Lower Southbrook Farm Cottages

Offering quality holiday accommodation in the beautiful East Devon countryside there are two semi-detached comfortable single storey cottages each named after the local villages of Whimple and Broadclyst. Each of the cottages sleep up to four guests and are next to the friendly owners farmhouse. The properties also benefit from shared use of the outdoor heated swimming pool which is open every day from May to September (weather permitting). Also onsite is an outside area for children to play, making these ideal destinations for small families or couples alike. The rural location makes a tranquil retreat or ideal base from which to explore the fascinating area. The nearby village of Whimple offers a choice of pubs, a village shop and a post office. There is even a railway station on the Waterloo line making exploring the historic city of Exeter without a car very simple. The city is famous for its magnificent cathedral, unique network of underground passages, and historic quay. Ottery St Mary is just 7 miles to the East of the cottages and is one of the oldest towns in Devon and offers a variety of shops and cafes. Nestled in the valley of the river Otter the rolling hills of Devon unfold in every direction. Just a few miles to the south are the beautiful beaches of the Jurassic coast with Regency seaside towns such as Exmouth and Sidmouth to explore. The pebble beach of Budleigh Salterton or along to to the Dorset border and Lyme Regis where fossils are often found.

The property

In rolling Devon countryside, almost equidistant from the historic town of Ottery St Mary in the east and cathedral city of Exeter to the west, is Broadclyst Cottage, one of two single-storey semi-detached cottages that sit next to the owner's farmhouse and share the use of the outdoor heated swimming pool (May to end of September) and children’s play area.

All one level, Broadclyst Cottage is an excellent countryside base; inside is a compact kitchen area and good-sized dining/sitting room complete with TV/DVD and patio doors, leading to a small private lawned garden and patio with furniture.

You can cosy up and relax in the sitting room before heading to one of the two bedrooms; one with king-size double bed (zip/link, can be made into a twin) and a vanity unit, the other a bunk bedroom, ideal for children.

Broadclyst Cottage is a convenient base for a holiday with much to occupy on site and in the surrounding area.

The nearest village and pub at Rockbeare is less than a mile away, while a greater selection of shops and pubs can be found in Whimple, approximately three miles away.

Note: this property also be booked with Ref. 1038288, together sleeping 8 people.
