Avocet is a beautifully reconfigured split-level apartment, thoughtfully updated for the 2026 season to offer a relaxed blend of character and comfort in one of Lyme Regis’ most sought-after settings. Positioned along Marine Parade, just moments from the beach and the historic Cobb Harbour, it provides an ideal base for a memorable seaside escape.
Arranged over two floors, the property has been designed to make the most of both space and setting. The first floor offers a comfortable lounge alongside a well-presented double bedroom with views across Marine Parade. An en-suite shower room serves this level, creating a restful and practical space to unwind after a day by the coast.
Upstairs, the open-plan kitchen and dining area forms the heart of the home. With exposed beams, feature skylights and a light, airy feel, it’s a sociable space for spending time together. A small balcony extends the living area, offering a pleasant spot to enjoy the fresh sea air. Also on this floor is a spacious king-size bedroom with zip/link beds (can be made up as a twin) along with a contemporary shower room and separate cloakroom.
Outside, the tiered garden is a real highlight. Arranged over several levels, with coastal planting and a mix of terraces and decked seating areas, it provides plenty of space to relax throughout the day. From here, there are far-reaching views across the beach, the town and along the Jurassic Coast — an ideal setting for morning coffee or a quiet drink in the evening.
Lyme Regis is a true gem of the Jurassic Coast, offering endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Wander along the historic Cobb Harbour, spend time on the sandy beach, or dive into water sports such as swimming and paddle boarding. The South West Coast Path runs through the town, giving walkers access to some of the most spectacular scenery in England. Fossil hunting is a must for families, and the town itself is alive with independent shops, galleries and excellent places to eat. For memorable days out, visit the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth or head to Abbotsbury to explore its renowned Subtropical Gardens and the unique Swannery.

We loved staying at Avocet, such a great location and unique property.
Being so close to the beach is wonderful! A few very minor points that would be nice to have amended in future: Clearer instructions for finding the car park (such as saying it is a private car park and giving the postcode/what 3words would be helpful), we struggled to find it (and we know Lyme quite well). Also, with this very hot summer - some lighter duvets would have been nice! We prefer to watch live TV - as this is a premium property, and not exactly cheap - it would be nice if that was available for guests.
We stayed in Avocet in June for 4 nights during the heatwave.
Firstly having access to a car parking space about 100m away was invaluable . The apartment is well furnished and comfortable and has the appliances and majority of utensils that you need (a fish slice would have been nice). We found the apartment cool on the first floor but very hot upstairs but were helped by asking for and being provided with a fan. Sleeping with the windows open was noisy due to nesting seagulls (we expected seagulls screeching) so that meant sleeping with the windows closed and as a result that made the bedroom very warm ( a top sheet would have been welcome) The outside decked patio areas are very comfortable with lovely views from the top but would benefit from an umbrella or shade of some sort. Location is superb being only 50m from the sandy end of the beach and the Cobb and a short walk along the promenade into town. Local restaurants such as Poco Pizza and Rockfish were excellent. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would recommend Avocet.
Our holiday was changed from Kittiwake to Avocet afew days before we were due to go due to refurbishment of the apartment.
Id just like to mention how great Sykes/Lyme bay holidays were at keeping me informed of the changes and giving me all the information I needed! The apartment was beautifully decorated with everything we needed, a fantastic sun terrace and balcony views over the rooftops to the sea and the town. We couldn't fault it, it was great! The only small thing was the entrance door,we found it quite difficult to open and close as the lock was not standard and the door did stick. I know its only a small thing but felt i should point it out. Apart from that our stay was really very good and the weather was fantastic! Thank you.
