Description
Saybrook Cottage is a charming period terrace, situated in the centre of Charmouth, that has been carefully renovated by its current owners to create a stylish and comfortable holiday home. Presented to a high standard throughout, it combines original character with modern touches, with colourful artwork adding a welcoming and personal feel.
On entering, you step into a bright open‑plan living space where parquet flooring and an oak staircase bring warmth and character. The sitting area offers a relaxed place to unwind, complete with a sofa and gas flame‑effect log burner, while the dining area provides a sociable space for meals. To the rear, the newly installed galley kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher, along with access out to the garden, and leads through to a useful utility area with washing machine and fridge/freezer. A cloakroom at the back of the property adds practicality. The first floor offers two bedrooms. The main bedroom features a king‑size bed and a feature fireplace, while the second is a compact double. The bathroom is particularly spacious, fitted with a freestanding bath, large walk‑in shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail, all finished in a contemporary style. On the second floor, an open‑plan bedroom with a single bed sits beneath the eaves, along with a small desk, ideal as a quiet area for reading, working, or planning the day ahead.
Outside, the pretty, cottage-style garden to the rear is an ideal spot to relax outdoors. A patio area with picnic bench and base for disposable BBQs is perfect for outdoor dining, with steps leading to a lawned section where views across the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed. The cottage is also pet-friendly, welcoming one well‑behaved dog. Although there is no allocated parking, on‑street parking can usually be found nearby.
With village shops, a bakery, eateries and two popular pubs just a short walk away, the cottage is ideally placed to enjoy Charmouth. The beach is within easy reach, along with the Heritage Coast Centre, perfect for fossil hunting, and access to the South West Coast Path. For a change of scenery, Lyme Regis is close by, offering its iconic Cobb harbour and a great selection of independent shops and places to eat.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage.
It has been beautifully renovated and everything works a dream. Garden is a perfect spot for relaxing and eating al fresco. It was also spotlessly clean. Definitely somewhere I would book again. The beach is a slow ten minute amble away, the pub much less! Only downsides were the parking (on a couple of days we had to park a way away) and my husband’s height, he kept ducking coming through the front door and catching his shoulder on the corner of a head height cupboard as he stepped up! Plus being terraced you could hear next door running up and down stairs and cupboards banging, only an issue for me as I would go and lie down in the afternoons. Probably the first cottage we have ever stayed in that I would like to come back to.
We travelled as a group of 4 adults and 1 child.
The cottage was perfect for us all and the welcome bag was a lovely surprise. The accommodation was well equipped and good to have a selection of games to play. Would happily recommend this property
A nicely presented modernised period terraced cottage, fully refurbished in 2026.
Everything is almost new. Comfortable beds, great bathroom and shower. A great pub with good food only 100 metres down the hill. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.
