  • "Fab little cottage in a prime place for the Rodwell Trail with a lovely walk in to Weymouth!"

The cottage is well equipped with everything you need and there are plenty of books and games too. The beds are so comfortable you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. The garden is enclosed so your fur baby should be safe wandering about. Not a huge garden but it is fully enclosed which was great! The is a lovely pub about 15 mins walk from the cottage along a busy main road and well worth a visit! There is also local convenience stores and a Tesco Express opposite the pub along with some takeaway’s (Chinese, fish & chips). The owner of the cottage was very helpful and responded to my emails quickly. We would definitely go back!

It's so convenient for the beach, walking and access to buses to get out and about. Oscar the dog was very at home again, and we'd certainly look to return in future.

So glad you enjoyed your second holiday in Jay Cottage - would be wonderful to welcome you back for another holiday. Property Owner

We have had a brilliant holiday the best in England Infant. Everything you could wish for. Comforts, scenery, sea view and beach 2 mins walk. Loads to do like boat trips, lovely walks, crabbing was fun and can’t forget the fish n chips and ice cream. Everything you need is there supermarket 10 mins drive, weymouth is a lovely town centre where you can pick up gifts and treat yourselves. Make sure you leave enough room in car to bring everything back! House itself has everything from bedding to towels to treats left from owners I would highly recommend it to everyone but please leave us a week or two to book next year. Thank you for the best holiday ever.

  • "We had a very enjoyable few days in this very clean, comfortable, warm, well equipped house."

BUT, when we booked a walk- in shower was paramount, and indeed was detailed as one of the facilities. Soon after booking we were informed that the walk-in shower had been removed and replaced with a bath with shower over. Hm!! Not good, very inconvenient. I notice that on the website the narrative has been changed but the images still show a very nice walk-in shower. Nevertheless, the house is well located for the Rodmell Trail, good dining venues and access to the principle places of interest. Recommended.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give feedback. We will endeavour to get the image updated as soon as possible. I am very pleased you enjoyed your time in Weymouth. Property Owner

Easy parking and good internet connection. Nice hot shower. The place was clean and tidy and we enjoyed our stay there. We were here during the start of the cold spell in March and the heating did struggle to keep the house warm but were also reluctant to leave the oil heater on for any length of time because of energy costs. Good to see plenty of recycling going on. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are only about thirty minutes away.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. We will certainly look at ways of keeping the house warm during colder periods. Property Owner

! Plus my dog wasn't impressed by the lack of rug downstairs on a slippery floor also garden we felt was bit of a hazard

Kitchen was well equipped and a comfortable size, it felt like cutlery, glasses etc had been chosen with care. There was a radio with good quality sound in the kitchen which I used a lot and books and games in the lounge which I would have tried if I hadn't brought my own stuff. Comfortable beds and it was lovely and quiet. I didn't use the garden, not the right time of year but the dog had a sniff around in the mornings. Can imagine it would be nice to have a drink outside sitting at the table or on the bench on a summer evening. Lovely area for a holiday plenty of beautiful countryside and things to do. Would recommend.

The property

Just a stone's throw from the beautiful Weymouth Harbour, in a quiet residential spot, Jay Cottage offers a wonderful Dorset holiday home for a family of four.

Enjoying glimpses of Chesil Beach from one of the bedrooms, this terraced house has two bedrooms, and is within easy reach of all of Weymouth's beloved attractions and town centre.

Choose to park up on the driveway or in the off-road space to the back of the property, before entering into the porch area, handy for any wet gear or watersports equipment.

Be welcomed into the spacious sitting room where two sofas present a stylish space to relax in after a busy day, with a TV for entertainment.

A high-gloss fitted kitchen is home to all you need including an electric oven, microwave, electric hob and a fridge/freezer, so you can rustle up delicious family meals when you're not dining out, to be enjoyed around the dining table in here.

Open up the patio doors which give the kitchen/diner an abundance of light, and make use of the pretty enclosed garden, let your canine-companion stretch their legs and sip your morning coffee here.

Retire each evening to one of the two charming double bedrooms, with one offering glimpses of Chesil Beach, and both served by the shower room which has a large shower enclosure.

Weymouth has been a popular choice of holiday destination for many years and is bursting with fun-filled activities; discover a world of underwater creatures at Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park, with over 2,000 creatures including otters, sea turtles, penguins, and plenty of fish, it's a great day out and even has a Splash Zone play area for children in summer.

Delight in the sights of the brightly coloured beach huts, golden sands and safe shallow waters of Weymouth Beach, often named in the top ten beach destinations in Europe, it's not hard to see why!

The wonderful esplanade that runs parallel to the beach is perfect for leisurely strolls or bike rides, with gorgeous views out to the Jurassic Coast, and it also connects the Lorton Valley Nature Park to Radipole Lake Reserve, making it a great way to explore too and see some wildlife in their natural habitats.

Don't miss a visit to Nothe Fort, an impressive Victorian-built fortress, made to protect Portland Harbour and home to a network of underground passages, it's rich in history and also affords wonderful views over to Portland and Weymouth Bay.

The property is only 5 minutes away from Smallmouth beach - a small enclosed beach perfect for paddle-boarding, kayaking or paddling.

From here you can see the windsurfers and kitesurfers using the harbour where some of the water events of the 2012 London Olympics took place.

The OTC Watersports Centre is also a 5 minute drive away, located right on the water’s edge and caters for windsurfing, kitesurfing, wing-foiling and stand up paddleboarding.

On Portland the working lighthouse can be climbed and the visitor centre explored before enjoying lunch at the Lobster Pot which has beautiful views over to the Jurassic coast.

Walkers can delight in hopping onto the South West Coast Path for more coastal scenery while staying active, or for a more relaxed jaunt head along the Rodwell Trail.

Other things not to miss include SandWorld to see the creative sculptures carved and give it a go yourself with the help of some tools and friendly staff, the Isle of Portland, the 18-mile long Chesil Beach, fishing at Weymouth Harbour, and lots more.

Enjoy a stay at Jay Cottage with your loved ones for some unforgettable Dorset memories!
