A beautiful home from home!

We've stayed in a few different cottages and this was easily the best. Comfortable, clean and cosy! The cottage is in a wonderful location for exploring Dartmoor or just relaxing and listening/watching the birds and farm animals. We were made to few welcome from the second we arrived. Our only disappointment is that we didn't discover Shilstone Lodge years ago!

We had a fantastic stay at Shilstone Lidge.

As soon as you step through the door, you get the wow factor. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, most comfortable holiday cottages in have had the pleasure of staying in. The area which is located is so quiet and peaceful. Welcome pack which jill and John provided was really nice, I fact I don't think I have had a better cream tea. I really hope we get the chance to return.

The cottage was very nice and cosy with everything we could want. The beds were very comfortable too and we appreciated the extra touches like vases of flowers and a lovely cream tea on arrival. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming too.

It is beautifully decorated with everything you need. Having the woods on the doorstep was great for our dog. We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful, cosy cottage.

We enjoyed our stay very much, relaxed and just what the doctor ordered to refuel our batteries. Very clean and well equipped, comfortable and very much like home from home.

Lovely cottage, great owners and situated inside Dartmoor national park but not too far from A30, beautiful Devon and Cornwall can be explored from here. We had a superb stay and would definitely recommend this cottage!

We would happily return. Shilstone Lodge is finished to a high standard, very clean and in a good, quiet, leafy farm setting. Lovely to find a cream tea, flowers, wine and a warm welcome on arrival. Good days out, pub lunches and walks locally. Highly recommended.

Loved our stay at Shilstone Lodge, the lodge was very clean and had every thing you would need.

There were fresh flowers and more important scones, cream and jam, the scones were the best I've every tasted. It was great to find out a little about farming from John and Jill. Hopefully will be able to get back there soon.

Shilstone Lodge was perfect, could not be faulted in any way.

Very friendly owners and so many generous welcome touches. Cream tea, Prosecco, flowers in the rooms. We enjoyed some wonderful walks in good weather and are hoping to return soon.

A lovely property.

Spacious rooms and comfortable, particularly the bed and well equipped with everything one might need. Some nice unexpected finishing touches. Flowers in the rooms, a cream tea on arrival plus treats for our dog and water and feeding bowls in the hallway. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. We can't recommend this property highly enough. We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages over the years and this is at the top of the list.

Shilstone lodge was absolutely fantastic, we loved every minute.

The lodge was exceptionally clean with everything you need for a relaxing time away. John & Jill had even left new shower gels in each shower, freshly made scones, cream & jam and also Prosecco for our arrival which was very much welcomed. There was a beautiful bunch of lilies & roses left in the living area and freshly cut roses in each of the bedrooms. Tea, coffee & sugar were also left. The location was very peaceful in a farm yard sounding way

The property was lovely and the owners supplied us with a Christmas tree, decorations, a bottle of Prosecco, cakes and lots of other little extras which were gratefully received. We had a very comfortable stay with everything we needed plus more. Would come again.

Everything was great except for the microwave which is too high up to place food in safely.

This is fabulous accommodation.

Everything about it is just right. It is set in beautiful woodlands overlooking a historic lake and with views across the fields to the moor. It is a recent conversion and all is new and spotless and of high quality. There are lots of nice little touches too, like the fresh cut flowers. So thank you Jill and John for a lovely stay.

Quiet, lots of bird life, and loved the close proximity to Chagford. Would love to return.

We loved our stay here.

The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Jill and John did everything they could to make us feel at home including a welcoming cream tea on our arrival plus fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. The views were magnificent from the kitchen but sadly they weren’t able to influence the weather which was very wet!!

A high spec lodge tucked away on the edge of Dartmoor.

The owners were amazing and how well equipped it was. Clean, tidy and great amenities. A perfect home from home. Perfect local area for exploring and an even better base for the surrounding. Would highly recommend and certainly stay again

It's not often anything truly exceeds expectations but, wow, this place did just that.

From the homemade 'welcome' cream tea, fresh flowers, tea/coffee/milk supplies to the hospitality shown by the owners (Jill & John). We would absolutely recommend and would not hesitate in booking with Sykes again.

If you go walking on the hills be aware that there are Adders in the bracken and ferns and sometimes sunbathing on the boulders (!

) If you are worried about driving on twisty narrow roads and about scratching your car when your mirrors are in the hedges down the narrow lanes this is not the area of Devon for you We forgot to fill out the visitors' book but we would give a glowing report.

The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay, was well thought out down to the dog treats and bowls for your furry friend. The surrounding area was so tranquil and relaxing a hidden gem. Our 4yr old little boy absolutely loved been surrounded by all the animals on the farm , would highly recommend a stay.

There is plenty to do locally around Chagford, and the location is a good base from which to explore south Devon.

We found the property very well equipped and extremely comfortable.

The views over the surrounding countryside were splendid. We hope to return towards the end of the year.

We highly recommend Shilston Lodge the owner has taken great care to lovingly decorate and carefully consider what is required to ensure you have a relaxing, comfy, stress free break!

The warm welcome of homemade scones, milk in the fridge and a little something for the dog was enough to make us feel at home for the week. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality utensils, we could have easily made a roast if we wished. Beds were comfy with soft clean linen, and towels nice and fluffy. Good hot showers too! The property was spotless with plenty of handwash/antibac. The location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area, and getting out onto the moors. We had a truly wonderful break in one of the best cottages we have stayed to date! Thank you.

What a well appointed cottage, everything that was advertises and more, including a dishwasher!

Very happy with the accommodation. A few problems with the Wi-Fi, but the cottage owners works so hard to sort it out, and it as all sorted as soon a possible. Very clean, and gave a safe feeling, with all that is going on at this time. thank you to them for our stay.
