  • "The entrance really let's it down and the furniture in the living room could do with being replaced, but had every thing we needed for a great holiday."

Amazing views and binoculars nice touch. A fabulous holiday, would stay again!

  • "The overall flat was gorgeous, however the patio doors, outside tables and chairs were absolutely covered in sea gull poo and the first thing we had to do was get hot soapy water and clean all the patio furniture and windows, this was really dried on so it hadn't just happened."

I think the cleaners should pay attention to getting this clean before they leave., the downstairs lobby smells of wee at the bottom of the stairs and would really benefit from a carpet shampoo to remove the smell. Otherwise the flat was clean, tidy, well appointed and we loved it .

  • "This is a lovely beachside apartment set above the esplanade at Lyme Bay."

When the sun came out, it was glorious. The facilities were great and we had everything we needed - comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The living room is a little dated but the aspect is so good, and the room so comfy, you really wouldn't care. Sitting out on the balcony in the sun was a dream. Can't recommend this place enough. The only negative is that you have to pay to park to unload as you can't really stop on the road and the permit is for the carpark ten minutes up the hill. Not a massive deal to us. We loved it and would happily book again.

  • "We stayed at Watersmeet for a 2 night stay and was delighted with the location of the property and the cleanliness."

Only 1 very minor point - there was no cloth in the kitchen to wipe the sides which would have been useful. I do agree the en-suite shower rooms are small (very inventive use of space!) but there is shower over the bath for those wanted a little more space.

  • "WATERSMEET."

The property was well located, the view from the balcony was brilliant, furniture was comfortable and the whole place was clean and tidy. There was everything supplied that we needed. The only complaints we had were; 1. One of the ovens wasn't working, drawing a cross on the control knob with a marker pen should have been backed-up with a notice telling people it didn't work, though getting it fixed would be a better option, feeding a group of six with only one oven caused problems. 2. The 'Local Information' book needs to be kept up-dated. The cinema 'showing all the latest releases' burnt down before Covid, and the 'Children's Animal Farm' at Abbotsbury (which we visited) closed during Covid and has never re-opened. 3. The entrance-way and stairwell let the place down terribly. The smell of mould and damp and the accumulation of feathers and rubbish we had to step over to get in the door was off-putting to say the least. If mesh screens were fitted to the window frames to keep the pesky seagulls out, at least the windows could be opened when the cleaners are there. On the plus side, our grandchildren gave the spiders in the stairway names and said good morning every-time we went out. 4. Several of the bed-side lights and the standard lamp in the lounge, have either faulty connections or loose bulbs, they flickered on and off, this may seem a small point, but for people who like to read in bed, it became impossible to do so. On the whole, Lyme Regis was well worth the visit, with excellent restaurants and shops, brilliant 'chippie' and a great buzz within the town and waterfront. We would return.

We're pleased that you enjoyed the sea views and balcony. Apologies if the welcome folder material is outdated, we will retrieve it and revise. We would have happily attended to the issue with the oven not working, and will organise to investigate. As the apartment is in a residential building the entrance hall and stairwell is communal and the responsibility of the management company to maintain. They are aware of the issues and are looking to make changes. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "I've contacted the agents."

Stayed here on and off since 2008. All looking dated and tired. Mentioned on several occasions about main oven still not working and bed knobs come away when touched in red bedroom. Fire extinguisher out of date by some 10 years. Horrible large yellow stain on mattress in middle bedroom and as ever, a filthy entrance to the main building where rubbish bags are placed, which we ourselves washed with the broom provided this time. At long last the Yale lock to main door finally been fixed. All this is such a shame as position is outstanding. Need to say especially that the flat is extremely clean. Big bonus. We love coming with the family. These are such simple things to rectify. We always live in hope for our next visit. Here's hoping.

We did receive a separate email from yourselves outlining these issues, and our maintenance team have already attended and found the oven was just set on automatic. We have removed the fire extinguisher as there is a fire blanket in the kitchen. The owner is purchasing two new cushions for the bedroom. We have tried to attend to the mattress stain as best as possible. The entrance is communal and shared amongst the flats - the maintenance is the responsibility of the management company, and they do have plans to rectify the damp issue and redecorate. As a local agent in Lyme we are always happy to assist guests in residence with any issues, and encourage contact during their stay. We're pleased to hear how much you love Lyme and hope you had an enjoyable holiday. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "The apartment has stunning views and it’s right on the seafront."

