The Bolthole

Lovely cottage in superb location next to the little river Lyme.

Had everything needed for a very comfortable week's holiday. Enjoyed the garden and outdoor seating to see and hear all the birds. Have knocked one point off maintenance only because we suffered a fault in bathroom plumbing on the last but one day causing us to be unable to use the toilet! To their credit Sykes immediately sent out a handyman with a plunger but he couldn't remedy as fault was a mystery. Spoilt the last day but hopefully it's been put right for the next holidaymakers.

We have stayed here before, and once again our stay here was brilliant.

Everything we could need is supplied and the garden is a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the birdsong. The location is just a short walk into Lyme Regis so was ideal.

Our visit here was perfect.

Everything we could possibly need was supplied, including a welcome pack and milk on arrival. A lovely extra touch was a decorated Christmas tree, which surprised and delighted us as we entered the property. Would highly recommend for a stay.

Quiet, comfortable and clean.

Has everything that you need for a relaxing break. Only a 5/10 minute walk from the centre of Lyme Regis. Parking can be an issue, but there is some free parking nearby, if you do your research!

It's hard to fault any aspects of the stay - we loved the hamper on arrival, the kids especially loved the cookies as we enjoyed the coffee and tea, as well as the milk which served us well the following morning! We would definitely return in years to come. Thank you!

The Bolthole was a lovely place to stay, a small but stylish house with its own little footbridge.

The beds were comfortable, the bathroom and shower lovely and the garden was great to sit out in , especially during a heatwave! It was so refreshing to walk up the footpath from town and away from the busyness of summer. Thank you, we'd definitely stay again.

The Bolthole was everything it promised. The location, the energy, the surroundings- just lovely. Myself and my son was welcomed by a neighbouring cat, Houdini! The river was so healing, and tranquil. Thank you (Big highlight- beds were dreamy)

Great location in quiet part of Lyme, we love walking down by the Lym to get into town.

Lovely house the only draw back was the kitchen, not really enough room for the table with four people round it to get in and out, also the dishwasher didn't;t open properly so very difficult to fill. Shame not to have put a full size in there. We did have a problem with the boiler which kept resetting, meaning the water kept going cold in the shower. The maintenance crew did come round to fix but it still went cold. Luckily it was our last day. The shower was very good through when it was hot! We would definitely come back as great for a family of four.

A comfortable quiet cottage close to the town.

A lovely little bungalow in a picturesque setting.

There was a small issue on arrival with the cleaning but this was dealt with very quickly and efficiently. Parking at the nearest car park was easy despite the uphill walk to get there! Would stay again.

On the whole, this is a charming little bungalow in a great location, ideal for exploring the town.

Reversing up the lane to drop off bags is tight but doable, but would recommend instead just dropping off at the top and walking down - it’s really only 30 seconds or so! There were a few minor maintenance issues, however. The spring on the dishwasher detergent door was broken so dishwasher tablets would not get released during the cycle. One side of the toaster did not work. The garden was a little overgrown, with a thorny rose bush and other plants hanging over the path to the front door. And the skylights could do with a clean inside - there were many cobwebs!

It was a lovely little bungalow with a great garden, however there were things I would have liked to have known before arriving.

The lane is VERY narrow, in the handbook inside the property it says its best to reverse down the lane, actually I think drop things at the top and walk them down - its not very far. The closest car park is Woodmead which doesn't come up as long stay but this summer (2023) was £35 for 3 days or £65 for a week. The other long stay car parks are £15 a day which was more then we'd expected but it took us a while to find Woodmead. It was a last minute booking and despite phoning the number provided this info was hard to come by, as we had limited time to research. It spoilt the first day or so with confusion and stress especially for my 83 year old mother. Otherwise it was delightful and the best equiped place we have ever stayed. The garden was perfect, private and sunny most of the day. Thank you very much for the goody bag we enjoyed it!

The Bolt Hole is a little gem tucked away across a personal footbridge across the river.

It’s very quiet, apart from the quacking of ducks. The accommodation, for us, was perfect. It lacked nothing, was very comfortable & had a small, sunny garden for outside relaxing. We would revisit.

A perfect 'Bolthole' indeed for a mother-daughter trip and one which we are already planning to revisit with friends next year.

Highly recommend a walk along the Lym River (upstream), Fossil hunting in Charmouth and eat at Millside for a treat. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We both just love Lyme and would definitely recommend. Charmouth beach and Jurassic Boat Trips for a sightseeing cruise from the cobb. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!

Great location and amazing weather. Our second visit has been even better than our first. The garden has been a heaven to enjoy the sunshine or seek shade. We've swimmed every day and we hope to return soon. Thank you!

Incredible location and an easy short walk to the beach or anywhere in the town.

Perfect space for all. Tv was perfect for the football and easy to use. Beds were impeccable for a good nights sleep. Bathroom incredible for after beach showers and living area had a warm cozy feel to it, altogether an amazing stay! Five Star location and would definitely return!

Loved the little bungalow, very pretty location.

Have stayed in Lyme many times but first time in this spot by the river. We loved listening to all the birds in the evening and the sound of the water.... very soothing. Weather rather clamp but we plan to return later this year so second time lucky!! Lyme Regis... we love you!!
