"A lovely cottage with good facilities in an ideal spot for staying in Weymouth, with beautiful decoration."
We enjoyed our stay. The following could have improved it: 1) the north facing bedrooms have thick curtains which block the sun well, but the south facing main bedroom (which gets the most sun) only has a basic blind, so is brightly lit from sunrise (5:30am-ish) which was tiring. Using the same blinds as for the rest of the house would improve this. 2) on arrival, the whole house, but especially the kitchen, we're full of flies, which made it unpleasant to eat there. I got no response from the property management when I tried to contact them (to request a fly zapper or similar) but fortunately their numbers dwindled after I installed a couple of fly traps and swatted several. The cottage generally seemed clean so their presence was a mystery - however, when I checked out and put the bin bags in the wheelie bin in the courtyard, I realised these had not been collected before our arrival as the information says - having so much uncollected waste outside the kitchen window almost certainly resulted in the fly infestation that we experienced. 3) while a waste bin and recycling bin are provided, there was no information available on how to sort recycling (every council, and even street, can be different) - we put our large cardboard and clean plastic in the green bin, but had no way of knowing how to divide it otherwise, so we ended up throwing away a full black sack of rubbish for the week (at home we only have a small bin liner to throw in general waste every 1-2 weeks). There were no food waste or similar designated boxes anywhere in or around the cottage so we just had to bin most of our waste.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're glad to read you found the cottage had good facilities and an ideal location. We’re sorry to hear about the issue with flies upon your arrival. With the recent warm weather, we’ve noticed they can appear quite suddenly between changeovers, and we’re actively looking into ways to manage this better. We also sincerely apologise for the missed bin collection, it was scheduled for Friday and should have been taken care of before you arrived. We’ll be reviewing our processes to help prevent this from happening again. We completely understand how confusing recycling rules can be, especially when they vary from place to place. At this property, we use an internal waste collection service, which is why a food waste caddy isn’t provided. We appreciate you pointing out that this wasn’t clearly explained in the welcome folder. We’ll be updating our information to make things much clearer for future guests. Thank you again for your feedback. We'd love to welcome you back to Weymouth again. Dream Cottages Property Owner

The only problem we had was finding a parking space with a disabled bay as there wasn’t very many and with a partner who has some mobility problems walking long ways was disappointing but we loved our time in skippers cottage

"Overall the property was very good - lovely furniture and fittings which made for a comfortable stay."
Everything you needed in the kitchen and having the washing machine was a bonus. Only downsides were a general musty smell in the downstairs rooms, especially in the kitchen by the sink, and the outside solar lights were not working which was a shame as we had some nice evenings and would have liked to sit outside. We would definitely stay again.
Thank you for your feedback and on your return visit you will find that we have provided mains powered lights, rather than solar powered ones, so you should be able to enjoy the patio - weather permitting! Property Owner

"Apart from an initial problem with trying to lock the front door, which was quickly resolved, the property was good and a short stroll to the centre of Weymouth."
Thank you for your positive feedback. Just to say we have now installed new safety thumb turn locks front and back so this problem should be resolved. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in good location 10 mins walk from station and sea front."
Bus stop at top of Lennox street on front. Looks newly renovated with new furniture beds very comfortable. Only one complaint the owner really needs to put blackout curtains in front bedrooms as street light right outside so had trouble sleeping.
Dear Linda Many thanks for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We were sorry that the light shining into the front bedroom disturbed your sleep. We have taken measurements and are going to have new curtains/blinds installed soon. Best wishes The Skipper's House ps new curtains are now hanging in both front bedrooms so hopefully this will ensure a good night's sleep Property Owner

"Property was dirty upon arrival."
No curtains in bedrooms, front bedrooms on roadside are extremely lit up at night from the street light directly outside.
Dear Liam We were very sorry to hear that the property was dirty when you arrived but understand that Dream Cottages, who manage the house and cleaning on our behalf, sent a cleaner in as soon as you raised this with them. Dream Cottages will be monitoring cleaning standards closely from now, so this should not happen again. Thank you for raising this and providing the opportunity to put things right for you. We do hope that you were happy with the final standard of the cleaning and went on to have a lovely stay in Weymouth. Regarding light coming into the front bedrooms, we have taken measurements and are going to have new curtains/blinds installed soon. Best wishes The Skipper's House ps new curtains are now hanging in both front bedrooms so hopefully this will ensure a good night's sleep Property Owner