It’s nicely decorated and furnished, with the kitchen greatly equipped. Lyme Bay holidays agents are slow to act, asked for another parking permit but never received a response. The apartment is over a restaurant downstairs with late loud music events going on until 12.30 in the night. The hallway and stairwell is very dirty and shabby. Lyme Bay holidays will ask you to clean the apartment to a nearly extend of the cleaners just coming in and vacuum. For £2500 definitely overpriced and not of a good value.

The property only has provision for one parking permit (as described in the marketing). Upon hearing of your complaint of loud music from the reastaurant below, we liaised with the manager who offered your party a complimentary meal by means of an apology. That evening they hosted a wedding. We do mention on the marketing that the apartment is above a restaurant with an external terrace, so there may be occasions when it is noisy due to events taking place. We hope that you enjoyed the views and seaside that are literally on the doorstep of the apartment. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

The apartment has fantastic views around Lyme Bay. The sofas and beds are very comfortable and the shower in the main bathroom is good. (Showers in en suites not tried). The front entrance and staircase could do with redecorating but is much tidier than previous visits. Great location for walking on the beach and close to shops, pubs and restaurants.

Unfortunately the holiday was spoiled by complaints of noise from people staying in the apartment below This was a holiday for my parents 60th wedding anniversary All in the party of four were over 50 plus The issue was dealt with when Lyme bay came down to check and confirmed the noise was not coming from our apartment but by then my parents were at the point they would not even put the tv on The apartment had cracking views and was comfortable Would recommend tidying up the entrance hall with a lick of paint and new carpet Used Lyme bay cottages several times and will definitely use again

  • "Lovely place with great views, the two en-suites are very small, if you were a large person, you could have a problem, getting in and out of the shower."

So the dimensions of the shower area should be shown. The lock on the communal door, needs to be fixed as it was difficult to open some times. The communal entrance area is not welcoming, it gives a very bad impression of the the property. So I would recommend and upgrade to this area. There is a £150 deposit, but there is no inventory to be able to do the check in and out. E.g there was only 4 red wine glasses (there were 6 of us) and one was already broken when we arrived. We these points addressed I am sure it will be great for future guests.

  • "Tatty communal entrance and stairs with difficult to operate door lock."

This apartment is all about the beautifully situated sea facing lounge area and balcony with stunning views. The two en suite areas are ridiculously small, and I'm not a particularly large person, it has the type of hand basin you would find in the smallest under stairs cloakroom. There is a large family bathroom but that's not the point. The apartment itself was very clean. We had lovely weather, we love and are regular visitors to Lyme, we loved the views from the apartment and therefore enjoyed our holiday but to do the same you will have to overlook the en suite. I didn't appreciate the threatening text in Sykes's email should I fail conform with instructions.

  • "This property has an amazing location and Lyme is lovely."

The property has plenty of space but is in total need of a bit of TLC throughout. The front door and communal entrance is shabby at best - the carpet and paintwork are in bad repair. The street entrance and immediately inside the front door is dirty and smells. Inside the property itself, the outdoor terrace has an uneven tarmac flooring (which gets very hot), with old furniture and cut wires. The bathroom sink had a plug that did not fit / work well. The ensuite shower rooms were very basic and need updating. The pictures in the hallway were not securely fixed. I had to call for bin bags to be delivered to the flat as there were no spares. The bed frames have parts that are not fixed (ornamental balls at the foot end). In the kitchen the hooks near the hob are old, broken and marked. The weekly fire alarm test went off at 7.50am. The glassware, cutlery and crockery is an eclectic mix, most are old. There are not enough plates, bowls or mugs for a property accommodating this number of people. On our arrival I put some items in the freezer, it became clear within 30 mins that the freezer had been turned off before we got there and it was beginning to defrost - this is not good. All of the appliances were turned off at the socket and messages about turning things off were unwelcoming. It would be good to have some recycling facilities at the property. This could be a really solid holiday let, but needs some maintenance and investment to get there.

Bit disappointed with the cleaning this time. I don’t think that the bedroom we used had been vacuumed. There was thick toothpaste in the bathroom beaker and food marks on the table mats.
