  • "There is no heating in the bedroom and a small fan heater to heat a double height open plan sitting/kitchen."

When we arrive at 4pm it was freezing with only the heated towel rail in the shower room on. We called the owner, who was very polite, to explain we could not stay without proper heating. He offered us to go to his home to sit round his fire ! When we pointed out the bed was icy cold he said he provided a hot water bottle ! I called sykes with the owner present, and they were hopeless and said it was between us and the owner. The owner did offer to buy oil filled radiators the following morning but that did not resolve where we were going to sleep that evening. We left at 5pm to find a hotel. We are £366 out of pocket and will never recommend using sykes.

  • "The hosts sister who looked after us for most of our stay was very friendly and helpful, as were the hosts who were there for the last two days of our stay."

The television was very small and worked through the internet, which was weak. We spent a lot of evenings trying to make it work. The couch was extremely uncomfortable as it was feather filled. Overall, the property was fine but the kitchen equipment was spread out throughout the main room so food prep wasn’t easy. The bathroom was very good.

  • "The location was lovely, car parking was OK but on a blind corner."

The property was adequate, rustic in need of a good clean. The furniture was very old. The shower room was awesome, but sadly, that was it. In summary, if you like spiders and cobwebs, and I mean hundreds, and your soft furnishings smelling like dogs, then this is the place for you.

Think it could benefit from some better lighting as it was difficult to read at night. Very friendly and helpful owners and Nelly was lovely. The garden felt safe for our dog.Great location in a very pretty village

  • "Great location with lots to do nearby."

Xtreme Falconry a must. Cottage was comfortable but a bit dark. Great shower and comfortable bed. Cooking facilities a bit odd but ok for basic cooking. No coat hangers . Nice little outside area with table and chairs. Would visit again. Good value for money.

  • "Lovely friendly owners who checked in regularly to ensure everything was OK."

Classic barn conversion was comfortable, rustic and in keeping with the “Country Cottage” feel. We both slept well and felt it was a good base for exploring our favourite areas of the beautiful Dorset coast. Small cooking area was sufficient for cooked breakfasts or a small meal. Lovely farm shop 10mins walk away.

  • "Very pleasant owners."

Location good as a base between Weymouth, Dorchester. Accommodation disappointing, cobwebs and dust everywhere, strong smell of damp in the main room (large dehumidifier churning away as we came in) The main room needed better lighting, very dark and dismall. The bed linen good quality but bed itself felt unstable and could do with a new mattress. TV needs an aerial, could do with some hooks on backs of doors and some up to date leaflets or info on what there is to do in local area and recommendations pubs, restaurants walks etc.

  • "This was a charming quant and quirky cottage."

There was a high standard of cleanliness , and everything was supplied. The owner was very helpful, and I like to think we built up a friendly rapport. . I also like the history of the place, and Dorset is delightful.

  • "Lovely quirky character cottage in a great location for exploring the Dorset coastline."

Lovely bathroom finished to a very high standard. Top quality bed linen, with my preferred feather pillows and duvet. The kitchenette was suitable for our needs, we were mainly having our evening meals out. If the weather had been better we would have made use of the lovely little garden area and the barbecue that was provided, or even the fondue set. This was our first holiday traveling in an electric car, so it was reassuring to know we could potentially recharge using the owners charge point. However we found Dorset to be very well served with EV charge stations at many of the Council Car parks.
