Beautiful spot and view Comfortable beds Great faculties Beautiful curtains, blinds and pieces of quirky art A couple of lamps would be so nice, less back lighting at twilight Just a magical place to stay The drive in and out was flooded easily but all in all not a bother since I didn’t want to leave the area, walking everywhere was wonderful

I am so pleased you enjoyed your visit and found the spot as charming as we do. The suggestion of lamps is a good one which we will follow up. I hope you choose to stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "This is a high-end property with a high level of comfort and high-quality fittings and equipment."

The owners have provided everything needed for a very comfortable holiday. As experienced holiday home users, we found it more than met our expectations. The apartment is very well designed and with exellent soundprrofing (we never heard any noise from the neighbours to the side or above). The beds, a crucial element to a restful holiday, are sumptous and very comfortable. Since it is a self-catering holiday, we would not expect to find things like dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid etc. - we always take those. One thing the owners might like to consider at some point is replacing the crockery as there a two mugs with chips and cracks, and a place with a sharp chip. This was our second visit. We would happily recommend it to anyone.

  • "Lovely property, very clean and comfortable."

Well equipped with everything we needed for 5 people. Great to be able to use the pool, straight from the apartment. 5 minute walk to the beach was perfect. Minor point was we had to drive to shops to buy more dishwasher tablets, in order to be able to use the dishwasher once each day. We felt that providing one per day would be reasonable, or state that this is something that isn't provided.

  • "Getting to that location through long single lane roads with very few passing spaces for miles is a nightmare specially when we got stuck with a number of cars in both directions several times."

There was no fan in the apartment we were dying in the heat in July. The flat above us they had ceiling fans but we had nothing. One of the patio doors did not open at all - the handles for the windows and patio doors were very hard to open and close. They need renovation/replacing. Only 3 dishwasher tablets for 6 people for a week was not enough given we were in the middle of somewhere with very difficult road access to shops. Or at least provide more mugs. On arrival one of the bathrooms had no working light - the light pull cord was gone. Why do the bathrooms have pull cords rather than a normal switch. So with 6 of us in the flat from Saturday we were not able to use one of the bathrooms until it was fixed on Tuesday after chasing it to be fixed asap. Lovely swimming pool and nice beach and loved the fact we could just go from our patio area to the swimming pool….but would not stay here again. We were all traumatised by the route to get in and out of this place. Not worth it.

Kettle was leaking Bath plug leaks water quite a lot so bath kept needing to be re-filled. Kitchen window didn't open. Heated swimming pool temperature seemed very low and barely heated.

  • "Possibly the nicest property we have stayed in - very clean and very comfortable."

The provision of biscuits, tea, and coffee capsules was a nice touch - especially after such a long drive. The only thing missing was the sea view, as whilst the apartments are on the coast being ground floor this particular apartment does not have one. In summary - excellent.

However, we will be looking to return and get full use of the swimming pool, as well as the local beach. The accomodation was excellent, everything you thought you might need was there. Spacious and spotlessly clean.

  • "This is our third year in the property and we had a lovey stay once again."

Our only challenge this year was the pool was not maintained as well as previous years - the water was yellow and by the end of the week even the kids didn’t want to get in. I am not sure if there is an issue with the filter or if no one was available to clean, but it wasn’t particularly pleasant. Happy to send pictures to show what I am referencing.

  • "Have stayed at 2 Ocean Edge four times, it is a lovely apartment in a lovely location, however we feel that the apartment is now getting a bit tired, door handles and shower brackets loose, batteries not working in remote and weighing scales."

The first time we stayed the poor WiFi speed was not an issue, but we now find it frustrating as Wi-Fi access is now needed for so many activities. We also had a problem with a lack of hot water but we were so pleased with how promptly this was resolved by Sykes staff.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know you feedback. We are also so pleased that you like our apartment and have returned several times. The broadband was upgraded to Full Fibre on 31st July 2023 and so you should find the speed and capacity considerably improved if you choose to visit again. Property Owner

  • "Great stay."

The apartment is modern, comfortable and well equipped. The pool wasn't open when we were there. Nice views of the sea and very close to the beach, and a short walk to Hope Cove. Note the building might be tricky to access with bigger cars (some roads are rather narrow).

Had to request additional pans only had two to start. Could do with redecorating looking tired now. Not what we expect for 4 star.

