The property

'Apple Cottage, it's a peach'.

This cottage sits quietly within a pretty courtyard in the heart of Whitchurch Canonicorum, offering an inviting bolt hole for couples craving a slower pace and a true Dorset escape.

Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming hideaway is all about switching off, unwinding properly, and enjoying the simple pleasures of countryside and coast.

Inside, the cottage feels light and full of character, with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams giving it a sense of history without sacrificing comfort.

The open-plan living space flows easily, with a well-equipped kitchen ready for relaxed breakfasts or unhurried evening meals, enjoyed together at the dining table.

The sitting area is ideal for putting your feet up after a day outdoors, whether you’re watching a favourite program or enjoying the warmth of the log burner as dusk settles in.

The king-size bedroom is thoughtfully arranged for restful nights, complemented by an en-suite bathroom with both a bath and shower, perfect for easing tired muscles after a long walk.

Step outside and you’ll find your own enclosed courtyard, a sheltered spot for morning coffee or a quiet glass of wine later in the day.

Guests can also enjoy shared access to a heated indoor swimming pool, adding a touch of indulgence whatever the season.

A designated guest car park is available close by, making arrivals and day trips refreshingly easy.

The wider courtyard offers extra seating and a sociable feel, while parking is close at hand.

The village itself is a joy to explore on foot, with The Five Bells pub serving excellent homemade food just a five-minute walk from the cottage (booking recommeded).

Walkers are particularly well catered for, with a network of local footpaths leading directly from the cottage, as well as the South West Coast Path and scenic routes around Lambert’s Castle and Golden Cap easily reached by car.

The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site lies around two miles away, placing the fossil-rich shores of Charmouth and Lyme Regis within easy reach for coastal days out.

Walkers will love the trails around Golden Cap, while Bridport offers markets, independent shops and cafés well worth browsing.

Whether you’re chasing sea views, countryside rambles or simply a peaceful retreat, Apple Cottage delivers a relaxed, memorable stay in a truly special corner of Dorset.

WHITCHURCH CANONICORUM

Bridport 5.4 miles.

Referred to as the capital of the Marshwood Vale, Whitchurch Canonicorum is an attractive mix of farms and cottages. Whitchurch Canonicorum is where you can find the very ancient church of St. Candida and the Holy Cross. It is unique in being the only parish church in England to contain the remains of an ancient saint. There is a well nearby, also named after the Saint, which is also rumoured to have similar healing properties. The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns.
