The property
This cosy cottage is attached to an old chapel in the heart of Welcombe hamlet, 1½ miles from Welcombe Mouth.
Head down the steps to the porch into a hall where you can leave your boots and coats, and then through to the big country-style kitchen with its lovely traditional beams, Rayburn and dining area.
The sitting room is another cosy room where you can snuggle up beside the wood burning stove.
Head on up to your four bedrooms where you will sleep peacefully after exploring the lovely unspoiled scenery all around.
You have a sunny little bench to sit out and enjoy a morning coffee in your little enclosed garden.
There’s no need to cook at this cottage unless you want to, since the ancient thatched pub which serves up excellent food is just 100 yards from the door.
You may have worked up an appetite by walking down the valley to the cove – or you can just drive down and park by the beach.
If you are an experienced surfer this is a great beach to hone your skills, or just enjoy sitting quietly on the beach which is sheltered between picturesque high cliffs.
The South West Coast Path passes by, leading you to Hartland and dramatic views, as well as providing great bird watching opportunities.
With the good pub and an interesting beach so close, Chapel Cottage is a welcoming base for unwinding.
