesque setting.

We enjoyed an excellent and very comfortable week here in peace and tranquility. Highly recommended. The owners provide dishwasher tablets, washing capsules, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, washing up liquid and so on. Suggest these useful things are added to the description.

The Bothy is a wonderful place that we have thoroughly enjoyed staying at on a couple of occasions.

The owner is helpful and easy to communicate with. Unfortunately the same can not be said of Sykes. We have tried ringing on four occasions - total waiting time an hour and a quarter - to ask a simple query and never got to speak to anyone. We then wrote a letter to their postal address as no email contact was findable and still no answer. We are still waiting and ask please for a representative from Sykes to contact us ASAP. We have used Helpful Holidays and then Sykes for 20 + years and will not book with them again unless we can speak to someone about our query. Their level of customer care is shocking compared to Helpful Holidays which we loved.

We had a fantastic holiday at The Bothy!

The house is beautiful, very well equipt and the views exceptional. We had some wonderful days out in Dartmouth, Torcross and enjoyed some fantastic views from the coastal footpath. I would highly recommend The Bothy as a base for exploring the area, the house is everything you could want in a holiday home! Hopefully we will be able to return soon!

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

The location was amazing, so tranquil and in beautiful surroundings. Hope to return in the future.

Everything new including a complete reverb even had heat pump operating under floor heating.

No worries about the virus well off the beaten track with sheep for neighbours but has easy access to road.

It was so peaceful and quiet. The cottage is so well equipped. We would highly recommend it

The Bothy is in a superb isolated position with beautiful views of rolling countryside - from the driveway there is also a tantilising view of the sea.

The cottage is extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. The owners thoughtfully provided an ample supply of shampoos , shower gel,dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc in fact anything you could possibly want. The welcome pack was much appreciated too. We arrived just before the government requested that we self isolate due to the coronavirus epidemic. I cannot think of a better place to be - we spent the last four days of our holiday in the cottage relaxing and enjoying watching the wildlife including a pair of hawks and a family of rabbits. We will definitely return.

There were initial difficulties with heating the owner or proprietor dealt with this efficiently.

They communicated well because they you know what was going on and then it was all sorted. Very well equipped kitchen including sharp knives. The first gate could have a better place for the pole to keep it in place when open.

The Bothy exceeded all our expectations.

A beautiful location and luxurious accomodation and facilities. We even picked fresh mushrooms in the field for breakfast. The only problem was the narrow lane into the village and beyond if you wanted to go anywhere - but that's Devon!

What a lovely place, Spotlessly clean, and so well equipped.

It is true to say that in the 360 degree view of rolling hills, not a wind turbine, pylon or road can be seen. A perfect spot to appreciate nature and wind down from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Jean and co.

The Bothy is a great property for a couple.

We have stayed there three times and will probably go back again. We would however prefer a different changeover day. Fridays are very busy on the M5 and M6 motorways and long delays are normal on Friday afternoons. Any other day of the week would work better! We find the slow broadband a nuisance at this property too (especially as there is no mobile phone signal) but appreciate there may be nothing the owners can do about it at the moment.

If you're looking for peace and tranquility on your holidays, look no further.

The Bothy is surrounded by rolling Devon hills (and sheep). In the evenings there were no lights from other properties to be seen in a 360 degree circle. Maybe too isolated for some people but we loved it! And bear in mind that, although you can walk into Slapton village, it is a very steep walk back. South Devon is all about those hills! The property was spotlessly clean, and the owners liaised with us by text re. our choice of time for them to come in to clean and change bedding at the end of our first week. We have already booked again for next year, but will be taking far less with us next time as the property is so well equipped. All in all a great holiday.

Stunning views and great location! We really appreciated the log burner after a day out, very homely. It was a nice touch to find milk, bread and biscuits on our arrival, Very well equipped, couldn’t ask for more!

We stayed at The Bothy for a week and had a really special holiday.

The setting was idyllic and in a really good location for exploring all the villages around Start Bay. The accommodation was absolutely wonderful and ideally sized for 4 people. We were very impressed with the quality of everything in the property particularly the appliances and bedding. We would love to go back!

Stayed at the Bothy for a week in early march and loved every minute, even though the weather was hit and miss we still managed to walk along Slapton sands and down to Blackpool sands.

The cottage its self was fantastic and had everything we needed. and was in a very peaceful and relaxing position. Slapton also had two good pubs that do excellent meals and a small shop that had most things you may need. All in all a fantastic week and we will definately return. Loved it!

What a wonderful place!

Spent 5 days in this fantastic little 'bothy' for a little break in November. Stunning location and complete peace and quiet. Great little getaway from everyday life! The place itself is really well laid out, modern and well equipped. Very cosy and warm in the evenings with the log stove! Very comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. Will definitely book again in the future.

The Bothy is wonderful place to stay, secluded and nestled into the side of a hill with great views.

So many small details add up to make the cottage warm, cosy and very comfortable. Very weather-proof ( we had bright,clear and cold weather) and cleverly designed to maximise light, we loved our stay there and are going to return. We hope to have warmer weather next time so we can take advantage of the outdoor seating/eating areas too.

The Bothy is a fantastic cottage very tastefully refurbished with a modern interior. The views from the decking and the cottage are amazing. If like me you like a clean modern place to stay where you don't see a single soul from your cottage the whole week then this cottage is for you. You are surrounded by sheep in the adjacent fields and we particularly loved the friendly Alpaca. Yes, the wifi is slow, but who cares? If you have come on holiday to stare at your phone or tablet all week instead of the countryside, you may as well stay at home..

THE BOTHY IS AMAZING! It's a joke among people I know that I have the most ridiculous standards for holiday homes - I usually look at about 500 (only a slight exaggeration!) before I find one I like. The Bothy is both beautifully modern and full of character - the views are stunning and the outside area is lovely. There's a firepit, beautiful sun loungers and a table and chairs. Beds very comfy, kitchen wonderful including more than the standard 4 coffee pods! We had a wonderful stay, the area is beautiful and the price was fantastic. Only slight thing to mention was that the internet isn't fast enough to stream TV, which is to be expected but we thought it maybe as advertised as smart TV. Thanks for a fab stay in Devon.

A terrific property - clean/comfortable/well stocked with a few lovely little unexpected touches for self caterers/amazingly quite with views to die for/surrounded by sheep giving birth to very late lambkins. We were told the Ram jumped the hedge for a second round! It was lovely, hilarious and a joy to see the lambs gambling around! Wholeheartedly recommend you go stay and see for yourself
