  • "We had a fantastic stay at crooks cottage, very comfortable with great walks nearby!"

  • "Nice cottage in a good position."

Couple of things though the mattress is not pocket sprung so we rolled into one another and was so uncomfortable I had a back ache in mornings. We left a day early because of it. The pop plug on sink in bathroom did not pop up. We did not raise it as its too much trouble. Surely the previous clean would found this. Also dust on lamp shades.

Hi Jill, thanks for your comments, which we always appreciate and work harder to give a perfect experience for our guests. I was surprised though, that when I spoke to your husband on a couple of occasions he reported everything was fine. So I am sorry you had these issues. In the unlikely event of problems, we always try to sort them out as soon as we are made aware and hope future guests appreciate they can call on us. We have now purchased a new king size memory foam bed to hopefully cover all our guests comfort needs. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage great place to stay would recommend it as a great base to sightseeing all the main resorts ie W-S-M ."

CHEDDAR. etc are all less than 30 minutes drive. The only downside is the place needs a fridge/freezer and a good idea is a dvd player. 4.7

It was a pleasure meeting you and your dear dog. So pleased you found us in a great spot for all the Somerset sights. I will certainly consider your idea of a DVD but many guests use Netflix or Prime mostly and the smart TV accommodates these for guests subscriptions. The fridge does have a freezer compartment but I can appreciate for longer staying guests a larger freezer may be more convenient. Property Owner

  • "Had a fantastic stay in a beautiful cottage and surroundings, very peaceful and relaxing with lots to do within a few miles radius, my only slight issue was with the bed , although very comfortable mattress , was a bit small for us personally as we are both quite tall, other then that could not fault."

Thank you for your feedback, your comment regarding the bed has been useful and we now intend to replace with a king. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely."

Very quaint. It was very peaceful and an ideal position for exploring the surrounding areas. The only downside was the lack of privacy as the small garden was by the gate in and there was a window at the side which was by the bins so we kept the curtains closed which made it very dark.

It was lovely to meet you. We are so grateful for your comment regarding the bins and these have been relocated. Property Owner

We had lovely neighbours staying in the cottage next door. The fire was the selling point for me and it didn’t disappoint, lovely cosy evenings infront of the TV with the glow of the fire. We can’t thank Tracey enough for her hospitality, we had such a lovely time and look forward to booking with you again!

  • "Crooks is a very cosy cottage but not cramped because the space has been well designed."

Although attached to Wavering (the cottage next door which is also a holiday rent) we heard nothing through the walls, even though the couple renting Wavering had a dog. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities/equipment we needed. The key safe system worked well so we didn't actually meet our hosts. Crooks is set in a beautiful country area with an easily accessible end of the Mendips rising immediately behind the cottage. The road along the base of the hills runs immediately past the back of the cottage. There is very little traffic and you really don't hear it either inside the cottage or, indeed in the small garden seating area outside, so it is a very peaceful and quiet spot. Care is needed driving out of the property as the exit is onto a semi-blind bend in the road. We loved our stay and would recommend it for a quiet break in beautiful countryside. In colder months the woodburner would make the property even cosier (we didn't need it in late August/beginning September.

We are so pleased that your stay in Crooks cottage met all your expectations. Thank you for such a lovely detailed review. Property Owner

  • "It was a lovely little cottage and it had lots of little homely touches."

The kitchen was well equipped, and the house was very practical, with tiled floors downstairs. The bedroom was lovely, with a comfy bed and a good shower. The only 2 things that I would have liked to be a little better were the quality of broadband as it was hard to watch streamed TV (I know this is hard when you live in the country) and the sofa was small which made it difficult to lounge around after a long walk with the dogs. But we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
