  • "Overall cleanliness was disappointing, dirty skirting boards throughout, dead bugs on back of sofa, no toilet roll on arrival, no cleaning supplies or bin bags,left message with Inspire housekeeping to discuss but never received a call."

    positives nice quiet location lovely hot tub. Having used Sykes Cottages for 8 years felt was a little below standards for the price

    Thanks for your comments but we are very disappointed at your comments on the cleaning and the lack of response from our management company Inspire. We will take these points up with them at our next review but to be fair they are normally brilliant at both the cleaning and responding to any problems.   • "The property was lovely and as described however where it had been vacant presumably beforehand there was a buildup of mould on the draining board."

    There were no towels for the hot tub as advertised and there were slight issues where I felt the clean had not been as deep as perhaps it should be as considerable buildup of dust and the rug in the lounge needed hoovering but the facilities themselves were lovely and the hot tub was sparkling clean even with all the trees that are above it and I would return but to a slightly bigger villa.

  • "A lovely little cottage overlooking the estuary."

    Clean and comfortable for 2 adults and a puppy! The hot tub was great! Kitchen had everything you needed and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. We had to call housekeeping as there was no hot tub towels but they were delivered within a few hours with no fuss. My only niggle was the fact that both the front and back patios were covered in bird poo which I tried to clean off but it was glued on! However, this didn’t spoil our stay.

  • "Wonderful stay - very well appointed accommodation - felt a warm welcome from the beginning."

    Lovely garden - grounds to walk a dog. The location is spectacular and as such low mobile phone signal on any network - internet is flaky but that open reach sky for you. Looking forward returning next year.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Tarka View, great location for exploring the north Devon coast, the cottage is in a gated secure grounds overlooking the Bideford area."

    Great for our dogs as well with a fence securing the gardens. Everything was provided for in terms of equipment and facilities with good WiFi speeds. Lots of shops/takeaways nearby. Only slight negatives were that the oven grill tray had not been cleaned from the previous guests so we did that and a mop for the laminate floor would have been useful especially with having dogs.

  • "Perfect. A gem of a find."

    2 person, 2 dog, close enough to Bideford to walk in. Own enclosed garden, no need to do an early morning pyjama wee walk with the dogs. Not the biggest cottage but definitely had everything we needed but would have loved a TV in the bedroom.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tarka View."

    Great bed, great hot tub, bottle of fizz waiting for us on arrival and plenty of room for the 2 of us. Maybe you could look at the door catches on the front door and bathroom door as they blow open in the wind but other than that, we have no complaints at all.

  • "What a great little place this is."

    The owners made us feel very welcome on arrival, and there was even a nice little welcome pack of prosecco and nibbles which was a nice touch. The place was small but very cosy for two.The hottub was fantastic and private especially after a day out exploring the local area. Overall a great little place with lovely veiws would totally recommend

  • "What a great find."

    . .everything we needed for our five day get away....from the lovely welcome pack, hit tub to the secret beautiful big hidden garden....good quality furnishings and products. Only thing that ket it down was lots of spider webs inside and attention to detail cleaning behind and under stuff but with an easy thorough spring clean would of been top top

    Set in grounds with other rentals, but plenty of space between, and private. Lovely view from the hot tub. Adequate amenities with a fab welcome pack! Would recommend and would return.

  • "The Holiday day home was clean and comfortable with everything you need for two."

    The area is outstanding lovely walks just from the doorstep definitely would be returning. A small negative would be that we need bigger signage to say that the hot tub needs topping up after every use there is a small sign on the side of the hot tub probably needs to have a bigger sign on the wall or even on the French windows totally enjoyed our day and will be returning.

    Windows not been cleaned for some time. Shower mat old and dirty. Light over cooker not working. Bed not comfortable mattress was far too soft/old. Location good with good private parking. Would not return.

  • "No cleaning products, no toilet cleaner, no tea towel or not one you could use ,the hoover was completely blocked, no cleaner for kitchen , no cleaner for bathroom."

    As there was a good house keeping charge for this property they could at least supply cleaning materials

  • "This was a beautiful property in fabulous surroundings and the hot tub was the icing on the cake."

    Any issues were dealt with very well by the owner Sue. I went alone and felt very safe due to the gated entrance, but equally despite the other properties on site being occupied it felt very private. My dogs loved it!
