The Stone House was the perfect getaway for three generations of my lovely family over October half-term.

The kitchen and dining facilities are excellent, the beds and bedding very comfortable, and the lounge/sitting area very cosy. The children loved the toys, the dolls house and the dressing up box. We all took part in a never-ending table football tournament and did most of the jigsaw puzzles in the evenings too. The house is a short walk to all amenities down in the village and we can recommend the Charmouth Bakery, The Pea and Bean, The Royal Oak and the Pizzeria and Fish Bar. The beach is another 5 minutes walk and is where we spent most of our time, collecting fossils and sea glass and just basking in the late October sunshine. We will return. Thank you to the Heaths of The Stone House x

Stonehouse was the perfect choice for our first large family holiday (age range 5 to 79).

When our circumstances changed after booking, our hostess was very accommodating re. requests made through Sykes. The house was so large that it had capacity for the various ages and enabled us to spread out. Large, but also homely and cosy, with an appreciated period feel. The library room was a favourite with our 10yr old granddaughter - if she could get to it before her mum. Also a perfect place for our 79yr old to crochet and knit and our son to do his crossword undisturbed. Our energetic grandson ran many timed lengths of the garden. Be aware that the house is on quite a steep hill down to the bus stop/ shops/cafe/pub and to the beach and could cause difficulties for anyone with walking or breathing problems (our 79yr old had to take the hill slowly with occasional rests). As suggested, car parking arrangements are not ideal, the turning into the rear of the house is very tight and one of our party scrapped the side of their car, after which two cars (Peugeot 2008 and 308) parked on the road. The fiat 600 had the rear to itself.

Perfect venue for three generations together: beautiful house, beautifully furnished.

We wished the description had included all the wonderful toys we found to amuse the little ones (would have saved us bringing toys along!) - otherwise, it was just a a thorough-going delight (especially the study).
