  • "We chose Poppy Cottage for its convenient location and space."

It’s a lovely house and might be ideal for a couple of families, but the main accommodation description should be clearer: the twin room wouldn’t be suitable for children as it’s separate from the main sleeping area, the single would mean another child being disturbed when parents go to bed. We particularly wanted a second shower, but felt unable to use the ensuite shower as it showed visible wiring, the garden needed attention and there were only two outside seats, the WC ceiling was open to the conservatory - less than ideal - and the woodburner was in fact a gas fire which looked like a woodburner. The kitchen was sparsely equipped with precisely enough cutlery for 7 and no extras for subsequent meals or guests. There are not enough pans, no bread knife and lots of chipped crockery. There are significant maintenance issues: damp marks, peeling paint in the main shower and in other areas. Perhaps a floor plan would help future guests.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you found Poppy Cottage to be a lovely home in a convenient location! We’ve taken your comments on board and have updated our listings to ensure the property is described as accurately as possible. We're sorry to hear that the issue with the wires affected your use of the en-suite. Our property managers are scheduled to investigate this promptly. Regarding the outdoor seating, the owner is planning to add two additional chairs soon. As the courtyard is quite compact, they’ve been mindful not to overcrowd the space, but we understand how important comfort is and are working to strike the right balance. We’ve also updated the listing to better reflect the gas fire, and the owner will be replacing the chipped crockery to ensure everything is in good condition for future guests. Thanks again for your helpful insights, they really do help us improve the experience for everyone. Kind regards, Dream Cottages. Property Owner

  • "I think it's advertised for seven people, had we had our full quota, there wouldn't have been enough lounge seating."

There was only enough for four people at best. We were quite cold at times and couldn't seem to get the lounge radiators at a comfortable level?

  • "Absolutely loved our stay at Poppy Cottage."

A great space complete with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely touches such as a tray containing tea, coffee and biscuits and enough dishwasher tablets for our stay. The beds were super comfortable and the outside area is perfect and safe for dogs and is a lovely space to enjoy a coffee. Only downside was the advertised hair dryer was missing and I hadn't packed my own, and the washing machine door would not close.

  • "Great location, right in the heart of Beaminster but away from any road noise."

Large, comfortable rooms, plenty of space. Excellent beds and bedding. Kitchen well equipped. Had a problem with the heating but it was rectified the same day, well done Dream Cottages, excellent service. One of the things we all thought was very strange was the downstairs toilet being part of the conservatory with just a stud wall separating it. The wall only goes 3/4 of the way up so the top part is open to the conservatory. This is an odd set up and made it unusable for us as you could hear everything. It doesn’t seem very hygienic either! Beaminster is lovely, great shops and a couple of good pubs. There are walks from the doorstep of Poppy Cottage which is ideal. Beautiful countryside all around and within easy reach of places like Bridport, West Bay, Burton Bradstock and Lyme Regis.
