  • "A splendid, well-equipped cottage in a great location."

    Only downside is a user-hostile EV charger: using the PIN is a serious challenge; there is copious information about every appliance bar the charger - a bothersome omission, especially as I could not find any online information about PIN input.

  • "We've stayed in lots of Sykes rentals over the last 20 years and this was one of the best."

    Aug. 2026 it was very clean and very well presented. It felt that we might be the first guests after a refurb even though that was not the case. Foamy mattresses soft and comfortable. I take my own pillow. Excellent showers and bathroom. Well equipped kitchen though odd wine glasses. I know I'm nit picking. Lovely view over the village to the local church from the garden. I'd be happy to stay there again

  • "We absolutely loved Myrtle Cottage, it was immaculately clean and tidy, very well equipped,with every thing you would need in the kitchen,just like home from home, the lounge was very comfortable, and we loved sitting in the conservatory, as the view was stunning!"

    Toilet and shower downstairs, which was handy. Upstairs the bathroom had a fantastic walk in shower, and separate bath ,toilet and sink, all very modern and up to date. The garden front and back were very well maintained with plenty of seating area's. All in all it was a beautiful cottage and one of the best we've stayed in, and thank you for the generous welcome pack.

  • "Excellent cottage with superb facilities."

    It was not the time of year to use the garden seating but in Summer, that would be perfect. Location was also very good with easy access to all the towns and villages nearby. We found a gem of a haven at Seaton wetlands' if you like that sort of thing. The instructions for basic use of the EV charger could be useful as we were newbies but once cracked, it worked very well. Would highly recommend.

  • "Myrtle Cottage is a well equipped, comfortable house which makes a great base for exploring the area."

    Nearby bus routes provide a regular service and there are many walks including along the River Lim to Lyme Regis. The local garage makes an excellent stop for groceries! The EV charger was also a bonus for us.

    Very good welcome pack. We would have appreciated a welcome pack with information.ie how to contact owner. Info re doctor, dentist, taxis etc, which is usual in all other Sykes properties. We had a problem with fusing lights, but Sykes dealt with that promptly and efficiently.

  • "We enjoyed a 2 week stay here and didn't regret it."

    Lovely old cottage but very well equipped - in the hot weather we had it was great to have cold water and ice constantly available from the fridge/freezer in the kitchen. Lovely areas at front and rear of garden - only negative is traffic noise from Lyme Road which rear of garden overlooks but didn't stop enjoyment of resting and reading in rear garden. Useful shop/post office within easy walking distance of cottage. Talbot Arms across the road from the cottage wasn't worth a visit - Tried to book Sunday lunch on 2 occasions but first time was already booked and second time closed for family function. Doesn't do food on Mondays and Tuesdays only did take away fish and chips! Pilot Inn in Lyme Regis nice place and very friendly staff and Harbour Inn on sea front worth a visit. Lots of places to visit within easy reach of Uplyme including some National Trust and Lyme Regis beach really good. We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage.

You will see that many visitors have been very satisfied with their experience there and would recommend this pub. We cant do anything about the noise of the traffic but most people accept this is inevitable at busy times of the day.   • "Excellent cottage."

    Spotless and well stocked with cutlery and plates etc. It has everything you need and in a very good location. Very cosy when cold and lovely garden and sun room for warm days. The sun room was even heated for colder days. It also had a really nice view across the village from the back of the cottage. Nice and quiet.

  • "Lovely cottage."

    Very well equipped. Spotlessly clean. We appreciated having the Christmas tree and the welcome pack was great. With everything being of such a high spec thought it a shame that the bed sheets were too small for single beds. Difficult to make as if you tucked in one end there was not enough for the other end. I know this is minor but better quality or fitted sheets would be good. Definitely plan to visit again. Highly recommend.

  • "The cottage is beautiful."

    It has been renovated to a high standard and every comfort is provided for.All appliances are high quality and it is tastefully decorated and some original features have been retained.The gardens back and front are lovely spaces to relax.The only problem we had was that one of our party fell on the slippery floor in the bathroom after a shower so great care is needed,perhaps more bath mats could be provided.It is also very hilly in the area.

The property

Myrtle Cottage is a delightful two-bedroom stone cottage situated in the village of Uplyme, a delightful rural setting on the borders of Devon and Dorset.

An AONB, the village offers families the perfect location to enjoy the countryside with popular beaches, seaside towns, and the dramatic UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast close by.

With off-road parking, and sleeping up to four guests, this 200-year-old cottage is bursting with character and is ideal for those wishing to enjoy a relaxing break at any time of the year.

Originally part of the village forge, the cottage has been sympathetically extended over the years and is now a bright and welcoming cottage with a stylish interior and thoughtful touches throughout.

The sitting area is an inviting and relaxing space, with the original inglenook fireplace with an electric wood burner and bread oven giving a wonderful focal point in the room.

While the electric fan woodburning stove provides comfort and warmth for the cooler evenings.

The adjoining kitchen/diner is equipped with everything needed for a self-catered holiday and is a great space for creating meals that everyone can enjoy together around the dining table.

Bifold doors at the rear of the cottage lead to the decked terrace, providing the perfect spot for your morning cup of coffee, while enjoying views over Uplyme, the church, and the rolling Devon countryside and beyond.

Steps lead down to the enclosed garden which is a little haven to sit back and relax with a book, with patio seating areas with tables and chairs, inviting alfresco dining when the weather allows.

When it is time for bed, head upstairs to find the two bedrooms; a king-size bedroom and a twin, with the family bathroom also on this floor.

A second bathroom, a stylish shower room, is located on the ground floor.

The vibrant village of Uplyme is a wonderful location with a popular village pub, The Talbot Arms, which serves great home-cooked food and local beverages.

Additionally, there is a small convenience store, with a post office and petrol station, for your everyday essentials only a short stroll away.

You also have other local amenities, such as a tennis court, a children's play area, as well as a cricket club.

A delightful and picturesque riverside walk from Uplyme takes you into Lyme Regis, a spectacular seaside town with its family-friendly beaches, famous Cobb Harbour, and other popular visitor attractions, including the Marine Aquarium.

A regular local bus service also runs to and from Lyme Regis.

Popular days out include; the Heritage Coast Centre at Charmouth, a place to learn about the area's diverse geological history and pick up tips about fossil hunting on the shores.

The pretty fishing village of Beer is another great choice, with its limestone cliffs and beach, where it is easy to lose a few hours sitting in a deckchair watching the local fishermen hauling their catches ashore.
