  • "A fantastic property in Thurlestone."

We have rated many holiday homes over the years in the South Hams area and love it. This house is in the top 2! The views are amazing, bedrooms large and beds and pillows super comfy. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets and an enclosed garden for dogs. Will definitely be back...

  • "A very nice property which we enjoyed staying at BUT."

.. Due to unforeseen circumstances (our dog snapped his ACL) we ended up having to take 3 dogs instead of 2. We were contacted after a couple of days by Sykes to ask for payment for the 3rd dog (which is only right) However the only way they could discover this was if they were monitoring the CCTV. (video and sound?) The thought of this spoiled the holiday for all of us as we didn't like the idea of being spied on. For this reason alone, we would not return.

All cameras are turned off when the house is occupied. Sometimes on a Friday we check the doorbell camera to make sure the cleaners have been and gone and that the rubbish has been collected. As failed rubbish collections had caused issues for guests in the past. Sorry you feel you were being spied on as that is not the case. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property, very well appointed and fitted out."

Poor cleanliness due to superficial cleaning only which had followed a stay where 2 dogs had stayed in the week before . Hair on all soft furnishings including bedrooms. Outside balcony had a lot of hair in corners and crevices We did contact you following an allergic reaction to dog hair for one of the party. Following this additional cleaning was provided. Disappointing that given you knew pets had begun present a higher level of cleaning had not been provided. We spent time cleaning the property ourselves only to discover the vacuum cleaners were totally bunged up! That was another job that we did in our holiday time. The other issue we had was a stair gate not fitted properly again resolved but how did the person who fitted it not know that it was not connected properly? We did not let this spoil our holiday but it could all have been avoided. Puzzled as to why you charge extra for pets then not deep clean the property?? Or charge the owners fir leaving the mess behind ?? My daughter has never had a reaction to pet hair before she can have a reaction to dust, so luckily had creams with her and antihistamines otherwise we would’ve had to seek to medical help. Photographs of her skin were sent to you to show the severe reaction as you will have seen that would’ve been very uncomfortable for her. Happy to speak to you about our experience.

We are so sorry for your experience. We have spoken to our property manager. They have advised that they immediately visited on Saturday to adjust the stair gate, and at that point there was no mention of dog hair. When you messaged on Sunday, they came out on Monday and hoovered, polished and cleaned all the main areas. You then texted to say how pleased you were with their prompt and considerate response. They clearly did everything they could to help you enjoy your holiday. We welcome pets and do try our very best to clean up after them, Property Owner

  • "Great house, spacious and well planned out and equipped."

We also loved the location being within 5 min drive of Batham, Thurlestone and South Milton beaches. The balcony of the kitchen and its view is fabulous. To be more versatile for families, it would work even better if the downstairs double bedroom was a zip link bed as this would create option of 2 twin rooms when needed. This didn’t detract from holiday though, and would be happy to return!

So glad you enjoyed your stay at Two Hoots . We feel the views are very special and love to hear they have also been enjoyed by others. Hope you will visit again soon. Property Owner

The narrow lanes leading to and from the property are a challenge, fortunately most people are polite and passing each other is possible because they are.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Two Hoots hopefully you’ll visit again soon. Property Owner

Very spacious with all the amenities you could wish for. The view is stunning. On the one occasion we had run out of gas for the bbq, the support company went out of their way to ensure a new cylinder was fitted. Would highly recommend staying here.

The TV facilities are good but were frustrating to use at times (e.g. volume buttons don't function), and there may be a need for additional info in the folder. Finally, it would have been nice if the grass had been cut before we arrived.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Two Hoots."

It certainly exceeded our expectations, from the front it just looked like a small house, but wow once you were inside it was enormous, a wonderful sea view, open well planned kitchen, dining and very comfortable sitting areas. Excellent sized bedrooms and well planned bathrooms. We were a mixed age party from 2 years old to 82 and one small dog and we all enjoyed the house and facilities. Having such a nice property to stay in made the poor weather more bearable. We would like to return, preferably in the sun so we could enjoy the lovely outside sofas and BBQ.!

  • "Already logged incidents with Salcombe office - namely CCTV cameras, house cleanliness and lack of maintenance of garden given supposed ‘dog-friendliness’."

We feel the owners have focussed more on giving guests gadgets but for the price we paid, we expected those standard touches to not be neglected as a result.

  • "Really enjoyed the holiday at two hoots, it’s a really lovely property."

We’ll definitely be booking to go back. The one criticism we all had was the cameras at the property, 2 at the front and one at the back, if this becomes common, i’d like to see these being mentioned in the property descriptions, no one likes to feel like they are being watched. I’d still give the property 10 out of 10 though. Sykes emails and service was excellent, all ran smoothly.

Thank you so much for letting us know that you enjoyed your stay at Two Hoots. We have discussed your comments regarding the cameras with the owners of the property, and can assure you that the front camera is the only one in use, and will only be operational when the property is empty going forward. We look forward to welcoming you back to Devon soon. Property Owner
