    Pictures were accurate and it was a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable and fresh. The owners were unobtrusive and welcoming. Very well located to travel around Dorset and experience its beauty. Also located very close to the small railway station which was very useful to save driving some days. Would thoroughly recommend.   • "We stayed at The Halt for 5 nights and really enjoyed it."

    Angela and Nigel were really lovely. We loved the village, shame that the pub at the time didn't do food, though they do expect to do food soon. Would definitely like to stay there again

  • "I spent a week at the Halt and it ticked every box and more for me, location was superb and Angela and Nigel were both great."

    Everything was so clean and modern, cannot fault the accommodation especially the comfy bed!. Laundry room was a nice touch and came in handy after long walks and bike rides. I would certainly recommend The Halt for a short break or longer Holiday, it has everything you will need.

  • "Had an excellent stay at the Halt, it’s delightfully tucked away from the business of life in maiden newton Dorset, the location of the property was ideal for visiting different places about Dorset such as Dorchester, the Cerne Abbas giant etc."

    The property was spotlessly clean and well appointed with everything you will need for a great stay. The views of the countryside and railway from the decked area were great and you have a parking space below your accommodation. We didn’t see the hosts whilst we were there but had to contact them when leaving as we broke a glass and fully expected to pay for it but they said not to worry…….. great service! I would happily recommend the Halt for a lovely peaceful relaxing stay. Thanks

    The house was clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the bed was super confortable. We also really enjoyed seeing a steam train and a hot air balloon from the balcony.

  • "We had a fabulous stay at The Halt."

    All the facilities provided were just as described on the Sykes listing and the welcome goodies were a lovely surprise. It was just the perfect place for us as a base to explore the beautiful Dorset countryside and coast. The studio was very homely, spotlessly clean and so nice to come back to when we had been out all day. We loved the village of Maiden Newton and the lovely local walks. We had a friendly welcome and great meal at the The Chalk & Cheese in the village and two fabulous meals at the New Inn at Cerne Abbas. Ours hosts were just the nicest people, they were so kind , they watered the plants we had bought in the village on the very first day of our stay !

  • "A virtually new property run by Angela and Nigel in immaculate condition with everything needed for a break in this lovely part of the country."

    We didn't get chance to meet Nigel but Angela was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A beautifully clean and unique accommodation, very quiet and the railway at the back of the property was great, a few minutes walk to the station, trains stop at about 10 pm. We booked it specifically for the train access in order to do less driving. Highly recommended. Thank you. Carol and John from Cornwall.

Maiden Newton is a town-sized village in the county of Dorset and surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Within the village you'll find shops, a pub and a restaurant. Maiden Newton is also home to the Church of St. Mary, which is one of the most interesting buildings in the village. The church door is thought to be the oldest wooden church door in England.