Be prepared with having to navigate single track roads to and from the main road every day if you are wanting to shop or sightsee. Only complaint cooker needs updating and not working properly. Very temperamental. On our last night we had a party of youngsters above us who were very rowdy and up drinking until early hours of the morning. Good job it was our last night !! Great holiday though and would return to the area again.

  • "We had a great stay at 2 Oceans Edge."

The apartment was spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable and we really loved the location. Only a couple of niggles - the shower head in the twin room en suite would not stay in place in the holder - the pressure of the water forced the shower head up so that it sprayed over the top of the shower door, drenching the entire bathroom (including the ceiling) and the towels. There was evidence that this may be a regular occurence i.e. flaking paint on the ceiling. I'm sure a simple adjustment would correct this. Also the towel rail in the twin en suite was very rusty in places, which sort of let the place down a bit.

We took my mum who is almost 92 for a break and it was perfect. No steps up to the front door and all on one level inside. The beds and furnishings were very comfortable and everywhere was very clean. Having 2 shower rooms and a bathroom was ideal for social distancing when our 2 sons and daughter in law came for meals a couple of times. At these times we could have done with more serving/ oven dishes and were pleased that we'd taken our own large cooking pot as the saucepans provided were a bit small. We had a very enjoyable week here.

Also near the beach and the south west coast path. Lovely to have the cafe/restaurant facilities on the beach and alternatives in nearby villages that weren’t far to walk. The only downside was the approach roads/tracks to the property which were extremely narrow with few passing places.

  • "It’s the second year we’ve stayed here and we love this property."

It is in a fantastic location and having a pool available for the kids to use is brilliant. We would look to book again. Unfortunately there were a few things which disappointed us. Nothing major, but when this property commands the high price it does, it’s the nigly little things that you just want working correctly in a holiday home. The dishwasher broke a few days into our holiday and wasn’t fixed. It was two weeks before they could get an engineer. In a COVID summer where there wasn’t much eating out, constantly washing dishes really did feel like a constant chore with our big family. The fridge didn’t work very well and the spring on the gate latch out to the pool was broken so wasn’t toddler proof, so we had to buy a bungee to tie it shut with each time we went through it. The last two things we pointed out last year, so it was a shame this wasn’t rectified. All being said though, our family had a wonderful time and we would book again in the future.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at 2 Ocean’s Edge; we’re so glad that you enjoyed your stay. I believe the dishwasher broke 6 days into your stay and as I’m sure you can appreciate; the local engineers are working on a big backlog and weren’t able to visit during your stay. With the owner’s authorisation, we took the option to replace the dishwasher, but unfortunately this wasn’t able to be delivered and installed during your stay. I’m so sorry to hear that you had issues with the fridge and the pool gate latch, it’s a shame that we weren’t made aware of these as we certainly would have been able to look into these matters for you. Since your departure, the fridge has been checked and no problems were found with it. I believe that whilst the spring has broken on the latch, it is still usable and the gate can still be secured – this has since been passed on to the block management. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back to the area again soon. Property Owner

  • "We loved this holiday apartment and will be booking again next year."

It was a great set up and we loved the location. We appreciated the swift visit by maintenance to fix a couple of issues we had. The clean on arrival was poor, I had to clean out the fridge and freezer as it had sticky food remnants in it. I also had to clean the grill pan before I used it as that hadn’t been cleaned. Floor wasn’t cleaned properly, still lots of dust and grime (we will have noticed this more as we have a 1yr old crawler) The mid week clean which we requested was appreciated and done very well and considerately around our sleeping baby. We were disappointed with the issues with the pool. Pool cover didn’t work for first week of stay so was freezing cold. Second week due to lack of chlorine, the pool turned green and then needed treatment. We hope that next year there will be better maintenance in place so that the pool can be used and enjoyed for our whole stay. A few improvements would help bring the property up to a high standard. - outside furniture was rusting so when we sat on it with our clothes then became rust stained. Once we realised this we sat in towels, but wasn’t ideal. - the gate into the pool area needs fixing to make it secure for small children. - door handle in double bedroom needs some maintenance to replace spring and stop door from sticking so the room can be entered and exited quietly. We noticed this particularly as our 1yr old slept in there. - shower head in twin en-suite needs tightening. When shower was in full power, the head of shower shot up and sprayed over top of shower door and got bathroom wet. - fridge didn’t cool consistently, froze at back but didn’t chill things at front. This was despite making sure it wasn’t overloaded. I hope this feedback is helpful, we did have a wonderful holiday and look forward to coming back next year. Regards, Becky
