  • "The cottages was very pleasant, clean and comfortable."

The only thing we would say negatively is the outside seating needs to be addressed as the chairs had no cushions and were most uncomfortable without. The only other downside is the parking, we could not park outside of the cottage at all as the cars that were parked there when we arrived on the Friday evening didn't move all week, we therefore parked outside of the pub but when it is high season and busy that may prove very difficult to do. Other than these two little niggles we had a lovely week and enjoyed the cottage very much. The best places to eat are The Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills and the Seven Stars at Moreton both of these are so much better than the pub in the village both food and atmosphere also The Crown Inn at Stickland does a really good Sunday roast.

  • "Booking with Sykes is so easy and hassle free- would highly recommend!"

Our Cottage was in a perfect location, lovely and quiet and had all the amenities. Only fault is the hob doesn’t heat well at all and so needs replacing or fixing apart from that I would definitely stay here again!

Think they perhaps should have a fitted cushion on that weren’t included.

It was our 2nd visit to this cottage, and we would go again, perfect location in Sutton Poyntz and for visiting Dorset - only issues were that the hob only seems to work on the 2 smaller rings and so it could do with replacing for a better one, it made cooking a meal a chore when it shouldn't be and that the outdoor patio chairs are uncomfortable ones for sitting on and could do with some seating pads for them or again replacing - everything else was perfect

Ideal for my dog, and loads of country, coastal walks. Only down side there very pepply beaches.

  • "Pleasant cottage in a beautiful village."

Within 30 minutes walk to the beach at Bowleaze. Parking near to the property is an issue as local residents take up most spaces available. The property was very clean and tidy. Lovely outdoor space. The electric hob is not very efficient and the gas fire would not turn on. However a very enjoyable stay.

  • "Cottage was really lovely with everything we needed."

Set in a beautiful little village with pub opposite duck pond. Our only problem, and this is us and not the cottage owners fault, was that we have a spaniel and the wall around the garden is only about 4 foot high, which he jumped within about 3 minutes of our arrival. Other than that we had a lovely week away with plenty of good dog walks on the doorstep. Bowleaze beach within walking distance also very pleasant.

  • "It was a really nice and comfortable cottage and we had a great time."

However, there were three issues: 1- No private parking. Off-road parking was difficult due to a very narrow road. 2- The hub was not strong enough to cook on (low heat output). 3- The cold basin tap in the bathroom was loose and leaking (which I called to report to the owner).

  • "We enjoyed our stay and the cottage is very nice, the village is lovely, parking could be an issue but we were lucky and managed to park outside most days."

Lack of an upstairs loo could be an issue for some folks. The kitchen is looking rather tired with damaged units and the hob is very slow to warm up.

  • "Blueberry cottage is very nice, well maintained and modern, warm, good facilities, enjoyable place to stay."

The location, almost equidistant between Weymouth and Dorchester and in a quiet village is excellent. On the downside, car parking is a problem. There is no designated parking spot for the cottage and the locals are extremely possessive of any spaces going, including in front of the cottage itself. We parked as far as 200 yards away opposite the village pub. A minor problem concerns the loo which is on the ground floor off the kitchen. Navigating steep stairs from the bedroom in the night to visit the loo is not ideal. Almost reminds me of early years, at least this loo is inside! On a wider issue, why do Sykes insist on Friday to Friday lettings? Friday is the worst day of the week for road travel. Arriving on holiday in an unfamiliar place fraught from Friday travel is not the best start to a holiday. We use other holiday cottage agencies who are happy with Saturday to Saturday lettings and I'm afraid whilst Sykes continue with this Friday to Friday situation, we shall prioritise those other agencies for cottage bookings.

  • "We were delayed access by 7 hours to facilitate the COVID clean."

The work surfaces, glasses, cooker were dirty. Under the toaster and microwave was ground in dirt. The soft cushions on the settees smelt disgusting and there were sweet wrappers and a red cardigan under one of the beds. Cleaning, they don’t know the meaning of the word.

  • "Cottage is in a central but very quiet position in the beautiful village of Sutton Poyntz."

Great pub a stones throw away but no noise at night. Minimal traffic down lane. Comfortable beds and peace and quiet meant a good night's sleep every night. Lovely sunny large kitchen with sun trap patio was a highlight of our stay. Neighbours were very friendly. Great walks on your doorstep. I recommend the walk up the hill to sit on the Osmington White Ho rse for amazing views of Weymouth harbour. We would definitely love to stay here again.

  • "The location is great and the village has a good feel about it, although i am not sure what it would be like out of season with so many rentals available."

Having a pub in such close proximity was also great. With regards to property, it was very nice although there are a couple of things i would like to point out: 1) It could have been cleaner, a lot of cobwebs in corners of ceilings. - not sure if this was due to lack of use owing to Covid. 2) Oven and hob were next to useless. The hob could do withe being exchanged for a modern one with more effective heating rings. Very old fashioned. The oven was ok, but again rather lacking in punch when cooking. The wifi was a great bonus which kept the kids happy. Overall it was a great stay, with a few minor tweaks it would be a perfect property!

  • "The cottage is in a good location."

However it is difficult to park close to the cottage, the Lane is narrow and the village does become busy at weekends. The lounge area is quite cool in the winter months and the gas fire did not work. The sofas are uncomfortable, so it was not pleasant to sit and watch TV. I sat on the hard dining chair. As I was uncomfortable I ended my stay early by two days. I did contact Sykes Customer service on my return to inform them of my stay and these problems. Neither they or the owner of the cottage were prepared to offer a small refund by way of compensation . So I was a little disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback, the Owner has tested the fire and is pleased to report it is working fine - the Owner would have been happy to pop in to look at this for you and demonstrate how this works. We are sorry you found the leather sofa not to your comfort. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Very clean and cosy cottage in a great location."

Only issue was that there were no plugs in basin or bath, no problem if you just wanted to shower. Would recommend and consider returning.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and glad you felt Blueberry Cottage was clean and cosy. We are sorry that you did not find the plugs, they were on the shelf in the bathroom but in future the housekeeper will put them on the sink and bath respectively to avoid confusion. Property Owner

The staff are very friendly, they serve great food, a great selection of real ales and of course gin. Great walking and cycling in and around the area. The cottage is very well presented and is of a good size, it worked well for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a small dog. It had everything we needed, apart from a hairdryer which would be helpful. Might be worth mentioning that the cottage has a ground floor bathroom in the description as its not to everyone’s liking but it was fine for us. We would definitely stay there again.
