  • "Just got back from a 2 week stay, i didnt want to leave!"

The owners were so friendly and helpful. With the hot weather, she even went out to buy fans for each of the cottages which was so kind. Yes, there is traffic noise throughout the day and night, but personally i got used to it and it just became background noise. The cottage is situated in the perfect spot for exploring, less than 10 minutes from West Bay, and most other villages and towns within 30 minutes. Fully equipped cottage with everything i needed. As a lone traveller it was nice to know i wasnt in such a secluded place, with other cottages and the owners house nearby. Was a perfect stay for me and my 2 Chihuahua pups. And Ester and her family made me feel so welcome. Thankyou for such a lovely holiday.

Fab to meet you and your gorgeous boys. Thank you for choosing The Sty. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again. Best wishes Esther Property Owner

  • "Although it did say road noise was to be expected it was awful keeping us awake at night and unable to have the door open in the day."

The cottage is basic and in need of a lot of TLC especially windows that had gaps in the view through the kitchen window would of been lovely but for the fact that the double glazing was shot and steamed up. The heating came on when not needed and there was no way to put it on in the daytime if needed.

Being beside the A35 does mean road noise is unavoidable. I am so sorry it disturbed you on your holiday. The cottages are all having their woodwork refurbished and The Sty is booked in when it next becomes vacant and the carpenters are available. There is an electric fire in each cottage for warmth when needed. We live onsite and are willing and available to help, as offered in the welcome card. Property Owner

We had our daughter and son-in-law's golden retriever (Harley) with us and Esther made sure we all had a great time. The Sty is very comfortable and cosy and we had some lovely days out to the seaside and Harley thoroughly enjoyed Cogden beach.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Harley was gorgeous. Best wishes Esther Property Owner

  • "On arrival we received a beautiful welcome pack, which consisted of scones, cream , jam a bottle of cider, and a treat for our dog."

We thought this was so nice, also tea, coffe and milk, and after a long journey was much appreciated. The cottage is close to the road, but this isn’t an issue, and we were close to so many beautiful places. The welcome flowers were a nice thought, and so much information provided in the welcome pack. The only downfall for us , was the mattress, it was very uncomfortable, definitely would recommend a new one, it’s a shame to have to give a negative, but have to be honest. Thank you to Ester for your hospitality

Thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry about the mattress, we will get that changed. Esther Property Owner

It’s small but it’s cosy and has everything you need. We loved the artwork on the walls, prints created by Esther, our hostess, and the welcome pack. The view from the kitchen window is very nice. The listing is honest about the traffic noise from the nearby main road. It didn’t bother us at night though.

It was lovely to meet you. Thank you for the feedback, I hope Lyme Regis was wonderful. Best wishes Esther Property Owner

I took cleaning products and tea towels(as per the information given when we booked it) with me but that was all provided. Had a lovely welcome pack of scones clotted cream and a bottle of local cider and milk in the fridge, there was even a packet of treats for our dog and a welcome card, very nice touch. The only downside was we had a job finding it directions from Sykes Cottages were outdated but we got there in the end.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay here with us. Thank you for the feedback, I have checked our directions with Sykes and updated them so hope they are clearer for others visiting. Best wishes Esther Property Owner

About the location

BRIDPORT

Lyme Regis 10 miles; West Bay 2 miles.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles.
