  • "We loved our stay at The Yardarm."

    The owners communications were spot on, the flat was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Parking was tight but manageable with our Renault Captur and we loved being so close to the seafront. We'd happily stay again.

    Washing machine a godsend,had no washing to do when we got home, would highly recommend it to friends

  • "A Spacious, well equipped flat which was very comfortable."

    Ideally situated very close to seafront and all amenities of Swanage. Having parking on site was a real bonus (we took a skoda Yeti which fitted in the garage). Only slight drawback was noise from a nearby bar which the owner had warned us about. Lots to do in the area and public transport is very good. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, would definitely reccomend

  • "Lovely flat."

    Perfect for two people. Bed was very big and comfortable. In the centre of everything, so a bit of noise from the pubs, but that didn’t bother me. Parking space is a bit tight.

  • "The'Yardarm' is a great apartment if you want a centrally located base in the heart of Swanage."

    The accommodation has a private garage and a shared patio and is within easy reach of several shops, restaurants, bars and the local bus station. The apartment is spacious for two people and is very well equipped. There is a super king sized bed which is very comfortable. The property has just had a new boiler installed which provides instant hot water. Even though the weather was cool and windy we didn't need to put the heating on as the apartment is very well insulated. The sea front is a two minute walk from the apartment. There are several coastal walks in the vicinity and boat trips and sea fishing excursions are available from the harbour. The owner texted us the key safe code prior to arrival and was available to contact if necessary. The garage is quite narrow but you can park a small car in it. All things considered, we would recommend the Yardarm.

  • "A great apartment, centrally located with views out."

    Comfortable and spacious living room and bedroom. Kitchen is well equipped for self catering although there are plenty of places to eat/takeaway within a short walk. Excellent location for coastal walks and ridge walk to or from Corfe Castle with bus or train the other way. Highly recommended place to stay.

  • "The appartment was very clean and spacious with lovely views toward the harbour ."

    ..everything we needed in the well equipped kitchen and a very comfy and airy bedroom ..the bathroom although not very modern was clean and functional ...it was great to have on site parking included and to be so close to the beach,shops and restaurants ...we met the owner who was very welcoming and helpful .. The only minor negative was the low pressure of the hot water and the lounge was a bit basic in decor although clean .. but nothing to get too worried over ...a great stay overall ...thankyou ..we will return !

  • "The property was everything we required of a central town location."

    Parking a different story. There was a garage advertised as suitable for a small car. We have a small car which did fit the garage but you could not open the doors. Therefore we had to spend a considerable amount of money on off street parking which we had not budgeted for. BE WARNED.

    Dear Mr. Peacey, I am sorry you did not find the garage usable. The garage doors have now been fixed. My car is a Mazda 5, a 7 seater medium size people carrier 4.5 m long 1.75 m wide and 1.66 m high which I always park in the garage. My partner also parks her fiesta in there. Prior to purchasing the Mazda I had a citroen dispatch van which I parked for free on Park Road or Taunton Road . I accept that both are steep and may not be suitable for the less mobile guests which I will add to the details. Kind regards Mark Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely property, beautifully presented and clean with lots of unexpected touches."

    We know Swanage very well but this trip was our first experience of staying right in amongst the useful shops and close to the beach - so close I could walk back from my swim without even getting dressed. The owners had provided every conceivable measure to block out the noise, and a lovely quiet fan to counteract the heat from being at the top of the building with the windows closed. However, the noise was far worse than we imagined was possible in Swanage. There is a very popular bar across the road that opens directly onto the street so crowd noise and music were relentless from 10pm to midnight every night. Sadly this meant I never really relaxed.

Unfortunately as a listed building the windows cannot be replaced with double or triple glazed but I am looking at further measures such as solid wooden blinds. Hopefully this may further reduce noise. The bar mentioned is noisy Friday Saturday evenings but generally much quieter during the week and we are monitoring that it complies with licensing conditions. Regards Mark Property Owner

  • "I have never before found a holiday let with such a good supply of everything needed even down to washing up sponge and washing up liquid there was even washing tabs for washing machine."

    We had a stress free holiday in a clean well stocked apartment we left a couple of board games to add to your supply of entertainment DVD s books ,maps,game sand puzzles we had wonderful weather but had it rained there was things there to use .

  • "We had a lovely holiday in Swanage at The Yardarm."

    The apartment was vey clean and comfortable and the beach, restaurants and shops were on the doorstep. The garage was very small, however, and I just about managed to park our VW Golf in the garage and squeeze out! Luckily, we didn't need to use it at all as public transport was very good!! We would certainly stay at The Yardarm again, but perhaps we would come by train next time!

  • "The flat was comfortable and reasonably well equipped (kitchen appliances and equipment)."

    Bathroom is attractively designed. There is a serviceable washing machine, but nowhere to hang washing. This is a practical option for a beach-based holiday. Whilst any visitor will be aware that a town-centre flat is unlikely to have easy parking, the garage advertised in the literature was not identifiable on arrival (and the courtyard is in any case hard to access, because of the camber/ slope/ blind angles. It would be better to explain in advance that the long-stay car park ca10minutes’ walk away is easy and the courtyard needs care.

I will change the description re garage to indicate the courtyard is a sharp turn and steep camber so those with larger vehicles or less confident drivers may wish to use the long stay carpark nearby. The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks.
