  • "Lovely house and beautiful views over the countryside."

Very clean, plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. Beds were very comfortable. Parking space a bonus although easier to park on road opposite house for loading/unloading. Great WiFi signal - also a bonus with a teenager. En-suite bedroom could benefit from a blackout blind but otherwise all perfect. Lovely welcome pack which was most appreciated. Very relaxing week.

Thank you so much for your very positive feedback. It is very much appreciated. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday in Charmouth. We intend to make blackout curtains/ blinds for the ensuite bedroom at the end of the season. We do hope you will return to Nutwood. Property Owner

  • "Really nice property spacious and well equipped."

It is the second time we stayed at the property and its location and views are really excellent and it provides a good base to travel around or relax in. A minor point would be the off street parking which whilst handy and good, would benefit from some maintenance as the car park itself which is predominantly gravel based had deteriorated a bit so it was tricky at times getting the car out. Overall a good property in a lovely place.

Thank you so much for your very positive feedback. We do not own the entrance/exit but only the parking space . We will contact the owner to make them aware that this needs attention. Thank you again for staying at Nutwood. Property Owner

  • "Positives: A beautiful house."

Spacious downstairs living/dining area. Well equipped kitchen, dishwasher a bonus! Garden was stunning with excellent seating area. Plenty of room for the 5 of us and great space for our 3 year old to move around. Wonderful views from the two back bedrooms over the hills and bonus that the very top room has a small view of the sea! Downstairs bathroom was good. Shops, fish and chip shop and beach all within close reach. Having a dedicated parking spot was very handy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Having a dvd player with dvds available was helpful for keeping our little one busy when we were tired from the day. Lots of information and helpful booklets/leaflets everywhere. Plenty of wardrobe space. Negatives: The beds in the two double bedrooms were really very small and not comfortable. The pillows were also quite lumpy, which I think is probably from over washing. The curtains were incredibly thin so the rooms were very bright very early. The two couples in the double rooms didn’t sleep well for the entire holiday. Things for people to consider: The house is on the main road into Charmouth and it is very busy. At night time, when buses and lorries go past these can be heard clearly and also make the upmost bedroom seem to ‘shake’. The house probably isn’t suitable for elderly people due to steps down into the kitchen, bathroom and grass/garden, as well as the steep and narrow steps up to the top bedroom. The ceiling height in the top bedroom is quite low so you have to duck in places. The walk down to the beach is easy but Charmouth is on a hill so the walk back, especially if you have little ones, is really arduous.

Thank you so much for your mainly very positive feedback. We will check the mattresses and pillows when we next visit the cottage which we do on a frequent basis . There is a blind in the front bedroom as well as curtains but we will check and put black out linings on as required. Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday home and great location."

It's a very quick drive or 10 minute walk to the beach. The house is lovely, very clean and was nice to stay in. The main bathroom is downstairs which was a slight pain with small children but didn't affect our stay at all. The garden and patio are lovely and great to eat in in the evenings or for the kids to play in.

Thank you so much for your very positive review. It is much appreciated. We love it too. Property Owner

  • "Very nice property."

Comfortable lounge and kitchen area. Good bathrooms both down and upstairs and comfortable beds. A very well modernised cottage with pretty good heating. And a good off the road parking facility very nearby. I would definitely recommend Nutwood Cottage.

Thank you so much for your positive comments. They are much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "Nutwood was a lovely house ."

It was tastefully furnished with a well stocked Kitchen. The welcome bag was much appreciated. We especially liked the Dorset Tea. Lovely garden which we’d loved to have used more but the rain was relentless at times. Only Three Negative points . No bathroom or toilet on the third floor. Parking wasn’t easy . I tight squeeze to get into parking space . Could have one with 2 spaces. As not always space available on the road. And it would have been preferable to recycle house rubbish.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cottage . Unfortunately due to the age of the cottage it has not been possible to put an ensuite on the top floor. We purchased the parking space some years ago to make it easier for guests as parking spaces on the road are often not available. It was the only space available at the time and none have been available since. The rubbish is collected in one container as this is in line with the local council policy as we are register as a business . It is sorted by the council at their depot and recyclable items extracted. Thank you so much for your feedback . We hope you return to Nutwood . Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely cottage and in a perfect location to spend a few days exploring the local area."

We found the cottage immaculately clean and tidy and very well equipped. Pretty garden to relax in and the parking space is a bonus. Given the very high quality of the fixtures and fittings and property overall, our only suggestion is to upgrade the pillows (bit lumpy), towels and bed linen to bring them up to the same standard.

So pleased you enjoyed the cottage, the garden and the local area. I have checked all the pillows and replaced any that I thought were lumpy. The towels and bed linen are supplied by Lyme Bay Holidays who are aware of your comments. Thank you for staying in Nutwood we hope you will return. Property Owner

  • "We had a super stay at Nutwood."

House was fabulous and in a brilliant location and we had the happiest few days away. We struggled with car park location on first night as the directions where not very clear and ended up detouring up the hill. and Some warning that this is an unmade car park wouldn’t go amiss, fortunately we were in a big car but had we taken our other car I’m not sure it would have cleared the ground / bump going down into parking otherwise we could not fault. Thank you!! We would love to come back!!

We left early as a result.

  • "Really nice property that is spacious and well laid out."

Very comfortable and perfect for a family holiday. The garden is also very picturesque and the patio is a nice bonus. The iron and board and kettle would benefit from an upgrade which would be the only negative. The large price increase for the same week next year is disappointing but Charmouth and Lyme are excellent places to stay and visit and the property was overall first rate.

  • "We found Nutwood Cottage v relaxing for a week's stay as a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 teenage boys."

Close to the quieter beaches, great location for fossil hunting! Fantastic educational guided walk from Charmouth Heritage Centre. Pop in the fossil shop a few doors away from Nutwood and meet Chris Moore, a passionate, humble & humourous man who discovered and excavated the ichthyosaur from BBC's Attenbourough and the Sea Dragon. Beautiful views from the cottage patio which provided another outdoor room for a bit of peace and quiet away from the group when needed as the front living room with tv was a very cosy and open plan with the dining and kitchen. It had a v pretty garden. Beds, mattresses were v comfortable, although personally I found my pillows a little lumpy. The ensuite shower room is v small so some may find it a struggle to get in and out. However, there is a spacious family bathroom downstairs. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking for 6 people. We, a couple, travelled easily by train from W London to Axminster. Then, bus to Charmouth via Lyme Regis . Whilst my sister's family travelled by car due to the allocated 1 parking space. Buses do stop running from Lyme Regis to Charmouth by about 7pm which means evening meals and returning will be by expensive via pre booked taxi. However, the fun and most enjoyable day events for the Life Boat Week more than made up for that.
